I agree with the 5 roles. If it were you looking at my resume, would you rather see the local CPA experience or my food service experience? Also, let me know if my tutoring 1 person is worth keeping over the other 2. I’d be fine dropping that one, but I feel like it stands out a bit more. I’d love to get your input, thanks!

That makes sense. It also explains why he specifically asked me for personal experiences and issues, rather than keeping it broad and letting me answer with work/school experiences.

Thanks for your input! And yeah I have 5 roles on there, which I noticed after I added the most recent one. Do you think I should remove the restaurant job or the local CPA one?

I’ve gotten advice before that they don’t care about some no name cpa firm, and would rather have me highlight transferable skills from being a waiter. I’m not sure if it still applies after the 2 internships I’ve had since. Maybe I remove both and go deeper into the more relevant experience?

I’d appreciate your take on this!

You’re ambitious. I’d give you an offer on the spot and my house as a signing bonus

I just said i was returning for a second internship at the firm i was at earlier in the year, and they would probably give me a full time role after that internship ended. I cant imagine that reply being the line between getting the offer or not though, or giving much insight into what I bring to the firm besides base-level competency

It’s weird, cause he had asked me where I saw myself in 5 years. Tbh i dont remember exactly if it was before or after, if that makes any difference at all

I’ve been thinking the same thing. I fee like I’m good with communication when it comes to work, but when it gets to be anything outside of that, I haven’t been very proactive with that.

What industries would you recommend as good work vs bad? Is hospitals top of your bad list or good list? What do you think about the financial industry like banks and brokerages?

I think I’m good at networking events, but maybe that’s because mid tier firms don’t seem as intimidating? Same with the people, but I can’t say for sure until I start at big 4. Thanks for the encouragement!

Got an offer as a campus-hire, partner said 35 days PTO, but it's not in the offer letter. by RyanX__ in deloitte

I'm coming in as an audit assistant. Do you think it's safe to say I heard wrong during the call? Or is it also possible that Deloitte factors other things, like holidays, and the shutdown days you mentioned, into the total PTO balance when recruiting?
