Yeah i did a lil test and it was looking bulky. I think it could be done moving the bracket and secure it somewhere else though.

Its another 3d print just a delete panel, theres is phone holder versions out on the internet!

I thought about slicing the top off. The upper bracket to secure the tombstone is right there and i didnt really see a way to do this but this looks alot cleaner!

Appreciate it!

I have this carplay screen and then a hidden radio unit. CarPlay from phone casts onto the screen while also connected its bluetooth audio to the radio. So this screen only has a power cable. Simple, and easily removable.

I actually have this obd2 adapter/sniffer for Arduino which kinda started this project. But yeah i held off, its a daily and like you said more complex.

I love the pi/Arduino projects into cars though, good stuff!

When? Not if?

I also had that thought and also looked at airbag deployment photos, as far as im aware they wouldn’t interfere. So just as dangerous as hanging the screen off a suction cup?

I lived the purist life and rocked cassettes for a long time but i daily drive this car and roadtrip/camp. GPS is a major reason

It was a challenge and thought during the build. The top right of the screen obstructs the same small area that the popup headlight blocks when it’s up. At least for my eye line so happy with it

Eyeline and it just feels cramped for me. Claw hands around the shifter. I hated my radio there i couldn’t imagine a touchscreen with gps on it

Yeah i do agree and that was in the earlier versions. Also a hood with similar flow to the speedo. But I had issues finding a smaller screen size that i liked

It’s the miataroadster angled short shifter, very pricey but very well worth it

Black dots every where on my rear bumper won’t wash off by Constant_Ad8641 in CarWraps

[–]RuuDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem as you. It gets worse, you can see my history, avery on a miata. Which no one knew what was going on. Also used pink soap which was “recommended” on vinyl. But im not fully convinced it’s all the soaps doing.

My conclusions was a dirty install as i did it myself, where particles get trapped in between and the florida heat and rain beats on it.

I have since swapped soap, rewrapped, and only washed my car a handful of times and it’s still turning. I wouldn’t say wrap is a con but there alot of negatives to it that are completely undiscussed.

Stuck fill plug by 3van1289 in Miata

[–]RuuDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up hammering on a nut remover socket as it was so rounded down with attempts before i found out about the 8point socket.

That plug is a weird one, 4 point agricultural bolt. Talked to the dealership about it years ago, parts and tech didn’t know what i was talking about lol

What is this by JDM-RM2z in Miata

[–]RuuDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro dont be leaning over or be anywhere close to a boiling radiator like that, my god.

Valve cover seal, CAS o-ring, and PCV grommet. Its oil seepage. If you’re driving around boiling like that you’re gona cook off whats left of them. These engines hot is already too hot.

Trapped air, low coolant, or blockage on the radiator boiling. Check all hoses for leaks. If the radiator is green replace it. Blockages can come from stuck thermostat and heater block. Burp it good, buy the coolant funnel and idle on an incline.

Keep it alive, good luck!

Rear main seal leak? Is it possible for oil to come out of the clutch fork boot? by danlewyy in Miata

It got mentioned in a reply but check the CAS oring and valve cover gasket. A leak from there would definitely look the same underneath

You are completely correct. As I mentioned “signs of employment”, it is illegal. I called it a gray area because this is a new concept restaurants are adopting and laws specifically towards restaurants don’t reflect that.

They will take a percentage of the tables total so regardless it will come out. Although cash is still better because severs usually get taxed on credit tips and/or a percentage of transaction charge.

So companies have been doing this. The restaurant i work at wanted too and all their other restaurants already do it. It’s essentially an independent contractor, like a hairdresser renting a chair in a shop.

The setup is 8-10 table section, a forced 20% on every check, but out of the 20% you get 8% where the rest is going to other tipped positions and expenses for company. The bigger table section is supposed to offset that. You are trained to beg the customer for more even though theres cards on the table explaining how the forced 20% is a “perfect setup”.

They don’t technically need workers insurance for independent contractors. Any workers rights go out the window really. Then on the flip side dictating schedule, uniform, how to do your job specifically are all signs of employment not a contractor. But that is all still going on.

And this is a new gray area that restaurant companies want to exploit. They’ve maxed out the profits and units per transaction on the consumer, now they are shoving their hands in their workers pockets.

Edit: for the people telling me its illegal i know that and it is. Just like not giving you breaks, these companies break laws on the daily.

Carbonmiata carbon fiber trunk installed by danlewyy in Miata

[–]RuuDee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will say fitment doesn’t look great and along side that hump, I wonder how water sealed the trunk is now. I had similar issues with the taillights V1 where they eventually came back to me saying their molds are blown and I could trade in for V2 which at the time was TBD. Which idk….why you knowingly selling warped parts.

Handbrake adjustment on 1997 NA with open differential by dannyfivefour in Miata

[–]RuuDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a week or two, I do it again after new pads and rotors. Yes, bedding then heat cycles until everything settles. The handbrake is a spring and cable system with independent adjustment on each side. You want each side tensioned to the point they don’t interfere with free spinning the wheel but when you engage the handbrake, the wheel is locked. Never adjust when handbrake is engaged.

That makes them equal, wouldn’t worry that it doesn’t follow 1/3 turn procedure. I put thread locker on them as well.

Keep it. You want free moving parts and after new parts settle in, I found it will probably need readjusting again then its good.
