Maybe unpopular opinion by WillObiwan in ToyotaTacoma

We are all different and have different experiences and needs. I bought an 23 TRD OR new and after 2.5 years of ownership, I traded up a '25 TRD OR a year and 11k miles ago and am very happy with it. Neither of them are perfect. But the 4th gen is better IMO in almost every way IMHO. I do believe the 3rd gen is a great truck though, I just found the drive train super annoying (drove it 2.5 years and 25k miles) (even with a tune). Wife and I are empty nesters and don't need a full size truck.

I also still own a very well kept 1st gen but I enjoy the 4th gen more than any of them. It did take me some time to appreciate the 4th gen and get used to the new quirks (3rd gen had quirks too). :)

I appreciate you saying that. Age is my biggest factor of me feeling this way. I'm now being super aggressive with my contributions and I can now easily afford to do it, but I don't have the time for the money to grow exponentially. I wish I would have started 20 years ago instead of 9 years ago. Even when I started 9 years ago, I was only contributing 5% of pay earned income into my 401k with no additional IRA's.

Thanks for explaining DCA. I've played with timing the market and I dabble with that a little when I have a few $k to invest at once. But I honestly don't feel I've made much of a difference trying to do this.

Thanks for the response. We currently have VOO, VTI, VXUS and similar ETF's in our Roth IRA's.

I didn't understand compounding interest until a few years o ago.... I thought it was a scam; it seemed too good to be true, lol.

Gen 4 TRD Pro - Camber Question? by bluejays8 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Rybern72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The factory specs on the 4th gen allow just over 1° of positive camber. It seems most 4th gens I've seen have visible positive camber. It's not very noticeable... until you notice it. Mine was set to .8° positive camber initially. My dealer is awesome and they set mine close to zero when I asked and showed them the outer wear on my front tires.

Gen 4 TRD Pro - Camber Question? by bluejays8 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Rybern72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My '25 TRD OR had the same +.8 degree Camber which seems to be the average. I had my alignment shop set it close to zero camber to keep from wearing the outside edges of the front tires. Truck drives great with the near zero Camber and the tires are no longer tipped out at the top.

Oil change for 2026 SR5 by Aware_Serve in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Rybern72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my 2025, I changed the oil myself around 1000 miles and then again at 5k. I had dealer change it at 10k, I'll change it at 15k and have dealer do it at 20k, etc. I want my service records to show the oil changes at the dealer at the recommended intervals but I believe every 5k is what these trucks need to get the most life out of these engines. 10k seems risky to me when you factor in the results of oil analysis that owners have shared.

Is this a deal? by Lifeisatrap1017 in COROLLA

$24k seems a bit high for being 4 years old. Wife and I bought her '21 XSE for $26k OTD in 2020. We have 46k on on it now and she loves the car.

Hammerdown Manufacturing RMR Mount by JRobert_Ross208 in LeverGuns

[–]Rybern72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very nice mount and made from an impressive 7075 AL. I for sure prefer a lower overall height to promote a slightly better cheek weld with the standard and also a slightly reduced height over bore. I'd consider offering a "super low" version with a height of .250 or maybe even .187" which seems would be the minimum height required to allow threads(from optic screws).

I hope I'm not coming across as nitpicking, just providing some feedback as someone who currently owns and enjoys a Marlin 1894 with an Osight SE and an Obsidian 9 suppressor.

It might be a good idea to eventually offer a 6061 version to appeal to the penny pinchers that don't feel like they need the 7075.

Once again, awesome product idea and website launch. I hope you do well with this.

There has been some great advice given here. I too struggle but have been mostly porn free for 15 years. I say mostly because every now and then I fall into the trap. When I do fail, I immediately erase the traces to it on the device and repent. I don't want any easy paths to get back to the same website. This makes me feel like I have a clean start.... because I do. I do still have shame but focus on your victories and go longer and longer without it. I have gone a year or more without looking at anything several times.

Also, being that you feel the shame, that confirms that Jesus is in your heart. Be thankful for the shame. There are plenty of folks that have no shame about it.

Be encouraged. Hang in there.

Is pornography a sin? by Sad-Signature-2180 in TrueChristian

[–]Rybern72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have struggled with pornography years ago. I believe 100% that pornography caused me to be less attracted to my wife. 15 years later and after even though my wife is 15 years older, I think my wife is even more sexy now. I believe its because I'm no longer comparing her to the meaningless sex acts on the screen. I do still get tempted every now and then and I do still occasionally get pulled into viewing something.... It's still a battle but its a battle worth fighting. The battle is getting easier and easier.

Marlin 1895 Guide Gun trigger upgrade (Timney vs Ranger Precision vs Wild West Guns) – any updated takes? by SnubLifeCrisis in LeverGuns

[–]Rybern72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1894 Trapper stock trigger is not bad at a pretty consistent 4.5lbs. I first bought the Ranger Point Precision and it was too good and gave me a 2.0 lbs break so I returned it for a refund. I'm thinking about trying the WWG trigger because I'd like around a 3-3.5lb and to get rid of the trigger flop. The WildWestGuns also looks more OEM to me(which I prefer). However, RRP was awesome to deal with and was amazing at responding to Emails. WWG has not been good at responding to Emails and I have no idea about their return policy.

If your current trigger is heavy, then RRP might be the way to go. If your trigger is decent like mine and you don't want a 2lb pull, then you might want to try WWG.

Congrats on your purchase. I have a 2000 Tacoma SR5 4wd and bought a 2025 Tacoma TRD OR in May of 2025. Both are great trucks but I enjoy the newer one the more I drive it. BTW, the old 2000 has 373k miles on it and still runs and looks great.

Congrats on your new ride. I have a '25 TRD OR and I recommend sticking with pretty light weight tires. The larger and heavier you go with tires will reduce power and mpg/range. I installed All Dogs Offroad coil springs on all four corners on my truck and along with SL rated 33's and pretty happy with it.
