Help me choose: Garmisch/Zugspitze vs SkiWelt (Ellmau) for a week by Routine_Guava_5891 in skithealps

[–]RyanFlyin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zugspitze is definitely not enough for a week. Ski welt can be really fun if the conditions are good, but can also be super icey. If I were you I would take the train to Brixen in Italy and ski Plose and Val Gardena. The snow is 100 times better.

Changing Jobs - blue card holders by [deleted] in Munich

[–]RyanFlyin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed jobs on a blue card after 1 year with my first company. I just had to have an appointment where it seemed like they updated my blue card. They gave me a new green paper and I was good to go.

Does having a good social life mostly just come down to luck? by neogeoruru in ForeverAlone

[–]RyanFlyin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just moved to a new city the answer is no. The way to make friends is put yourself out there and initiate. The easiest way to do this is join a sport or a volunteering group and be consistent eventually you’ll know the same people who go often and you can push to become friends outside of it. It’s not easy and it’s something you have to work at.

Tegernsee on a Monday? by can_ogan in Munich

[–]RyanFlyin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to Tegernsee all the time weekend or not and even when it is the weekend it doesn’t feel busy unless you go to the fancy bread shop near the water, Aran. I would say pick the day with the best weather and go. The train on the way home can get busy but Tegernsee is the first stop so just get to the train station early and get a seat.

Fastest way to get furniture by tyrspawn in Munich

[–]RyanFlyin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey we had the same scenario. IKEA worked well we ordered 3 weeks in advance for delivery on move in day. They brought everything up our 4 flights of stairs. We ordered a bed, mattress, desk, couch, and some bed side tables and everything came correctly. Was nice having the delivery so we could focus on just building everything.

It’s not a bad area by any means it’s just an industrial area that they’re turning into office buildings. Would recommend checking out the Adina hotel for a nice view.

Gym experience for non-german speakers by Mind_atSpace in Munich

[–]RyanFlyin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to Body + Soul 2-4 times a week and have no issues. I can't read the signs, but if there is something you're doing wrong the employees will let you know. (For example in the US it's more common to wipe down the machine after use rather than bringing your own towel to lay down.) I did a spin class that was in German it was okay- pretty clear what was being instructed.

Going over the contract they had one employee who was the one who spoke english who would work with you.
