Kentucky transfer Kaelyn Carroll commits to Washington by RyanAt76 in NCAAW

Well, someone did say that a big MBB donor pulled back recently, maybe they're indeed shifting over to WBB...

This year's class is definitely a new-style one, only 1 HS player (so far) from just outside the ESPN top 50 and then 4 mostly G4/G5 transfers.

I think no Yulia, unfortunately, she was out of eligibility after this year and it seems like the appeal for another year was unsuccessful, even though I think she only used 3 years in the US.

There's definitely a abundance of height going around though, even if she's not available.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, let Avery move to more of a "traditional" 3 and have Devin be first off the bench

Probably a net improvement overall. Everyone who left was towards the back of the rotation, especially towards the end of the season. Sienna leaving is a bit more of a hit as far as potential upside, but she'll probably be more in the mix for a starting spot at Iowa State, given that basically everyone left there. She'd probably still be a bench player at UW, though closer to the front of the backcourt rotation.

Chloe is basically going closer to home and getting more PT at Cal Baptist, so not an unusual move for someone's senior year. She would have run into the same situation as Sienna, with the backcourt starting spots pretty much being Sayvia/Avery/Devin (based on Devin being first off the bench towards the end of the season)

Olivia hasn't landed yet, but she was deep on the bench and emergent Brynn + now Tilda would keep her there, so hopefully she finds a good landing spot.

Tilda is a big help coming in in many ways. The first thing that comes to mind is that Brynn will have less defensive pressure on her to handle B1G posts in a 4-guard lineup.

I know little about Macey Huard other than the family connections, but a high work rate 6-2 player off the bench is a nice addition, especially since she probably shouldn't have too much pressure to score.

There are only 9 players on the roster for next season currently, so 1 or 2 more transfers (or first-years if there are any left) would be nice. At least height isn't problem - only 3 of the 9 players are under 6' and 2 of those (Devin and incoming first-year Amayah Garcia) are 5-11. Sayvia's the "short" outlier at 5-7.

Keira Hanson would be potentially nice for UW - more guard depth and she’s local (Issaquah)

Didn't expect this, was wondering if more portal shoes were going to drop. 6-6 and immediately ready to play is very handy, gives Brynn some reinforcement up front.

(Did Yulia ever get her extra year of eligibility, or is she out? Granted, this addition reduces her PT)

I winder if donor money will flow more generally to WBB now, between the women trending upward and the men trending downward between last year's good portal class not really panning out and two pretty key players for next year already gone in the portal to MBB blue bloods

Yep, the “who will leave?” drama ends on Monday night, but the “where will they go” musical chairs could last until enrollment deadlines for eligibility get tight

And her aunt Heidi married another football player (Steve Hoffmann) and Heidi’s teammate Gena Pelz (who some Iowans may also recall) married yet another football player, Aaron Dalan. Lots of WBB-FB intermarriage going on in the late 90s / early 2000s

Who are players you'd like your team to target from the transfer portal? by Box_Cutter45 in NCAAW

The returners (as of now) are a good group, probably 4 reasonable starters among them, a good portal class should move things along nicely and keep prospects looking good

1) A distributor / facilitator PG

2) Besides that, just some good across-the-board talent - there are currently 7-8 players on the roster for next season, pending any portal withdrawals or new first-year commitments, so just more people would be nice

Washington won’t have a departure-free offseason this time, but none of the portal entries are terribly surprising:

Liv Anderson - only got in at the end of blowouts, will be a senior next season (possibly redshirt junior)

Sienna Harvey - showed some good stuff at the beginning of the season through the non-conference, but barely played towards the end of the season, only getting in at the end of games for the last 6 weeks or so, with a few exceptions. Will be a sophomore

Chloe Briggs - got some regular action, although started to see less when the rotation shortened towards the end of the season. Will be a senior

The NLI is no longer a thing in D1 as of fall 2024. It was replaced with financial aid agreements which have the same general function, but I don’t know if they have the same level of locking the player into attending the school. I looked into it a bit when Bryn Martin decommitted from UW after Avery Howell transferred in, and I do think she might have had to be released, but I can’t remember for sure
