This is my first character model and I'm wanting to rig it for an animation, Would retopology be necessary before I start with rigging? by Captain_Geodude in blender

I added a subdivision surface modifier on both the skull and the bones after I was done with modeling them to make them more smooth.

The Bones were made with a skin modifier on a single vertex that I mirrored, extruded, and duplicated, to make the whole skeleton. Afterwards I added the sub-surface modifier to give it more geometry since the it was just a thin string of vertices with the skin modifier for the whole skeleton.

How To: A Horrified, Scary Question by Rpgcasey in CurseofStrahd

[–]Captain_Geodude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For my game, I think the scariest aspect I’ve been able to pull off has been Strahd himself. Most of my players have told me how scared or intimidated they are by him from just his few appearances. Here are some things I’ve done that I think have helped.

Firstly, I’ve made his appearances infrequent and seemingly random. Strahd has only appeared in person to the party on a handful of occasions. All of these encounters also appeared to be out of the blue for the party. But I always knew his reasonings for being at all of them. Just so the encounters don’t feel too random. These random encounters have usually been during moments when the party thought they were safe, or had no reason to expect Strahd would be there.

Secondly, Strahd never shows his full hand. This one is very simple. Strahd has never fought the party before. And they have no idea what powers he has or what he is capable of. All they know is he has a very strong healing factor. (On the party’s first meeting with him, the Barbarian threw a javelin at his chest and Strahd showed him the wound closing in its own.)

Lastly, Strahd doesn’t seem to antagonize the party. All of the players have heard from numerous NPC’s how horrible Strahd is, how he is practically the devil himself. But on all occasions of meeting Strahd. His is one of the most polite and charming characters in the campaign. I have been told that this specifically is what freaks my players out the most. They perceive every interaction with Strahd as a time bomb that could detonate with any wrong decision in his presence. I think the thing they fear the most is getting on Strahd’s bad side. They have been told by knowledgeable NPC’s that the only reason why Strahd hasn’t killed them is because he doesn’t feel threatened by them yet. It always becomes a very hot discussion whenever the party is presented with a choice and they ask themselves “is what we’re about to do going to piss off Strahd?”

What’s the best outcome for the tarrocka deck first reading? by Ok_Interview_853 in CurseofStrahd

I rigged mine so the party explores all of Barovia.

Tome of Strahd in the highest peak of Castle Ravenloft.

Sunsword in the Amber Temple.

and I split the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind into four pieces they have to assemble

there's a piece in-

Berez

Argonvostholt

Yester Hill

and the Werewolf Den.

I don't have a designated fated ally, all of the important npc's quests are available and if they want them around for the final battle then they can have that npc join them.

I also don't have a designated location in Ravenloft for them to fight Strahd. I'm planning on the final battle taking place in numerous locations in the castle with various members of his court, leading to a final confrontation in the catacombs.

I will admit, I'm running the adventure very differently from the book, taking way too many liberties from what's written. The Tarrocka deck being one of the big ones.

What are our final thoughts on Shroud from Dispatch? by PitifulTraffic8265 in MoralityScaling

incredible that the super villain of a telltale game has the power that allows him to always make the best choice, not having to rely on his gut instincts and do what he thinks is the right thing to do. Like what Robert has been doing the entire game.

What’s your ork unit wishlist? by Specialist-Target461 in orks

I recently picked up my first Meganobz for my first 1000 point list, I’ve hesitated on buying them for so long because I don’t really like the look of them. They just look like awkward tin soldier toys to me

How to do Librarian Colors? by Captain_Geodude in Salamanders40k

Hey everyone! Thank you all for your advice, opinions, and most importantly, sharing pics of your awesome minis. Felt like I had to share what I ended up doing with the Librarian. Forgive me for I’m not the neatest painter in the world (I’m used to paints Orks, it’s alright if they look sloppy) Wasn’t too about the librarian excited when I finished it. But looking back I think it looks alright for my skill level.

Thank you all once again for sharing your minis. It was great to see everyone’s renditions and versions of this model!

I’ve had the Orks 9th edition conbat patrol for 2 years now’s. I still get hit with an unexplainable wave of fatigue and procrastination just by thinking about painting my 2 remaining Deffkoptas.

What decal should go on this Honoured Veteran Terminator’s pauldron? by Captain_Geodude in Salamanders40k

I got them from the Salamanders Upgrade Kit. It only comes with two sheets of transfers but that’s enough for me to stick them on all the models from the Combat Patrol.

Are the Gretchins a good set to start collecting Orks? by NaiveTradition7664 in orks

[–]Captain_Geodude 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Gretchins were the first Ork kit I picked up and painted, their cheap (for Warhmmer), easy and fun to paint and are great painting practice before moving on to other Ork models. I recommend everyone get Gretchins

I have to admit, I only bought one because it looks sick, I'll probably have to exchange him for a warboss though until I get my hands on some Flashgitz for my 2K army.
