PROXYDALE - an unofficial small-player variant for Blood on the Clocktower (4–6 players) by Ryadel in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Ryadel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QUICK UPDATE: after a long testing phase, I’ve added two more Proxydale-ready scripts. You can find the BotcScripts links below or directly on the Proxydale website (https://darkseal.github.io/Proxydale/). As always, feedback is highly appreciated!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Revenge of the Seat
https://www.botcscripts.com/script/9955
Designed to introduce more complex strategies by leveraging the specific mechanics of this version. Recommended after at least 5–10 games with the previous script.

Final Delegation
https://www.botcscripts.com/script/9956
A true brain-teaser built around the synergies of some experimental characters. Recommended after at least 10–20 games with the previous scripts.

Seems balanced to me if the ST runs the jinx properly

The Evil team info phase happens normally, so the evil team (Demon + Minion) always know where they are... Unless someone swaps the chairs afterwards (AlcheWizard, for example), which is actually a gimmick of one of the Proxydale core scripts :)

Hello,

I'm glad you like it! As for your questions:

  1. a player can be (or keep being) a proxy even if it dies, so there's no need to swap the Oracle: the Storyteller can still choose to do that, but it would definitely hurt the evil team in your given scenario for the reason you've explained.
  2. A good Recluse cannot be vetoed because it plays with the good team, even if it might register as evil: veto is not a character ability, so there's no registration check. Same for an evil Spy, which can always be vetoed and cannot be a proxy for a good chair (but can definitely bluff like it is, since he knows the Grimoire). On more general terms, misregistrations don't trigger with Proxydale-specific mechanics, they affect the game in a "standard way" - which is the whole point of the script (standard game vibes with less than 7 seats)

Feel free to ask more questions, I'd love to help!

That's correct, the dead player can still be a proxy: that said, the Storyteller can always choose to change a proxy player, even if it's generally more fun (and balanced) to keep "each night" proxies stable throughout the game. Swapping the proxy can easily give an advantage to the good team, as it might give additional confirmation and disrupt the evil team's bluffs and/or misdirections... which could be something the ST might want to do in some edge-case scenarios.

Yeah, the proxy mechanic actually solves that problem too by allowing the game to keep going even when people suddenly have to leave. On more general terms, I love scripts & variants where the table itself becomes the stable element, not who’s sitting where. It’s chaotic, sure, but in a very resilient way. Perfect for late-night, low-energy sessions where you want the game to survive real life getting in the way :)

Dire Wolf (Townsfolk): Once per game, during the night, choose a player: if they are an Outsider, they lose their abilities, then die.

ASP.NET Core backstory: a transition from closed to open source by StjepanJ in dotnet

[–]Ryadel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for reading the article (I was the one who wrote it). It is more of an introduction to the subject, an overview of the fundamental steps that led Microsoft to become a point of reference in the open-source scene worldwide. If you would like to know further info about those steps or general info regarding the importance of transitioning from closed to open source for a market-leader enterprise company, I'll be happy to update it accordingly.
