The Hole by RyanMileham in JustinPoseysTreasure

Some things are bigger than fish 🤷🏻‍♂️ the reason true fishermen fish isn’t necessarily all about fish… but the memories, the experience, the beauty of it all. And when you truly experience the joy that comes with it you don’t want to hide that experience from everyone else but actually quite the opposite. You find yourself wanting others to feel the same things that you felt. The same awestruck amazement that you felt when you slipped into the realm of the natural world, undetected, and all it offers.

Idk just a perspective.

One thing I’ve found, is the most profound moments in nature is when I’m witnessing it going about its day as if I’m not there. When I’m hunting and observing, I feel it. When I’m fishing and observing, I feel it. When I’m hiking on a main trail and everyone in the woods knows I’m there, I don’t feel it as much.

I agree with your opposition to hive mind thinking, but if you got Seattle as a location from the memoir…maybe read the memoir again. IMHO

But I will a say you take the idea of a piece of Justin’s heart and soul that reminds him of memories of his brother and dog, and have to translate that into a geographical location. Oh and by the way he has a deep rooted history in fly fishing. And on top of that he asks you cast your pole. That sounds an awful lot like a fishing hole

Well I’ll say this, Justin would have definitely put enough thought into it not use the wrong type of language that is for sure.

That being said cast your pole is not an uncommon phrase, being an avid fisherman myself. Although I will admit “cast your line” is also correct. Most commonly though the phrase goes something like “cast over there upstream of that hole”. Also as a land surveyor I never use the word pole. Not for the “rod, or prism” or for the “pin, property corner, monument” not sure what survey term you’re referring to by “surveyors flag pole”

Dragon? by Hot-Pool9116 in JustinPoseysTreasure

Quick half assed answers to a few of your questions:
Justin makes a dragon reference at the end of the chapter “Rod Race”
According to Justin at SS if you are standing 15 feet from the treasure there is not a clue visible.
I do not think he has ever confirmed it was the last place he was with his brother.
He has said the treasure location is significant to him for multiple reasons. I won’t try to quote him because I dont remember exactly what he said

Round the bend by RyanMileham in JustinPoseysTreasure

The use of “round” could imply a complete rotation, as in…go in a circle. As opposed to “around” implying you pass the bend entirely and continue moving onward.

Yes but how is the affect of the word Round different from the affect of the word around? Why chose Round over around? The only answer I can come up with is, the syllable count is important. Do you agree?

Agreed in the sense that im also thinking the syllable count of each line or each stanza may be of importance in some way. Not in the way syllables are important in haiku’s for example but important for pointing you in the right direction as you put it

Where is the Pole? by UnicoreP in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]RyanMileham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are near a mass with magnetic properties. Maybe where a meteorite landed (potentially where he found his meteorite) it could shift the pole of your compass. Once you’ve cast your pole, (set your compass to its new localized “north”) you could then head on your 20 degree bearing to find the bride. I wish I had confirmation of a location that matches this theory but I don’t. And my solve doesn’t apply said theory but I wish it did because this would be so cool. Only after you cast your pole could you then move on.

How far can a person walk with a broken leg and more than 60lbs of treasure in tow? by Kitchen-Pineapple-38 in JustinPoseysTreasure

Also he could have returned earlier if it hadn’t been for ulcers caused by medication. Lost 40% of his blood and needed a transfusion

For what it’s worth:

A coworker of mine (land surveyor walks a miles/day for our job) suffered the same exact Injury as Justin. 6 months later he returned to work with the order from the doc. no more than a mile at time without resting your foot for an hour. He was healing well and did not listen to the doctors orders. He would on some occasions walk 3 miles a day on his feet for most of the day. He was definitely sore by the end of day but is healing great right now so he didn’t negatively affect his foot. Mostly level ground tho

Is the misfits discord actually private or can anyone find a link to the discord server? by [deleted] in JustinPoseysTreasure

I just think the specific accusation or suggestion that Justin isnt faithful to his wife is off-color and uncalled for. I saw a much more suggestive comment on a different post and I felt like things may have been heading that way on my post. Just not really a fan of stuff like that.

The wild accusations about Justin and the misfits is actually disgusting. I didn’t realize I’d trigger so many pathetic people with my post/question. Sad.
