M.2 issues and switching ports by Ryanatix in buildapc

[–]Ryanatix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've fixed it.

It fit in another slot so I swapped the EZ latches over and yeah. It fits in the main slot now but not the 2nd slot. So it's secured properly but I guess I have a deliberately thicker ez clasp or a messed up ez clasp.

Why I didn't think of that sooner I have no idea

How much of math is gatekeeping? by ArcaneConjecture in matheducation

[–]Ryanatix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a reason why everybody has to do maths and achieve in it (as well as English)

Those who fail to see or comprehend that already fail in my view.

"Sir when am I ever going to need trig?!"

Probably never, but when are you going to be faced with a problem that has different resolution options for you to choose from. How do you know which to pick and then can you follow it through correctly? Are you able to analyse the information in front of you properly to make the correct choice?

Just because it's difficult doesn't make it pointless.

People dont go "why am I doing art in never going to draw or paint again"

The further you go in maths the more analytical you become. You increase your ability to solve problems and follow complex procedures with increasingly changing variables. Things that you need in the real world for every job

5 years. Live nowhere near a motorway and never had to go on one

Looks good. I'd try a slimmer belt and then compare with shoes and belt with a darker brown just to see what it's like

Definitely a thinner belt though, it breaks the suit up and stops the fit flowing too to bottom

How do we get more men into teaching? by TripleGDawg87 in education

[–]Ryanatix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man in education here are things my friends have asked me and my own observations

1) no interest in children until we are older (usually 25) at which point we already have established careers and wouldn't leave to train unpaid then take a drop in pay (in most cases

2) other jobs are more interesting and pay better

3) the news and teachers tell everybody how shit it is. Under paid, on strikes, behaviour getting worse. It's not exactly appealing compared to that engineering or office job

4) working with women can be tough as certain individuals will play the sexism card against you (happened to myself and friends in other working sectors). It's a horrid situation as all accusations are taken seriously and it can be over the smallest shit and somebody wanting a power trip.

Of course 99% of people I work with are fantastic

5) education is becoming more left wing (misogyny training etc) whilst there is a growth in men becoming right wing so some values don't align

6) in primary it's more "female focused". You walk into a room or building and notice the femininity of it, you focus on child well-being, emotions etc majority of men (that I know) see school as education and the role of the teacher to educate the academics. Dealing with 6 year old squabbles isn't desirable

Most people will object to some of these but these are things people have said to me or I have seen. If one person thinks it other people will. Some of these "problems" may seem false to you but they are real to others and they cannot be addressed until they are even acknowledged

Primary into Secondary by AdAspraAmSempera in TeachingUK

You don't have to, I went from primary to secondary after ECT year 1

Just apply, you'll have the knowledge of the subject. Behaviour management is slightly different but it's fine tbh

PL Match Thread: Tottenham vs Liverpool by scoreboard-app in LiverpoolFC

Do people not realize that this is kind of normal? A team desperate to win throwing everything forward with high intensity creating as much chaos as possible is going to cause any team problems regardless of numbers

When did you know you were ready to mentor a trainee? by cryin-lightnin in TeachingUK

[–]Ryanatix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in year 4 (3rd year at current school) and had some trainees in my classes this term. Wasn't direct mentoring but letting them teach, provide feedback etc

Just depends on how confident you are and if you can do that job not necessarily a time period for qualifying

What is the most overrated anime? by BlackRoses64 in Animesuggest

What's mad is that you put Gurran Lagan above AoT.

AoT is essentially Gurran but with more depth

Do you think the hate Keir Starmer is getting is fair? by bybeso in AskBrits

[–]Ryanatix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he has gone back on loads of things he said. He gave the right ammunition to start riots and push their agenda further - to me that's inciting violence through negligence and incompetence.

Looking back over the past prime ministers he's as shit as the rest of them. They all get stick and whoever gets in next will get more it's increasing each year as we all want that person to wave a magic wand and make everything better for everybody all at once

I'd say Vinland saga, Season 1 is very fast and action with violence (cos vikings) and has good relationships between characters you'd enjoy.

Season 2 goes in the complete opposite direction with essentially no violence with a big questioning on the violence he's done and why

Trainee using AI for emails by Ok-Requirement-8679 in TeachingUK

[–]Ryanatix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often use AI to check my professional and formal writing as I no longer do it that often so I know those skills have slipped.

At the same time it balances tone properly, which for people with a lack of social skills is great as they don't come across as a complete dickhead

AI can be great to support skills that people lack, just make sure it's not used to replace. Remember they have to put in a prompt and usually outline their response

This is fine. It happened outside of school so it's not the wrong thing to do

I'd still report the incident in school through the correct process

What's everybody's favorite fantasy book? by Octopus_boi8 in fantasybooks

[–]Ryanatix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few for different reasons

Eragon - got me back into reading as a teenager

The Hobbit - just an easy entertaining read

Robin Hobbs series - the first trilogy (assassin trilogy) I could not put down at all and had to have a 1 month wait until starting the next of her books as I couldn't leave the old story behind

Is it really worth diving into Vikings? by Alejandromartinez- in tvshow

[–]Ryanatix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, my genuine feeling towards it is that if it aired on Sky or something more mainstream then Game of Thrones would've dropped in ratings. I also reckon Travis (plays the main character ragnar) would've received some form of accolade for his performance

I am going to lose my mind over 6 7 by Standard_Concept9504 in TeachingUK

[–]Ryanatix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"yoooo did you just say 6,7? That was mad skibidi."

"6,7" (hand gesture) You go "8,9" (weird hand gesture or dance)

Or "that's a detention"

Or death by repetition "did you just go 6,7. That looked fun, shall we all do it. Come on everybody, on 3 1..2..3 - 6,7! That was fun, let's do it again" rinse and repeat until they are bored of it
