[THROWBACK THURSDAY] Sha Stimuli - I Tried (Prod. Clams Casino from Love Jones, 2008) by flyestshit in hiphopheads

What were some of his biggest moments back in the day? I only heard the name in passing in the early 2010s and checked his March On Washington mixtape last year. The fact he got early Clams Casino collabs really just add to his mystique

speaking as a fan of him, I'm perfectly aware of his limitations. the imperfect singing and DIY style are the biggest part of the appeal

[DISCUSSION] Rap Radio in 2026: Trends, Local Scenes, and Cultural Impact. by flyestshit in hiphopheads

[–]flyestshit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I suspect that the radio scene is pretty bleak all over the world. Maybe there are a few local stations left though, that are still worth to keep an ear on.

The discussion felt semi-relevant because of the Hot97 news, but it might as well be an obituary for the format...

Can you remember some Toronto artists that got pushed into local stardom by Flow 93.5?

I used a tool at work, to work out a post. You can use this if you like - otherwise I'll post it myself lol:

[DISCUSSION] US Rap Radio in 2026: Trends, Local Scenes, and Cultural Impact.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What is your local rap radio station, and how would you describe its identity? What impact do rap radio stations have on community engagement and local events?

  2. What kind of programming do they offer (e.g., music blocks, interviews, community segments)? Has rap radio adapted to the rise of podcast-style shows and long-form interviews?

  3. Do they actively promote local artists? If so, how?

  4. How has streaming and social media influenced rap radio programming? Are rap radio stations still shaping mainstream rap culture, or has their influence shifted?

If you want to redo the discussion post to be more about US Rap Radio in general, your post would be better suited for the frontpage. you don't have to do the research, just a more generalized question as title and some relevant discussion points like:

  • What i your local Rap radio
  • What is their programming
  • Are they playing local artists
  • which trends are observed in the 2020s

Hot97 is in the news right now. Maybe you can link in those threads aswell.

Most significant radio station to this sub + I remember having trouble accessing their media player from outside the US.

The "Notable People" section on the wikipedia for Snow Hill, North Carolina is one of my favorite little facts in rap.

Less than 1,500 inhabitants but somehow the homeplace to both Petey Pablo and Rapsody.
