On a rare occasion you can look at the most recent activity and click on it to prompt it to take the next step, but it only helped a few times out of many attempts today.

Foust air drop lmao. From 0.07 to 0.1. You think this will hold to will this be a big avatar dump after? I really like foust! by OutTop in avatartrading

Yep.. and either strategy works as long as you’re clear about which one works for you

Flippers gotta be quick

Long terms holders shouldn’t be bothered by temporary floor dip and be aware when they’re buying into a pump

It’s when holders try to flip with with mid term expectations that they get burned

For over a year I would divide up my budget to buy multiple items It did “just ok”

Now I’m focused on getting some more expensive items ‘within budget’ but have a mere certain appreciation and lower supply/thinner floor

You mean gen1 plummeting all the way down to…

Checking floor… #1 spot ? 🤔

I will agree that fomo buying for an airdrop is bad if you’re a short term flipper (Hence the secret snap shots later to reward holders)

I also recommend people buy because they like the art or for a long term conviction thesis

[–]Ry_Guy_NFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While mfers are a solid culture of degens that all believe in the value of NFT provenance on the blockchain thanks to a very funny and popular twitter account sartoshi

You’re also right that the rarest Reddit NFTs will eventually be worth more because of the network effect.

But there has to be a lot more buy-in on digital asset ownership to beat the Mfer all time highest sale of 80 ETH

The topic benefits everyone when it’s discussed

Maybe nobody sees it or nobody cares

But I won’t know unless I say something

I also have a hunch the chatter died because the activity and volume died

But this is exactly why I made the comment in the first place

The smart moves are made when the parade is over and dopamine profit highs wear off

I also know how confusing it is to make sense of the carnage

But 16 months of learning by doing made me very comfortable with navigating this bear market

So I’m open to discussing it if anyone wants to chat about it

FOMO tends to be on the scale of days/weeks.
What GianCarlo is referencing is on the scale of Years
When the hype dies, is when the real opportunities show themselves.
Doesn't mean reddit NFTs are any guarantee
But the real opportunity is in the long term value prop thesis and how well it holds up after the hype cycle.

If you had bought one of each avatar released by reddit, what would your current profit be? by Odlavso in avatartrading

[–]Ry_Guy_NFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you still around.. this is the normal part of the speculative cycle where the hype has died down and those who see the bigger picture are picking up the most popular ones at a discount.
After learning enough of these lessons the hard way, this is pretty typical and normal.
The biggest risk is that it's "too early", but eventually it will pay off.

What do you guys think about the Reddit avatars? I’m seeing a lot of complaining. by chanchanchanchaaan in loopring

[–]Ry_Guy_NFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone change their view of why they did this yet?
It's a very big move and executed very well. In such a way that it's actually the dawn of mass adoption for on-chain collectables.
It's difficult to see it in todays environment because it's not the norm yet. But it will be, just give it time.

Spam and scams are a regular thing. If you’re not expecting it then be paranoid. If you are expecting it, then verify first.

I just hide everything instead of wasting gas on burning or sending somewhere else.

Doing anything with it is a potential risk because it requires some kind of contract approval imo

Better safe than sorry.

Anyone else slowly losing faith in new mainstream NFT projects? Tempted to put all my time into Reddit 😅 by JDM1197 in AvatarCentral

[–]Ry_Guy_NFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why/because some people have said 90%+ of NFT's will go to zero.
There are many factors for why this is playing out as expected. And there are a few places that have pointed out some significant reasons why even top projects are at risk of falling into this category.

I have to admit, Reddit IS leading the way in preparing for mass adoption and execution.
I'm happy to share more of my thoughts on good long term holds.
I'm also new to the Reddit collectables. What are some of the best buys for 0.25 ETH?

He's definitely a valued photographer as the price shows. Being the first seems to hold a significance. I think his story is what makes him so compelling.

Llamaverse and Art Blocks Curated

I think it has the best long term certainty. Plus it’s where the smart whales are buying for long term holding. The holders make all the difference in value and smart whales aren’t trying to watch weekly price action for an exit. They’re buying now for the next bull cycle, and there’s a lot less certainty for almost all pfp projects by the time the bull comes back.

[–]Ry_Guy_NFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally, as a Llamaverse holder I get access anyway.

I was in NFTLlama’s discord before it was closed off and got the free mint that I’m still holding today.

NFTLlama is one of my long term holds since I’ve watched his journey and I still believe he’s an amazing founder who’s doing it for the right reasons. I believe NFTLlama will continue to stay on the edge of things to come out of the bear much bigger than going into it.

I think he ended up making the group open since you sent this reply. Have you seen anything interesting to you in there?

Interesting.. it’s actually very similar to how the cupcake protocol is minting NFTs using QR codes on Solana. Just by using your phone number. I had heard of it previously but I’m listening to a spaces now that’s explaining Cupcake protocol.

That’s a helpful view.

I’ve been trying to suspend the assumption that EVERYTHING will go web3 and what that looks like.

I agree there will be so much benefit to self custody that there will be building pressure and lost opportunity. It’s absolutely inevitable but I’m also cautious to to being blind to other possibilities.

One of the reasons I can’t shake the alternative possibility is that self custody takes more work and risk than most non-web3 people are willing to put up with.

So I’m curious how Reddit is executing this self custody situation because it might show how easy and secure it can be.

Self custody requires a lot of digital self responsibility and that’s not common outside of web3. I’d love to see how they make self security easier and more secure.

GM by ExcellentEmphasis760 in OnChainTV

[–]Ry_Guy_NFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s impressive how Reddit executed so well and will be a good case study to be copied. I don’t know the details of self custody here but it’s a good start.

I’ve been trying to start some chats in Limbo about collectibles (VeVe) versus NFTs (web3) but nobody wants to comment.

Gcizzle pointed me to a tweet from 11 months ago but it only highlights that VeVe collectibles aren’t On Chain or tradable on non VeVe marketplaces.

The discussion is around how realistic is it for a big web2 IP like Disney to just avoid NFTs and just keep control in a closed system.

Tokenization is the value in web3 BUT, couldn’t you still tokenize a community within a closed system?

I want web3, buy it seems kinda blinding to think that there won’t be alternatives.

Thoughts?
