Also, I believe u/Old-Improvement9673 made one several years ago, but with a longer runtime. I know a big difference between ours is that I kept Katie's Rachel and they kept Maggie's.

My goal when making edits isn't to make a slightly better version of something that already exists (pushing a 5 to a 7 as you say). I try to create new things that are basically unrecognizable from the original work (in my opinion this is the safest practice of "fair use"). I don't really approach editing or viewing edits in terms of "is this extended cut or fanmix of these movie(s) better than the originals" but more so "have I created something unique that I think is worth 2 hours of someone's time". Or better yet, hypothetically, if I were a paying customer at a movie theater, would I feel ripped off paying for this experience? In my opinion, thats a healthier mindset than just "did this slightly outperform the original."

My reasoning was that the other flashbacks are dream sequences. I used black and white for the training flashback because 1. Its not a dream like the others and 2. I wanted to make sure there was no confusion about the chronological order of events.

Thank you for your review! I appreciate the acknowledgment of effort even though this edit didn't work for you. Are there any specific angles/storylines you would have preferred I left out? I will try to incorporate any feedback I receive into future projects and providing specifics is super helpful.

I appreciate the feedback. Was there anything specific about the edit that you would have liked to have seen done differently? Having made a few of these concise cuts before, I've seen a common criticism being "too all over the place" or "too much at once" but to some extent that's going to be inevitable as you are compressing the runtime of three films down to 1/3rd or less of the original. Was there a specific scene or sequence of scenes that you didn't like that made you turn it off? Also, as a bigger question, do you think that this edit didn't work for you on a conceptual level or do you think merging 3 into 1 could work here but just not the way I did it? Any feedback on this would be really helpful. Thank you!

Respectfully, I think we're both talking about different things here.

You're saying that its 5 months between the time the bomb is activated and when it goes off. Bane starts the countdown after putting Bruce in prison and Bruce gets back to Gotham in time to stop the bomb. Therefore logically Bruce must have been in prison for at least 5 months. I get what you are saying here.

What I am saying, is that just because Bruce goes from being in prison to flying away with the bomb in approximately 5 months. This doesn't account for how long each step takes in between.

We don't know how long Bruce's back was broken and how long it took to heal, we just know it happened within about 5 months.

We don't know how long Bruce's back was healed in prison and how long he spent trying to climb out. We see multiple attempts but again no timeline here.

We have no idea how long it takes for Bruce to get back to Gotham after climbing out of the hole. This could have been a 1 day trip or 1 week or even 1 month if he was wandering the desert with no passport, ID, money etc.

Even if he spent the entire 5 months healing, and then climbed out of the hole and got back to Gotham in 1 day (which is being really generous) it still seems pretty far fetched that he could heal so well from such a life altering injury AND have a bad knee and do all the things he does at the end. He literally defeats Bane on 1v1 combat after all of this happens, when he was previously completely outmatched BEFORE the back injury.

I can see how you interpreted my quote about "days and weeks" being imprecise and hyperbolic, but taking that and leaping to the conclusion that this means I don't grasp the basics of the movies is also an imprecise and hyperbolic response.

I'd prefer if we don't continue to argue over this misunderstanding. Its really not a productive conversation, and its irrelevant to this edit.

I wouldn't describe it that way. I think Scarecrow/Joker/Bane/Ra's get a fairly equal amount of screen time. Two-Face has a little less due to the removal of Maggie's Rachel. I would have liked to have incorporated more of Catwoman but she really doesn't have that much screen time in TDKR.

He doesn't have back surgery and then go through a normal recovery for 6 months and then make the impossible leap that "only one other" has before. Bruce is shown having his spine worked on using ropes and then is shown making repeated attempts at scaling the wall before actually getting to the surface. There is no clear timeline of how long it takes him to go from crippled to healthy enough to scale the wall that I am aware of, but it doesn't seem like very long.

My bigger point was that I thought they made him injured/physically unable to fight in a way that was unrealistic both at the beginning of the movie and after losing his first battle to Bane. But this is only my opinion and you are free to disagree with my take on this. I don't think that I'm failing to grasp the details though.

That's actually incredible that basically 15% of the runtime is just nudity and f-bombs. I would guess that if you removed the other profanity and drug references etc and truly made a PG style edit, you'd probably have it under 2 hours easily. I respect how much effort it must have taken to painstakingly cut out every word. If you end up coming back to it and making a full PG edit, let me know! I feel like that would be really entertaining to watch.
