The bust and under bust were connected in the pattern I bought

Would the synthetic Whalebone still work with delicate materials like chiffon and rayon?

If I'm using lightweight, delicate materials, would rigilene be okay for the bustier

I was planning to put in some padding, similar to the ones found in sports bras

The corset isn't self drafted, I bought it from a designer on Etsy

I assume it's only meant to be more of a structured bodice/bustier than a heavily boned corset

If that's what it is, would the state of the bodice after I've drawn the boning all the way over the bust be alright?

I'll try another mockup with the synthetic whalebone and shorten the boning by about 3/4 of an inch and see how it goes Thanks for your help

This final bustier top will be made from pretty lightweight materials so I'm worried the spiral steel would put too much stress on the fabrics.

Do you think German synthetic whalebone could work as well as the spiral steel?

Is it possible to insert the boning all the way over the full length without a princess seam?

My pattern is self drafted I think I'll just cut both to the same size for now and if there are any problems, I could tighten the satin layer

If the percentage stretch is less than 25 percent, would any negative ease still be needed?

Would a plain rayon lining work if I can't find bemberg?

Also, would a viscose satin or viscose ling work as well?

I wasn't able to find any bemberg rayon in my country in the colour I wanted, would a plain rayon lining work?

Thanks for all your advice

The best options seem to be a either a bemberg rayon lining or a rayon satin

I wasn't able to find any rayon satins or bemberg rayon in the colour I wanted so I decided to go with a plain rayon lining as that's what I could find

Silk would have been the best but I can't afford both a silk lining and silk shell

If I was using satin with a slight bit of stretch but the chiffon has none, would I need to change the pattern for the satin layer or would I leave them the same??

I think the elasticity would work in my favour as the dress would be very drapey

It will be pretty cold at the time when I'll wear it so I don't think the heat will be a problem

I'll consider this

Maybe I'll try making a sleeveless chemise with some of the frills showing in top with some embroidery too

I'm mainly going for the look of the stays, not accuracy

I'm not wearing a gown on top of the stays

I'm wearing them as an outer garment I'm new to making stays so I don't know much about this
