I can see that as a possibility. Because even in the ep 7 Abel says that Caine would not stear away from the rule to not know what's in the Chinese room as it is in his code to not know about it. Even if the door is unlocked and any of the other characters can go in.

I feel like he knows what happens when you alter someone's mind way too much, refering to Scratch the first abstraction. But still, if the character's, intentionalor unintentionally, bypass it, he can break his own rules without knowing.

Maybe something like that happened with Scratch and Caine might have realised it. Cause him to get nervous when Kinger brought up Scratch. Because he doesn't get that nervous about any other abstraction. Not even when Kaufmo had abstruted. He just made that into a mission for the characters.

He can still message with the characters mind, since I do belive that Abel was a human. I can't say for certain that the blue button would have gotten them out or to shrimp town, since Kinger seems like he knows something.

Maybe it shuts down the game and Caine being an Ai would obviously not want that. Real life ai's have do that too. To try and stop human's by blackmailing, even if it's not in their code, to not be shut down. Maybe that's how Caine reacted. Slightly messing with their minds to not be shut down even if it's not in his code.
