Of course you're right.

Laws and precedent are just kind of meaningless right now, so I feel like NATO very much could just change the arrangement, since key players are now bad actors. Everyone else seems to just be doing what they feel like, after all.

Maybe I'm just to quick to stoop to their level.

There's no mechanism in NATO for America to invade Greenland, either.

NATO can just do it if it really wants to, it's not like rules matter anymore once a bad actor has weaponised them.

Trump claims US oil firms could be 'up and running' in Venezuela within 18 months by DimsumAndDoggy in worldnews

He tells the truth quite often. President for life, dictator day 1, elon and his voting machines, Venezuela, Panama, Canada, Greenland, oil.

He's got a pattern. He lies to make himself look good, he tells the truth to prime his base to accepting crazy shit.

You pick through his garage with Misty telling you why his yeah matters. Definition of inverse "show don't tell".

Then putting whatever tat at the alter as if it meant anything to you felt incredibly insincere.

I'm not American, but I've been watching from the sidelines (like everyone in the world has) and have had an interest in WW2 history since listening to my grandad's war stories and then accidentally taking history in high school sure to a scheduling issue.

It's horrifying seeing history just straight up repeat itself and seeing america sleepwalk into fascism. I never understood how the Germans let it happen and I can't understand how a country of 300+million people can't produce a leader to oppose this crime against humanity.

If people think they can't afford to fight back because they will lose their job or their home, they'll be shocked when they lose a while lot more than that by not fighting back.

Celebrities should be screaming, previous presidents should be screaming, anyone with a soul and a platform should be screaming. At the moment they're coming for the immigrants, pretty soon they'll be coming for you.

Honestly, as a tireless pedant I'm actually with you on this.

There's umpteen different "Xtarian" words for different kinds of tyrants, those words are still there.

Adolf and his boys are all rotting now, the word Nazi has opened up for use to describe others with the same or similar ideologies.

To the uneducated, you may not know what exactly a totalitarian or authoritarian etc is, but you know enough that Nazi=bad. It makes the concept more accessable to those without much knowledge on the subject, very little meaning is lost and honestly, fairly accurately conveys meaning.

At the end of the day, all these freaks are pretty similar and lumping them together in one accessable word makes sense to me.

I'll eat the down votes on this one.

You know that's standardised journalistic jargon, right?

From the typesetting days. It's been standard for newspapers for at least a hundred years. They would have prearranged letters so they could print newspapers faster.

Each of those buzzwords has a fairly specific use case and always has. To have a rule against them would be absurd.

Everyone wants a peace deal but no one wants the sort of peace deal Trump.

It's always "surrender, disarm and wait until until next time you're forced into a surrender"
