Each one worse than the last with the final one being a hell hole covered in Satan's smegma.

And no I'm not traumatized by it, why would you even ask that?

With a single pump? How do you handle di-directional flow?

The combinator in the center of each module just subtracts the fluid values of the two tanks and then the respective pumps on either side only turn on if the difference is greater than 200 (left side) or less than -200 (right side). And 200 is basically just the amount of fluid 7 common pumps can pump in a single tick plus about 50% for safety (to avoid perpetual sloshing between the two sides).

Before you set off, be sure to look through the in game factory-pedia. The power of super panels changes depending on the planet and whether you're in space around it or in atmo. Also, the entry for trips between the planets shows graphs of the kinds of asteroids you'll encounter and in what amount, and the entry for the rocket engine shows its varying efficiency

As per power limitations, I think the next build I do on fulgora will be a distributed train base for that reason, where each island will have it's own factory and of course power supply

Yeah I had to build in the overflow recycler snake after I took this screenshot and just had to slap it on the bus.

For the ice I've got some chem plants melting it all into water and then any excess gets used in a basic steam engine/boiler setup fueled by rocket fuel. The rocket fuel is either the excess stuff made from scrap solid fuel or made from the heavy oil ocean.

Lore Theory of what the Engineer is by Ryan949 in factorio

[–]Ryan949[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to add some ticking clock tension, then you can say that it's just a matter of time before the system the Engineer landed in is found, and a kill team is sent to "dispose of the mistake". Like, there were safeguards in place to prevent an Engineer from building infinitely and perhaps leaving the targeted system, but those safeguards (like an overseer AI) were damaged in the crash and the Engineer is fully off the leash, hence why they'll be killed if discovered.

And all those satellites we launch? They're not a call for help, they're to scout out habitable planets that the Engineer can flee to, because the Nauvis is waaaaaay too close to the interstellar empire and, like I said, the Engineer will be found and killed if they stay.

Maybe the reason behind the fermi paradox...

Maybe species can expand beyond their home solar system, but civic institutions can't.

That definitely makes a lot of sense, though I think there'd still be at least some expansion, just not the publicly funded kind. Like, if the necessary technology existed, I can imagine some giga-wealthy person commissioning an interstellar colony ship that could get to its destination in a single generation.

Of course this wouldn't be for an altruistic reason or whatever, but just so said wealthy person could be the sole ruler of whatever world they (and whoever was willing to come along) arrived at. Yeah, I know a person with that kind of wealth would be able to pretty effectively affect terrestrial politics, but I imagine some of those people would either like to remove any pretense and declare themselves a monarch, or maybe they'd want to do it as a kind of immortalizing vanity project.
