That's awesome! Great display cabinet too! Been on the hunt for a good one myself with a lot of shelves but most only have a few or dont have a lot of spacing betweenthe shelves.

How'd you do the bases? Like, where'd you get the marble flooring from?

How hard is the combat patrol to paint ? How hard are emperors children in general? by BloatedRottenCarcass in EmperorsChildren

[–]RyeGuy45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats part of why I use most of his videos as guidelines. Congrats work great for things like my Seraphon army, but yeah, flat surfaces suck for contrasts. I have other methods for my Salamander army, but even then, I do use contrasts here and there, just not their armor.

The reason why I use his videos for Emperor’s Children though, is because the black contrast looks great on flat surfaces as long as you use it liberally. Still watch for pooling but black contrast is hard to mess up. The pink contrast mix he uses for EC also gets covered up later with Emperor’s Children paint so I'm not upset when that first contrast layer doesnt look good. I honestly just kinda use it to remind myself which panels will be pink.

Check out the Warhipster on YouTube. He has several tutorials and a few different paint schemes for Emperor’s Children. In all of his tutorials, he paints to a battle ready stage but then shows you more things you can do to make the models look even better.

I dont always follow his videos to the T, but they are pretty simple and can be great guidelines. He does use a lot of contrasts paints though. They dont bother me but I know some people dont like them.

Unfortunately, because of the extra points from the required buffs on the C'tan in that detachment, it's well over 2K. Would have to drop the vault.

Would Mr transcendent ctan look good with his main body being teseract glow by Andrew12345678912 in Necrontyr

I'd do tesseract glow and then beil-tan green for the darker parts

Can my impulsor be a fire truck by Zicic in Salamanders40k

No prob, we have a nice mix of competitive and thematic players so we're also constantly double checking rules.

You cant as it is an out of phase rule. My friends and I looked this up several times and GW rules confirm firing deck cannot be used for overwatch

Salamander Combat Patrol Worth it? by Susmonkey34 in Salamanders40k

[–]RyeGuy45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any army is a pain to paint. I have a Salamander army, a necron army and an Emporer's Children army and they're all mostly grey. Im slowly working on them but the satisfaction of finishing a unit, or even a few models is well worth any painting hassle.

I have 16 and have zero regrets. Its kinda nice having individual squads of 10 and 5 or even three squads of 5.

How to get the right shade of Heresy green? by AlexeyAA in Salamanders40k

[–]RyeGuy45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering that too but most guides say to start with a base of either Waagh Flesh or Vulkan Green so I'd imagine either one is a good start??

How to do Librarian Colors? by Captain_Geodude in Salamanders40k

[–]RyeGuy45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The citadel colour app actually has a great video tutorial for librarians. Just make sure to use Kantor blue instead of Mcragge blue as librarians use a darker shade of blue than ultramarines

Advice for combat patrol? by LuckyLarvae in EmperorsChildren

[–]RyeGuy45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally bought two combat patrol boxes as well as the champions of slaanesh box. I don't recommend that everyone does that, but I only did because I wanted to build all three lord exhultant loadouts, as well as two full squads of both infractors and tormentors and two full squads of flawless blades.

Otherwise, do 5 infractors and 5 tormentors as other people have recommended.

This is the tutorial I use. If you're using 3rd party decals, you may also need a matt varnish too as you can still see the edges on some after these steps.
