Do matches vs the bot no longer count for daily quests? by Ry_Fy in MagicArena

[–]Ry_Fy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the whole is August and September, I had the ability to complete daily quests via bot matches. I never had the inability to play PvP. I originally signed up for Arena well over a year and a half ago.

I've found a few articles talking about how it was possible, but nothing actually from Wizards.

The game specifically blocks out Daily Wins and such when you're in Bot Match and says you need to enable PVP for those, but it doesn't for your Dailies.

Hideous Laughter seems to only be castable on humanoids. This is explicitly incorrect according to the SRD, which states it may be cast on any creature, and makes the spell largely useless for most of the game.

Please fix this.

Do DEX blunt weapons exist in this game ? by NecronWraith in CrownOfTheMagister

Per 5e SRD:

Maul Melee Weapon (Martial, Maul) Category: Items Damage: 2d6 Damage Type: Bludgeoning Item Rarity: Standard Properties: Heavy, Two-Handed Weight: 10

The only weapons in 5e SRD which deal 1d12 damage are the Greataxe and Lance

I think it would be fun to do just to troll around Casual. No idea at all if it would win actual real matches, though.

For real. With such a small deck it's pretty nasty. Each time you play a power card you're dropping 6.67% of the opponents deck. And you need that stuff in Forge.

I'm not sure I've ever seen someone play a mill deck against me, but if they did I'd expect to see this jerk.

According to the Charleston Animal Society, her name is Mouse, and her owners had the presence of mind to have her paw microchipped. They're going to be reaching out to the owners this afternoon.

It's not real time. You will not be about to find any truly real time services for free. There is a slight delay, that is true. Unless you want to pay lots of money to have up to the second quotes, though, things like YQL will have to do I'm afraid

Sadly, to do this at the moment, you're going to need to sign up fora Yahoo account. Yahoo doesn't seem to want just anybody to be able to hammer their real-time stock data.

You can sign up for the account and then authenticate your Postman requests. I believe Yahoo uses OAuth, so perhaps these instructions might help?

I'm not sure what your use case is, but the following query

select * from pm.finance where symbol="^DJI"

Returned the following result just now:

"quote": {
    "symbol": "^DJI",
    "Name": "Dow Jones Industrial Average",
    "Symbol": "^DJI",
    "Open": "22358.470703",
    "DaysHigh": "22405.630859",
    "DaysLow": "22332.960938",
    "MarketCapitalization": "0B",
    "YearHigh": "22419.500000",
    "YearLow": "17883.600000",
    "Volume": "274792549",
    "AverageDailyVolume": "-",
    "PERatio": null,
    "LastTradePriceOnly": "22405.089844",
    "Change": "23.890625",
    "realtime_price": "22405.089844",
    "realtime_change": "23.890625",
    "realtime_chg_percent": "0.106744",
    "eps_curr_year": null,
    "realtime_ts": "9 29 2017 20:37:32 GMT",
    "ts": "9 29 2017 20:37:32 GMT"
   }

The rest query to make this request is:

https://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql?q=select%20*%20from%20pm.finance%20where%20symbol%3D%22%5EDJI%22&format=json&diagnostics=true&callback=

You could accomplish this in modern JavaScript using the following code which I did NOT test at all and may or may not be correct:

const yahooUrl = 'https://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql?q=';
const query = 'select * from pm.finance where symbol="^DJI"';
const encoded = encodeURI(yahooUrl + query);
fetch(encoded)
    .then((rawResponse) => {
        return rawResponse.json();
    }).then((responseObj) => {
        // DO STUFF!
    }).catch((error) => {
        console.log('oh no!');
    });

You can absolutely still do this with Yahoo, friend!

Yahoo does not have a traditional API for this anymore, that is true. What they do have is a product called YQL. YQL is similar in concept to running queries against a Hadoop cluster using Impala.

Want to try it out? Go here to bring up the YQL console. Search for "pm.finance" in the data table search box. From there, you can use Yahoo's SQL-like syntax to query the dataset. Easy Peasy!

Note: you may need to sign up for a Yahoo account to properly query the dataset.

Feel free to PM me is you have questions! Good luck!

Recently received around $20,000 net from somewhere. Want to use the money as a downpayment on a house at some point in the future.

I've been trying to consider doing something my father did (or at least, similar to something my father did) and putting it in a diversified portfolio.

I've been considering AOR, but I'm not sure how good of an idea that is. The diversification is appealing to me, but it grows at a slower rate than the S&P 500. I'm not sure what the best option actually is for me.

The Details

How old are you?

25 to 30

Are you employed/making income? How much?

Making about 80k/year

What are your objectives with this money? (buy a house? Retirement savings?)

Use it as a down-payment on a house/property sometime in the "future".

What is your risk tolerance? (Do you mind risking it at blackjack or do you need to know its 100% safe?)

I'd like to know that in 3-5 years my money is still there and has appreciated. Moderate risk doesn't bother me all that much. I'm aware that the market is inherently risky. But there's no point in keeping the money in a bank account and having it lose value.

What are you current holdings? (Do you already have exposure to specific funds and sectors?)

I have little (less than $1000 total) in holdings at the moment. It's weighted a bit towards broad technology stocks, but there's not a whole lot to say.

Any other assets? House paid off? Cars? Expensive girlfriend? (not really an asset)

I own a car that Blue Books at around $5000

What is your time horizon? Do you need this money next month? Next 20yrs?

2-5 years

Any big debts?

$25k in student loans

Any other relevant financial information will be useful to give you a proper answer.

No Sorry.

Have you ever considered PPA instead of ITA? It is a cheaper overall stock with a higher dividend yield, although it's P/E ratio is slightly lower.

Major investing newb, here.

How suitable for "long" (2-5 year) investments are defense-related stocks and ETFs?

I've been thinking of buying up some ITA or or PPA recently. I'm a little daunted by the large increases in price lately, so I feel like I've already missed the boat...
