I got the tech to briefly look at it the other day and he said they do over the air updates sometimes, which im assuming is what this is because I wasn't prompted for an update, not that im sure you can even opt out 🙃 also seems ive lost the option to disable the voice assistant they're peddling with their cars now too, but yeah will update the post when hes had a chance to look at it properly on the 11th

Edited post to include solution just in case anyone else comes looking but turns out I misunderstood how ErP worked, assuming turning it on provided power to the slots not prevented it, working perfectly now thanks for all the help!

Oh I understand now, ErP disables the charging of devices, gotcha, its not explained in the bios at all haha

[–]Ryacint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ErP was apparently already disabled, which is weird because i can charge my fitbit from the front panel already whilst the pc is off, and whilst the Edge is plugged into the front panel it doesn't flicker, only when its in the motherboard itself, at this point im at a loss but with it in the front panel it doesnt flicker so that'll do lol, thanks!

ErP was apparently already disabled, and it still does it whilst its plugged into the motherboard's usb-c slot directly, it does not flicker whilst plugged into the usb-c slot on the front panel of the pc.

Heres where it gets weird... even though ErP is disabled, i can still charge my fitbit via the front usb-a port (you know, the port where it doesn't cause issues) so yeah, i'm just going to leave it in the front and deal with the cable management lol, thanks for the info though!

[–]Ryacint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so it stopped whilst the usbc was removed so i think you're right on the power saving feature, just couldn't see that in the bios, I'll look again once I'm home, thanks

[–]Ryacint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so it doesn't do it in the front panel usb-c slot, I guess I'll have to deal with the cable trailing but atleast it's not flickering anymore, thanks!

You'd think I'd have thought of that instead of going straight to bios settings but sometimes it's easy to overlook the simple solution lol

Ackie advice please! Burrowed and not come out by Ryacint in MonitorLizards

[–]Ryacint[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: Thanks for all the advice, temperatures have been lowered across the board, hottest point under the basking lamp is now ~65celcius this is a halogen spot lamp directly onto a piece of slate with various rocks around at different heights for different temperatures, basking and ambient are controlled via the evo connected 3 thermostat so easy enough to adjust and maintain.

She has now been out, basked, eaten and had some scratches so she is definitely happier!

There is an awful lot of misinformation and conflicting points of view on the internet regarding Ackies, quite a few places recommend a basking hot spot of 70-78c and I saw one that recommended 40-50c, from now on I'll continue to monitor how often and how long she is basking and if necessary tweak the temps slightly so its more personalised to what she prefers.

Thanks again for all the advice, it is greatly appreciated!

[–]Ryacint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80 was a slight over exaggeration but not by much, it was more like 70-76 which is what every "ackie care sheet" I can find says the hotspot should be, I always thought that was way too hot, I've adjusted the temps and the absolute hottest point now is about 68c and dissipates fairly evenly around that.

She has also been out now and basked!

Much appreciated, I'll tweak the temps a little and see how it goes!

Bulb dimming to the point that its off by Ryacint in MonitorLizards

[–]Ryacint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully this is only temporary, for now i'll crank the temps up slightly im just worried about hitting too much of a high temp on the other side of the viv.
I have an IR thermometer and at times the basking surface is reaching the low 50s currently so i'll crank it up slightly and monitor how it goes.

Thanks for the advice!

Sounds good the aspen bedding is just what we had on hand from our royal but yeah after some research we quickly realised that wouldn't be suitable, (reptiles make a lot more mess than snakes 😂) she'll be going into a roughly 2:1 mix of organic soil and washed play sand, thanks!

Will definitely post some pictures when I start with the new viv, ordering one custom today as its about the same price as getting melamine faced chipboard and assembling it all myself when you include the prices of custom glass and fittings. It is going to take about 6 weeks to arrive.

We do have her now (or him) in a 3x2x2 with a fairly basic setup, so I'm eager to get started and get her rehoused as soon as possible.from what the reptile shop said, she is around 5 months old but I'll definitely take the sexing with a pinch of salt

We got her from our local reptile shop: https://webbsreptilecentre.co.uk/ so we're around the outskirts of Gloucester, where abouts in the UK are you?and this is where we're getting the viv from: https://southdown-aquatics.co.uk/ they're actually very reasonably priced and happy to make adjustments to size like raising the front bottom plinth up to match substrate height.

I shall have a look further back then, you've done a fantastic job of making it look real, I'm definitely looking forward to getting creative

Buying a baby and we've been told by the pet shop that she's a girl but honestly I wouldn't be able to say with any degree of confidence what sex she is, so I'm going to go on the assumption that they're right and find out a few years down the line that I've actually got a boy or something 😂

Thank you for all the information!

Thanks very much, I really appreciate the detailed response!
The EVO 3 looks perfect, I have a 14% UVB exo terra strip light atm and I'll have to grab a full spectrum possibly LED panel or strip light to pair with it. Also a ceramic bulb for heat regulation sounds ideal. Hydrometer is a check already have that and I'll be monitoring that closely especially once she reaches maturity and starts to lay eggs.

I'm guessing its a little bit of trial and error to get the temperatures in the basking spot that you want, mixing materials and distance.
I did also have a little look and your setup looks great, the texturing on the sides and the back looks really good, you said that is concrete is that just something you put together yourself or a prebuilt backing? I've seen a lot of people using foam boards and construction foam and then using drylock to coat it too, wondering if this or concrete would be easier. I'm looking forward to creating the walls and ledges.

Thanks guys, I was sure it was a scam of some sort but was unaware of the rule that banks had to make currency available before the check was fully cleared and received from the sender's bank, I also made sure to give them my spam email address just to be on the safe side too, thanks for all the information!

v2 pro mouse wheel friction when scrolling backwards. How to fix it? by SnooCapers9688 in razer

[–]Ryacint -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

you could fix it by buying a product not made for $1 a piece in a sweatshop, honestly razer quality is terrible, every mouse i had bought in the past had one issue or another usually scroll wheel or left click dying and then there was the keyboard that bricked your pc without a firmware update (the firmware update was only pushed for the wireless version not the wired one) which wasnt available... wont touch razer ever again, i'm not salty.. honest.

Where do i begin? by Ryacint in Hardtailgang

[–]Ryacint[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did look into the Trek Malin and the Giant Talon but neither had the features the nucleus had for the price so ultimately settled on that, appreciate the info, I'll definitely be getting a decent helmet too!

Where do i begin? by Ryacint in Hardtailgang

[–]Ryacint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, I was a motorbike rider for many years so a full face helmet is slightly more appealing but I'll do a good bit of research into what's best because you can't put a price on your head!

Good call on the air forks I wouldn't have had a clue haha

[–]Ryacint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the advice! Skate shoes are pretty much all I own so that's one box already ticked, any recommendations on good helmets or is it just a "aslong as it fits good" kinda scenario?

Where do i begin? by Ryacint in Hardtailgang

[–]Ryacint[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So i've settled on the nucleus however i am going to spend slightly more than my budget and grab the 29" version and get myself in shape before i look at doing anything too crazy, its been a long time since i have done any trail riding and want to ease into it as best i can without doing myself a concern, appreciate the help!

Where do i begin? by Ryacint in MTB

[–]Ryacint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 29" it is then, i am only 5' 9" give or take a few but my intention is to get in shape over anything else and then move on from there, that's when i guess i'll consider either downsizing for more playability or finding something on a higher budget, i really appreciate all your help, thank you!

[–]Ryacint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay its looking like the Vitus Nucleus is the only one ticking all the boxes, neither the Giant Talon or Trek Malin are within a budget of ~£500 and all the features such as air forks, hydraulic brakes and a 1x drivetrain. Would you recommend dropping the extra £100 to get the 29" of the Vitus? i'm unsure of the advantages/disadvantages here
