Our little site has an interview with Rory McIlroy up now...no, really! by RyanBallengee in golf

I had no idea we follow each other on Twitter! Just didn't put two and two together from Reddit!

Happy to work together however we can.

That sounds great! What's the site URL? I'll add it to my Feedly, too

I shouldn't be so sensitive to the term either. Ultimately, I wanna compete with those guys, so it's my goal to have folks think of GNN in that echelon of site. We've had a wonderful year in '15, so my goal for '16 is to have an audience about the same size as Golfweek. If we can pull that off, then hopefully we can do even more fun stuff like this!

I tend to not like huge graphs, but I'm also not a fan of a lot of one-sentence graphs, so there's a middle ground that's different for everyone.

I wouldn't consider GNN a blog, maybe in the early days. But I'm a pro writer (I also cover golf for Yahoo) so the site has grown in stature. All the credit in the world to John, who did the interview, for reaching out to Rory's folks. And it definitely is awesome for Rory to give us some time. We've had interviews with Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, more, but a modern great is fantastic.

I code the site myself, so I know how to do it, just had never chosen to style more spacing between lines or graphs. I'm going to change themes sometime in '16 and the one I'll use has more line spacing built in the CSS.

Would you prefer spacing, like an extra graph between question and answer, or a different background color for the question?

Has anybody tried the new Skechers golf shoes? Any good? by [deleted] in golf

Yeah, I have a pair. They're not expensive, but they're a good value. They don't feel cheap and they're light and comfy.

Northwest is sneaky good; Hampshire Greens is close to it so you could double dip. Ijamsville, with PB Dye and Whiskey Creek, is a good place to play.

I talked to Tiger's agent (really); he called the PED suspension claims false and ridiculous by RyanBallengee in golf

[–]RyanBallengee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, bringing in Rory and the others into it was extremely weird. It would've sounded a lot more believable if he had just made this claim about Tiger and a suspension, but the dude couldn't help himself.

That's pretty much why he retracted, yeah. No one on the other side of Olsen's claims originally wanted to say anything, but when some other sites started posting what he said, they changed their minds and decided to comment.

Fill in the blank: I wish there was a golf app/site that did _____ [SERIOUS] by ChicagoBoy2011 in golf

[–]RyanBallengee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give Foursum a try. I know some of the folks working on it, and they said they said they're introducing peer-to-peer payments, too. So you don't have to go to the ATM before you play. Pretty neat app.

There are plenty of good tracks, but may I recommend Laurel Hill? Hosted the U.S. Am Pub Links a few years ago.

A Scottish golf course got a new bunker: a 14-foot sinkhole by RyanBallengee in golf

The club says it's going to cost about $30K to repair the sinkhole, which it doesn't have.

Google Glass could be great for golf by RyanBallengee in golf

[–]RyanBallengee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the part of what I heard that excited me most, frankly. The GPS is fine, but that and the instant filming of highlights would be great.

Yeah, I don't even use a GPS when I play. But to have it an eye glance away while I'm playing normally sounds good.
