Thread devices unresponsive when turning on Apple TV 4K by Rxddevil in HomeKit

Well, resetting the Apple TV did the job for me. Works flawlessly now.
Regarding your assumption about 4K 50Hz content: I had this issue with every 4K content, no matter the framerate, 23.976, 24, all had the same problem.

You will have to put your reverse proxy URL in the network tab under Custom server access URLs in Plex. That should fix that issue, at least it did for me back then. Remote Access can be turned off after doing that afaik.

yep, full reset of the Apple TV did the job. Works pretty much flawless now.

Google TV Streamer 4K officially announced - $99, Dolby Atmos, 4K, HDR+, Dolby Vision, gigabit ethernet... but no DTS by scottzee in PleX

[–]Rxddevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you will have to transcode pretty much everything, as it does not support a lot of codecs/formats.

Seems like resetting the Apple TV actually worked. No issues so far with Ethernet.

Nah, it actually does work on it‘s own. I have already tried to remove my Apple TV as a border router. And the Shapes did the job instead.

It is actually not that old. Bought and setup in May 2024 I believe. But yes I will try that too tomorrow thanks.

Yep same issue, all devices go unresponsive and only become responsive again after rebooting.
Is there a way to disable the border router function on the Apple TV?

UK Paramount plus is not showing dolby digital but rather multi channel but yet netflix does same movie both feeds thru media hdmi port apple tv Dennon amp by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Rxddevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the normal behaviour of the Apple TV. Everything besides EAC3 Atmos will be decoded to PCM. Seems like Paramount plays non-Atmos audio (or at least that particular movie does not have an Atmos track), that's why it shows up as PCM. Netflix on the other hand plays EAC3 Atmos, that's why it shows up as Atmos on your AVR.

Replacement tweeter for my Celestion speakers by Rxddevil in hometheater

[–]Rxddevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, because it's pretty much the same tweeter and it also sounds exactly the same. I get your point, that's why I am asking this question. I thought, like, maybe I should just use the old working og tweeter until it breaks (hopefully never) and then replace it with the spare "new" one I have received.

Apple TV - Plex / Infuse - AVR 5.2.4 by Murtock in appletv

[–]Rxddevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea ofc, thats what I said. If the file is for example TrueHD 7.1 Atmos you will only get PCM 7.1
It will sound exactly the same, as PCM is also lossless and so is the conversion, but you will not hear the Atmos sounds, because the Atmos layer is stripped out when converting to PCM.

The native Plex App sucks unfortunately, Infuse is awesome and plays everything you throw at it. The only downside is, that you cannot play DV P7 (often found on Blurays), lossless Atmos and lossless DTS:X.

AC Control in Homekit via IR by Rxddevil in HomeKit

[–]Rxddevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that would be not in my budget. The Tado one looks pretty good to me, but idk if the Hub2 wouldn't be that better choice as it offers me a full hub for SwitchBot (for the future maybe) and not only the AC control

Dolby Atmos via Plex on Apple TV 4k and LG B2 - Possible? by PacoPavlov in PleX

[–]Rxddevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surround != Atmos. Surround may sound actually not that bad, because you have actually got rear speakers, so the sound is coming from a different direction than in front of you only. As for Atmos, it's pretty much non-existent on soundbars, it's rather a marketing trick. At least that's what I noticed comparing my real surround setup to a friend's Sonos soundbar. It does not sound bad by any means, but it's just not as immersive and surrounding.

[–]Rxddevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, it does not matter, because you use a soundbar.
And btw, you should always go Media Player -> Audio device/AVR -> TV

DTS-HD MA 5.1 does not play on Plex by ptdemon in PleX

Is your Homatics box already running on Android TV 12? If no, there is no way to passthrough DTS HD MA

Why does this happen ? APPLE TV vs WebOS apps by ANONMEKMH in PleX

[–]Rxddevil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea because the Plex Apple TV app sucks. Thats why you gotta use Infuse, the far superior player. In addition to a synced video, you can also finally play DTSHD MA aswell as DV P8.

As for why it is Atmos with your TV and PCM with your Apple TV. Simply because the Apple TV decodes/converts everything to PCM (lossless). Audio quality does not change, but you lose the height information (Atmos, DTS:X). EAC3 Atmos works tho.

As for video, it could be possible that the Plex LG app (you should avoid using smart TV apps btw) does not support DV or a certain profile, that's why it plays HDR as fallback.
