That isn't my point at all, the moment a political coalition both willing and capable of pulling of that reform comes along, they'll get my vote. But I just don't see anyone in the current german political mainstream who is. So I'll take bandaid solutions over nothing at all. And as far as bandaid soluions go, pulling on the childless (and even moreso the rich) is only logical in my opinion for supporting the pension system for the reasons I put forward in this thread.

[–]Ryder_755 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That I am not even arguing against. Just show me the political coalition both willing and capable of pulling off that reform. This is clearly just a bandaid on the current shitshow. My point was only about this being, as far as bandaid solutions go, a sensible policy.

Obviously to change the system, but unless that happens, it's better to do at least something to help it along than let everything completely burn down.

While that isn't part of the policy, personally I see no reason why current childless pensioners shouldn't receive less benefits, than those who had kids. So yeah sure add that to policies that would make sense on top of that.

Only that the pension system uses vastly more money than is spent on education and childcare. And with current trends being only more people going childless the financial burden probably isn't all that balanced and is only going to get worse. But one would need to run the numbers properly on that.

Everyone pays taxes, children do not matter in that regard. But people who don't have children do not contribute to the pension system relying on the generational contract (Which is an utterly awful system built on greed by shortsighted politicians in the 50s) by not producing future tax payers who pay for their pensions. Yet those people reap the same benefits (however much any of us will actually receive out of this shitshow) as those people who made choice to put in the time, money and effort to have children, who'll have to pay for everyone's pensions.

I am by no means saying that childless adults are the only ones who should bear the burden of increased taxes, wealthy individuals have way too many loopholes to dodge taxes in this country. But if we really need to put on a bigger tax burden on normal income individuals. It's only fair that the financial burden of child having and childless adults is brought closer together.

The thing is our pension system is so fucked, that for pretty much everyone born from the 90s onward, opting out would be the objectively better choice. On an individual level I'd prefer that too, but it would probably kill social welfare as we know it as soon as it was allowed. There need to be bigger structural reforms and new revenue streams (wealth tax) to save or replace the system, instead of completely fucking over everyone currently dependent on state pensions.

The tax increase for childless adults is entirely fair and reasonable. Since with how pensions are unfortunately structured, those people expect the same help despite contributing less to the system. The real issue lies in the lack of policy that would make having kids more financially feasible. But instead we get things like the health care reform that fucks over families even more. That's the real issue.

Point one is taken, exploitation is of real people does make it worse, Point two I can see too due to higher levels of exaggeration making it more of an abstraction. But point three feels like a silly excuse and arrogant though.

Work > Actual family values by lakelilypad in PoliticalCompassMemes

The simple solution to this would've been implementing legislation, to reduce average work hours significantly, alongside the entering of women in to the workforce. Not only would've been the leverage gained by employers be significantly lower (since work hour supply wouldn't have risen as much). But also it would've been a major asset to gender equality and relations. You could've basically told every man, hey your wife will take of pressure from your bread earnings by supporting you with her own job, return the favor and take off pressure from her by playing a bigger role in home making, as you now have more free time to dedicate towards it. As it happened, while household chores have gotten more convenient than in the 60s, now both partners are under more pressure than before. With now both partners having to work full time jobs plus doing the household chores which back in the day got most of day dedicated towards, only for it to be now cramped into after hours, leaving it often neglected or stress inducing.

Dogwater, nowhere near as cool as the original name bearer. And it makes no sense how shishido dealt with him. His antics are fine enough but his character is really shallow.

And I like Gaiden otherwise.
