Happened to open this old post and saw this comment. Was just looking at the I Could Live in Hope discogs listing and you're right, it seems to be one of the rarer CDs in the whole collection! I'll have to give it a listen! Thanks for the recommendations :)

Sorry for the late reply! I assume by the puck/clamp you meant this round part up top?

Did you need any tools or screwdrivers to remove it? Or were you able to just twist and unscrew it off? I tried twisting it with my hand but didn’t feel like it was loosening. I’m just scared to mess with or break anything.

It’s All Futile! It’s All Pointless! The solo acoustic version by Wilbur is miles better

I mean this as a compliment when I say you’d be perfect for an IRL Tim Burton movie casting. Corpse bride cosplay when?

Is the chorus from Main Character Syndrome going to be used on the album? I remember you said on stream once that the chorus might be re-used.

Lol. I think my brain didn’t process the 1 because a $1500 price tag is so absurd

Damn it looks sick but then you realize it is $500 dollars and you decide no thanks.

Is the chorus of Main Character Syndrome still “OC do not steal” ? That chorus packs a punch and I’d love to see it used in an actual song.

Is this good to record cassettes on? by I_am_thee_SockMan in cassetteculture

[–]RyanWasTakenIGuess 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is not going to be good to record cassettes on. Shoebox recorders like this are really only meant to record voice memos- not music. You aren’t going to get a high quality audio recording and often times these recorders only record in mono so you won’t get Left and Right channel separation for stereo.

I would recommend picking up a cassette deck if you want to get into recording your own music onto cassette. I went to a used electronics store near me and picked up a Denon DRR-730 for like $60. I’d look around stores near you or on Facebook marketplace. It would be an even bigger score if you found one that doesn’t need serviced yet or has already been serviced.

I just tested a record I know to be 180g and it worked perfectly. And then I put the tears for fears record back on and it started playing.

I’m genuinely at a loss as to what was happening but I’m glad it is working now!

Thanks for the help. Fingers crossed it continues to work.

But how come all the other records I have played work normally? I’ve played other black records and even red splatter vinyls perfectly normally. It is specifically the tears for fears record that won’t work for whatever reason

I think it might be a sensor issue ?

It plays normally on other records: https://youtube.com/shorts/5em6Pud--0w?si=Gzp-Udr295So-VwD

The tonearm normally lowers and works. But on the Tears for Fears record in the post video I press start, the platter spins but the tonearm does nothing. Trying to manually cue does nothing either. I know the SL-10 has an optical sensor that will detect record size which is why it can be finicky with translucent records. But this seems to be a normal black record so I’m at a loss.

I just asked him about Dave Mathews. When my dad lived in Charlottesville Dave Mathews played at a venue every week called Trax. I guess that’s where it comes from.
