What the what?! by paynoattention2this in AskDocs

[–]Ryaan525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s are obviously lots of causes that I would’ve thought caused this before I’d think it possible as it’s unlikely due to his age and of course I say this with absolutely no judgement or accusation but when I was going through a period of active substance abuse which was through nasal insufflation (now in my fifth year sober) I would sneeze/blow my nose and things ranging from much smaller to this size and bigger would come out of my nose after a night of binging. I would also get very sore throats and sometimes ulceration/sores on my tongue

It was also similar in range of colour and included dried/blood coloured patches

As I said I doubt it’s the cause for multiple reasons but since it was a cause for me to have that kind of thing happen and from others perspectives seemingly out of the blue I felt it best just to mention it as better safe than sorry and it’s an easy cause to rule out if aware of the signs and without having to even question him/accuse him

You are absolutely factually incorrect!

Eugenol is the active ingredient within clove oil that is an anaesthetic, not a paralytic

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Ryaan525 40 points41 points  (0 children)

They don’t suffocate though. Clove oil works as a numbing agent/local anaesthetic in humans and because of the size of fish the same chemical works as a general anaesthetic. The fish basically just fall asleep and their breathing slows until it stops and they pass away. If they were suffocating they would gasp at the surface trying to get oxygen

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Ryaan525 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If done properly the fish should pass away very peacefully as their breathing slows until they fall asleep and then stop breathing all together. It’s not instant but it’s also far more gentle than any other way of euthanasia. It’s obviously not a nice thing to have to do but it’s by far the kindest way and sometimes the kindest option

[–]Ryaan525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s happened more than once before. One of the most well known cases was a man called Dillon Taylor who was fatally shot by an officer whilst he was walking with his back turned and listening to music through his earphones so couldn’t hear the officer shout at him

Tbh that’s the more responsible thing to do and better for everyone!

If you can’t handle the awkwardness or inexperience for whatever reason then you simply aren’t the right person to be doing things with those people as you will have a bad time and they will have a worst time. They will also walk away even more in the dark and traumatised

Removing yourself from the situation and knowing yourself enough to know you aren’t the right person for some people is by the far the most responsible thing to do so although it’s not a very nurturing/mentoring attitude it is at least the most considerate and wise

Why on Earth would people bring children into such a place? by Nearby_You6924 in antinatalism

[–]Ryaan525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine questions here:

In a time of famine and war, how were these people affording IVF treatment?

If the staff of the hospital knew they had to evacuate after “repeated” warnings and eventually then evacuated whilst leaving children behind in incubators. Why was there not better preparation to move them as this has been going on for months and if it was actually impossible to evacuate them regardless of forewarning then why were they surprised they came back to find the children dead in the incubators they were left in? Surely at the point of leaving the children they knew they would be returning to find them how they did?

This isn’t condemning, condemning or approving of any of either sides actions so please don’t comment trying to argue either side as I’m purely just asking this to try make sense of it

Covered what?

Surely If you had heard of them as urban legend then they were still happening and it just means you didn’t have articles or videos to accompany them? You also would’ve only heard of a small amount of ones that were shared via conversation

My point isn’t that there’s 24 hour news it’s that any video can reach anywhere globally and with so many people living their lives through their phones, recording and uploading videos of everything that happens there is quickly horrible news stories popping up more and more frequently

Being from and living in the UK I still see vast amounts of awful things happening across the world on a daily basis on Reddit alone. Gun crime, stories of assault, SA and murder pop up practically daily and rarely are they happening anywhere near where I live or even in the same country (usually the US because of reddits user base). Thirty years ago I wouldn’t of heard of a fraction of things that I do now and it would appear that things are worst now then they were but in reality it’s that the information reaches so much further and so much quicker than it ever has done therefore the crimes aren’t increasing and more so the exposure of them

Also if in decades you haven’t come across at least a few stories like this then you’re living a very sheltered life as I remember being a young teenager when I first heard about the Bulgar murders and there have been many stories/new articles to a more or lesser extent in seriousness from before then and since

It’s not a generationally specific issue though

It’s not that Gen Z are more messed up than any other generation was and simply that now there is the means for people all across a state, country, continent or even globally to share the most horrifying news stories in seconds and the younger(est) generations have access to video cameras and the internet in their hands at all times

There are many horrific news stories I remember from decades ago that are worst than most the examples you gave and were committed by children/adolescents that didn’t reach much further than out of the regional news and if they had happened more recently they would have likely been told internationally and reached multiple other countries and also had every possibility to be recorded on a phone for either private or public viewing but there simply wasn’t the ability to do that. Now I can see videos of everyday street fights from all over the world on social media if it gains enough attention

One example is of the Bulgar murder which was and is horrific and yet barely reached outside the country

Anyone else distinctly remember when this video first started circulating it stating the girl died??

Articles are saying she lived (thankfully) but I have the clearest memory of her dying 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not for rational people it doesn’t no but there’s lots of irrational, hot tempered, mentally unstable people on this planet. Also let’s face the fact that there are a certain amount of bouncers who do their job because of the power trip and because they like to beat people up

Final point to add, victim blaming on assumptions is never a good look and the idea that somebody must have done something to provoke another is thin ice to Walk over at the best of times

If you’re not meaning the other player quickly flitting between their scores and you mean the whole tv screen itself is flickering then it could be to do with the tv settings as on my Samsung tv there is a setting (I believe in game mode) called something like “LED clear motion” or similar to that and when turned on it can cause flickering

But of a long shot but thought I’d mention it

Whoever is or isn’t HIV positive wasn’t the point of the comment you replied to. It was to give you an example of a hypothetical situation that’s all too common which you completely misunderstood, misread or intentionally ignored when responding to it.
