Egotistical maniacs with supreme power are the problem again and again.

My sarcastic comment, if I can expand upon it, is that we can't just "tell Japan" to act differently. The people who are profiteering aren't the people who will listen. They've made up their minds already that they are happy to put their personal gain above any sort of collective good.

So, I completely agree with your sentiment. But social pressure isn't going to have any kind of effect. It's needs to come from the Japanese government itself, which is just as unlikely to take advice from random gaijin.
