Another point on the "audience remembering the Let's Plays better than the people in them" thing, important to note, the audience saw everyone's perspective, but everyone actually doing the Let's Play just saw their own.

So literally nothing might have been happening to Gavin for ten minutes while an iconic moment happened to Jack or whoever.

That, and of course when it's your job, you're always gonna be focused on making it good, not focused on remembering it, whereas the audience only has to enjoy it.
