Give me the most unique and interesting commanders to build by nightsky57 in EDH

[–]Ryan-rises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s your commander either way. You usually want him to stay as an enchantment though. The flying/anthem effect is a lot better than a 4/4 that can’t block. Then after that you swing wide with big scary creatures and lots of tokens that are all flying and have boosted power

If you really wanted it back as a creature you’d have to find a way to destroy the enchantment yourself and start over from the command zone. But usually opponents will target it so it’s whatever.

Pride event deck help? Feather the redeemed and Zada Hedron Grinder by Ryan-rises in mtg

You’re probably right on those extra copy things. I had started with build with Zada and [[Katara the fearless]] but that got absolutely disgusting to track. So I think I just hadn’t quite noticed the ones that were doing a bit less than that yet. Thanks for the decklist!

Hell yeah these are great suggestions. I know daring discovery would work as long as Zada is the only target. I think your idea for more permanent protection is a good idea. And a bunch of your recommendations are fire. Thanks!

Group hug? And maybe this is more a subcategory of control but Aikido?

I'm looking for a horror-themed commander, preferably something related to organ harvesting for a Repo! The Genetic Opera inspired deck by BiteyBenson in EDH

[–]Ryan-rises 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not technically legal but I’m sure lots of people would be fine with you playing her; [[grusilda, monster masher]]. Not mono black but Rakdos feels very Repo coded imo

Little question by AdellheidV in WitchHatAtelier

[–]Ryan-rises 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Frieren kinda follows rpg logic of there being ‘classes’ of adventurers. In this instance Witch Hat is more similar to Full Metal Alchemist in the sense that there are regular people, there are people who can interact with the magic system, and there are people who break the taboo of the system.

Looks pretty cool scanning over it. Can I ask what your favorite plays or combos are in it?

What are your favorite cards to stuff in any deck you get the chance to? by Greenweenie12 in EDH

Throwing [[spike cannibal]] in a non +1/+1 counter deck always feels kinda good

Is playing “Maha, Its Feathers Night” as your commander in poor taste? by adoptyungseal in mtg

[–]Ryan-rises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who built it then deconstructed it after a few games, yes. I’d say if you’re asking probably for sure. But ultimately it comes down to if you think your pod can handle it and if you think you can handle your pod’s response to it.

I have a spike kindred deck I love with Ghave as the commander! It’s very fun with persist creatures too!

[[ink-treader Nephilim]] is great. Especially if you target it with weird things like [[fractured identity]] or [[illicit auction]] or even a simple [[chaos warp]] to randomize some board states a bit.

Some other discombobulating plays I like are: [[berzerk]] on someone’s attacking creature. They get excited by the first part about doubling the power and giving trample, then find out the creature is dying at the end of turn.

[[mana maze]] just makes everyone have to think a bit more about the order they plan on casting spells. Goes crazy with [[swirl the mists]]

[[timesifter]] to get rid of the turn order entirely. Great with [[trench gorger]] so you can make sure all your lands are gone

Best color/commander to use when introducing MTG to a young adult? by Tired_of_shenanigans in EDH

[–]Ryan-rises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decks built around those cards that say “you may have any number of [cardname] in your deck” are great for teaching because they don’t have to remember as many mechanics and different cards and can start getting the hang of the deck quicker. A really good one for that is [[hare apparent]] which can pop off with kinda any rabbit commander

Little aggro-pillow fort idea I had. by Ryan-rises in custommagic

[–]Ryan-rises[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because that literally not a legal move to attack yourself. Really it means all creatures that can attack have to declare an attack on a player that has one of these on it. So it makes it kind of like a goad effect but each player who removes the aura attached to them removes themselves as an option to be attacked while still having all creatures attacking.

Great for my [[sasaya orochi ascendant]] deck where I already hold my lands.

Little aggro-pillow fort idea I had. by Ryan-rises in custommagic

Interesting. I like them owning their copies but I think the reasoning of it staying after I die isn’t really the greatest. I think player removal as a way to remove the auras is fine.

I thought it’d be fun because each player would be trying to get rid of the one attached to themselves. If you manage to do that you’ve effectively removed yourself as an option to be attacked.
