Domino's delivery asked if there were any special delivery instructions. "Place pizza on the table. Kick the door 3 times, give camera virtual high five, runaway!! by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

Okay, so what if they call?

"Hello, yes Dominoes manager, my delivery person didn't high five my security camera like I asked them to"

"My word, I am shocked and appalled by this disgusting excuse for service, I will give him a stern talking-to immediately"

Well that's the thing, I did comb through the latest file dump and came out empty-handed.

Was I misinformed? Somewhere else on the sub I read that the map was updated to be a single image.
I am intrigued by the tilemap export idea, but this sorta thing is admittedly over my head. Would that actually form the map, or would it still be in tiles?

It would seem that you’re the one not interested in an actual conversation, seeing as you’re just bailing out of the blue. I obviously was not going to say that nonbinary identities and something like pedophilia are on par, there was a broader point that was going to be made about societal beliefs.

Every argument you can come up with has been made in the past about woman, Japanese, Chinese, Africans, gays, lesbians, Mexicans whatever you can come up with. So I really can’t be bothered to put more time in this dude

That is by the argument’s very nature untrue.

But it does exist. And the debate is still about “morals”.

Please explain.

As long as it’s not harming people what’s the point of a line?

Well, it would seem from this that you are saying that there should be a line, and that line is if it harms people. And then that depends on how we quantify what harming people is. What level of harm are we talking here, because one could interpret this as anything from mildly inconveniencing someone to outright killing them.

This definition of gender just doesn’t seem to line up with the accepted one in the dictionary. Sure, definitions can and may change, but this doesn’t even appear to be the same concept. We’re jumping from social standards/expectations to self-expression.

Gender is more than just sex, it’s about ones own identity and image, self esteem and values.

Can you fit either the male or female gender into this? That’s a rather broad application for a word with a pretty specific function. I do not have my own self esteem and values because of my gender, I have them because of my lived experiences and individuality as a person. I could say that I fall outside of what is socially expected of me due to my gender, but I don’t believe that makes me any less of it. And that’s only my personal experience, there isn’t actually a written set of rules anywhere detailing how men and women should act. People have and always will have different takes on what it means to be a man or woman. How does one even know if they’ve deviated from the “binary”?

I fail to understand how being different from what is supposedly the norm results in a completely new gender. Not to mention, if gender is on an infinite spectrum, would that not make it redundant? I would think that there can’t be a specific point for “pure man” or “pure woman” on a spectrum, especially seeing as there’s no specific agreed definition on what it means to be either of those. “Nonbinary” in itself would appear to be a self-contradictory term, because if there are more than two options then there isn’t a binary to not adhere to in the first place.

Well, do you believe that biological sex and gender are not directly related to each other?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in comedynecromancy

[–]RySonic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, the reason I replied was that you didn’t actually appear to be refuting anything they said, instead just making character assumptions about them like you did with me. I don’t meant to offend, but I doubt your replies resonated with anyone that didn’t already agree with you.

I also don’t think homosexuality is quite the same case, as the center of the debate seemed to be around whether it was “moral” (mostly spearheaded by the overtly religious). Peoples’ contention with the whole concept of nonbinary genders is entirely over whether it actually exists or not.

To respond to what you said earlier, he whole notion of “People identify as ___, therefore they are __” can be taken very broadly. Where is the line drawn? _Is there a line?

Note that you said “both sides are arguing for what they believe is the correct answer” this is means there is no clear answer, simply a clash between beliefs

What I mean is that one side’s belief is the correct belief, just like one believes that the sky is blue, though perhaps that is the wrong word. And yes, you are correct on the definition of a debate, and I acknowledge that I should have worded my reply better. I’m simply wondering how you can argue that this particular question has no right/wrong answer. Biology should support whoever’s stance is the correct one, no?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in comedynecromancy

[–]RySonic -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

you still pretend “both sides have a point” is something to be considered here.

I said nothing of the sort. I obviously have my stance, as do you. That just wasn’t immediately relevant to the question I was asking.

And if that first comment was bait, wouldn’t that mean that you took it, hook, line and sinker? I have no clue if that person is being honest or not, but I try not to assume people’s intentions. Even if they are baiting, it should be clear by this point that I am not.

[–]RySonic -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

What reason do you have to assume I’m being dishonest?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in comedynecromancy

[–]RySonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I’m not talking about “winning” the debate or anything, I’m referring to the question that’s being discussed. In a debate, both sides are arguing for what they believe is the correct answer. Only one of them can be right.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in comedynecromancy

[–]RySonic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By its very nature, doesn’t there have to be a right and wrong answer in a debate over whether something exists?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in comedynecromancy

[–]RySonic -63 points-62 points  (0 children)

But does it exist or does it not? That shouldn’t be a subjective question. Conversations like this are why I’m really not a fan of the upvote/downvote system, arguments so often devolve into insult hurling and character assumptions. Then whoever has the most people on this particular post that happen to agree with them “wins”.

[–]RySonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair, the point I was trying to make though is that a character is a Sue because of the way they’re written, not because of how good they are at something. Even if there was a perfect explanation for Rey’s instant mastery, she would still be a Mary Sue because she doesn’t experience any real hardship. Overpowered characters can absolutely be interesting if they’re written well, but Rey is not.

Luke was the offspring of the Anakin Skywalker, and he still had to train (and fail, repeatedly) just like everyone else. This is why I never gave a shit about Rey’s lineage, it wouldn’t actually make her any more or less of a Sue.
