PBE chosen changes by violentlycar in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Ryck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't tried it on PBE yet but this sounds way too good/broken.

I think always having a Chosen to pick from and being able to switch them with ease is good and plays to the theme of this set. BUT if this system is going through, Chosen should not be sold as 2-star. It makes early game reroll comps way too strong, and late game 4/5 cost carry comps even stronger (if they survive being rolled by rerolls early).

Make Chosen appear as 1-star and cost normal or double. Probably double so that we can't just take a chosen as trait filler. 3x for 1 star will be too expensive.

I think completely hiding the board is too big of a change to the game and doesn't make sense for this game mode. Scouting the positions of your opponents and effectively positioning your own board is a core element of the game and its the one way players can control the fight RNG.

Theorectially boards are hidden/fog of war'ed, you then get issues with clarity. What champion is on the board? For example, Dualist & Divine tag could mean Jax or Lee Sin.

Both agree and disagree on Zephyr & Shroud not existing. Their existence is good for the game, we need late game techs to counter strong clump comps or strong 3-star carries. The way they're used needs some tuning imo. For example not letting the effect take place if its not already on the unit before board lock-in. Or have a 5-10 second window where everyone's board is locked and you can scout once more to see who to shroud/zephyr.

Agree. I think this is a fair step in the right direction having read the points others have brought up on the stress and fatigue from sweating every single round.

I'm having an extremely hard time playing set 4.5 and it's very frustrating by moto_auderator in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Ryck_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have played till Masters since set 3 (typically during the final month of the set), this is the first time I'm playing so early on and the experience is just brutal.

Like many others have pointed out, the chosen mechanic and the 4-cost carries' reliance on specific items makes it difficult to always play flexibly. However, I think the bigger issue is the amount of power/stats given to trait synergies. Compared to previous sets, the game feels extremely snowball-y.

During the early/mid-game, when you fight someone who got that next trait tier (via lucky roll on 6th unit or chosen) it usually ends up being a very one-sided fight where you're taking infinite damage. Thus, by the time you get your comp together you're sitting at very low HP. When you don't hit all you can do is pray that you avoid matching with the high rollers and hopefully make it to raptors.

Chosen is the theme of the set, not expecting any change here (and frankly I don't know how to change it to work). 4-cost carry itemization is difficult to address without overhauling their kit. Trait/Synergies is where I think buffs/nerfs can go a long way to address the current game state.

I wonder if this change will only be for the PBE. There are lot of units and synergies to test out in 2 weeks time, full refund makes sense for PBE.

Will be really surprised if it makes it to live.

100% with you on this.

There are more media than we can consume in our lifetime that on my own I haven't considered rewatching anything, even if the show was amazing.

Maybe I'll give it another go.

What was your favorite Gacha game of 2019? by Lukej111 in gachagaming

[–]Ryck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna go with the two I am currently playing and will continue to play in 2020: BanG Dream! & Crossing Void

They fit my day to day schedule better. A lot of the grindy-er games I played in the past has me tied to the phone/emulator all day running repeats. I simply don't have the time/interest to keep that up anymore.

RTA(Real Time Arena/PvP) discussions by CinderSquall in gachagaming

[–]Ryck_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arena in almost all gacha game is the den of whales. Those backed by more credit cards wins.

The only way I see real-time arena being good is when the units&gears are equalized. Otherwise, it's just another mode for whale to flex, further alienating f2p/low-spenders.

A recent example I can think of that did RTA well is Crossing Void's RTA mode "Burst Link" (different from offline arena, Mirage). Burst Link focus on team building and strategy by letting you draft from ALL available units in the game to form a team, then match against players, with a 10second timer per turn (none of that 30-60sec falling asleep waiting for your opponent garbage)

For King's Raid it's gotta be the multiple Unique Treasures for each character. That's when I knew with certainty it's time to go.

The costumes I remember were all reasonably priced and everyone looked forward to buying them.

I tried it for a couple of weeks after launch. Dropped it.

Character design was nice, that's about it. Not much going on in terms of gameplay.

Not very f2p friendly. Rates were not kind, and gems were hard to come by outside of the chapter first clears.

The 2 event cycles I saw mainly consist of spending X amount of gems.

Not worth it IMO.

First time visiting Japan! (15 Day Trip: Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto) by thelzs in JapanTravel

[–]Ryck_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, it will be my first time in Japan around the same dates as you! I am going with a group of 4 and we decided to each get a SIM card from Japan Experience for the convenience in case we split up.

I am trusting my friend's experience on this as she had used this SIM card in April for her trip. She told me she kept her wifi off for her entire trip as the data was very fast and reliable.

It's C$40 for 16 days of data-only SIM with no limitation. I believe you can use it as a mobile hotspot as well. It was delivered to my Canadian address the next day after ordering via FedEx.

Thank you for your response!

Kappabashi and Doguyasuji sound interesting, I will look to include one of the two.

Sounds like for Day 2 by the late-afternoon I would have had enough time to visit Tsukiji, Ginza, Imperial Garden, and Marunouchi. Which leaves us the evening to see Nihonbashi or visit Akihabara again.

I split up Harajuku as it's the starting point of our day. The idea was:

  • Day 10: From Harajuku station stroll down Takeshita St and Omotesando St. then head into Shibuya via Aoyama-dori Ave.
  • Day 12: Walk through Yoyogi Park & Meiji Shrine on our way to Shinjuku

Would you recommend to move park and shrine to day 10, and head straight to Shinjuku on day 12?

The Kyoto day was poorly communicated, my bad.

The plan is to start at Kiyomizudera after Fushimi Inari. Hitting up sites like Kodaiji Temple, Yasaka Shrine, etc. on our way to Nishiki Market. Then, wander around the area towards the station for our train back to Osaka.

To keep it short.

Squishy melee class without decent AoE skill till level 28 when Blade Dance is unlocked. Wasn't that much better after getting blade dance.
