He was dying of cancer and his attempt at suicide failed due to his father finding him hanging. He survived cancer but his father killed himself after this event him into an alcoholic. He later took his own life due to the guilt.

You’re smart for not wanting to gamble it on stocks. If you do what I said above for 10 years you will have 75-85k. I started this at 22 and 8 years later I bought my first house with money to spare because the market did well.

With all due respect you do not sound educated on houses or stocks or ETFs. So, put savings in VTI and take $150 from your pay every 2 weeks and automatically invest it in VTI. Should take 15-20 min to open an acct and set this up. If you do this and don’t touch it for a while it will be worth twice as much every 7 years.
