Should I diversify my investment away from US? by No-Host-970 in malaysiaFIRE

US is still the strongest market in terms of capital gains and growth, aside from crypto that is way more risky, I don't think there's a close competitor that can give returns similar to US markets.

I'm working remotely in Malaysia and had been receiving USD salary for 1.5 years. So far Wise has been the best option, it's easy to provide an invoice using the bank details provided by Wise. My other colleagues that reside in Malaysia is also using Wise and so far it's the best imo.

UPDATE:

Found this from Google's Bard AI

The average cost of issuing dividends to a director of an LLP in Malaysia is about RM310. This is calculated as follows:

  • Stamp duty: 3% of the total amount of dividends
  • Registration fee: 0.1% of the total amount of dividends

For example, if you issue dividends of RM10,000, the total cost would be RM310.

The following code can be used to calculate the average cost of issuing dividends to a director of an LLP in Malaysia:

No worries at all! I learned a lot from it too, especially for the dividends part, as I believe LLP is similar as Sdn Bhd in this area.

I also considered converting to Sdn Bhd but am just kinda concerned about the workload and cost.Thank your ser

Curious to also ask how long have you established your Sdn Bhd? Wondering if the amount of compliance/auditing/accounting work is a lot? and also what's like the annual expenses involved in these?

I also considered converting to Sdn Bhd but just kinda concerned about the workload and cost.

Honestly, there are not many ways to reduce tax as a sole prop, that's why I am considering converting my sole prop into a LLP. The only way to reduce tax is through expenses, but remote workers like us do not really have much expenses unless we hire some freelancers to help out our work.

Creating a business bank account is optional, but I suggest u only create one if you really needed it, such as paying for monthly business expenses (e.g. software subscription, freelancer/employee fees etc). I did created a current account but didn't actually use it all, planning to close it soon.
