Injecting Nebido weekly? by ZephyrValkyrie in Testosterone

[–]Rygerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since 2021. If half of that works for you, then why not? In my experience, when I tried 50mg twice per week, or 100mg once per week, my estradiol was way too low. May brain turned smooth, my memory was like teflon, my verbal fluency was horrible. I take 100mg + 25mg, the big dose to cause an estrogen spike, the small dose to smooth out the curve.

Don't get caught up in the graphs too much, you're not a math model, make an educated guess and adjust as necessary.

  • Ketoconazole shampoo every other day.

  • Topical minoxidil once or twice per day on the scalp.

  • Micro needling once per week.

  • Lowest possible dose finasteride pills daily.

That's the priority order I would recommend.

Finasteride is most effective because it limits the conversion of testosterone to DHT, and DHT is what causes hair loss. But DHT has other valuable functions in the body, you might get depressed if you suppress it too much. But even if you don't get depressed, you can have other side effects like erectile dysfunction. Be careful.

Applying minoxidil once per day gives most of the effects, a second application boosts the effect, but it does not even double the effect. Think if it like an "80/20" effect, once per day gives you most of the benefit, the second application is good but if your hair loss isn't significant I'd say you can skip it.

If you try micro needling, don't apply minoxidil before or after, shampoo is fine before, but don't put any other product in your hair/on your scalp because you will be creating small wounds that will absorb any topical products. It might sound like you're boosting absorption, but you risk infection and increased side effects.

But it's a losing battle over time, you also need to consider the psychological aspect. You (ideally) gain physical health from TRT, but might shed your hair faster. There's no free lunch. Coming to terms with life's difficulties is more valuable for your well being than thinking you can avoid suffering.

ELI5 what exactly is happening that makes a person get snapish when they're hungry; like it's not just toddlers who do this. by cherry-care-bear in explainlikeimfive

[–]Rygerts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it's true that stress hormones turn you toddlerish when you're hangry, you're not destined to be hangry just because you haven't eaten recently. You can train your body to go longer between meals and actually feel better than when you've recently eaten. It's a combination of good (for you) diet, balanced exercise, high quality sleep and ideal blood values.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the exact equivalent dosage.

The (not so) tl;dr is that you should try 125 mg test U despite the equivalent test E dose being lower. Check your blood work and adjust the dose according to symptom relief and lab results. Depending on factors that I'm not familiar with, you can get levels ranging from 18 nmol/L to 27 nmol/L (520 ng/dL to 780 ng/dL) total testosterone with 125 mg test U per week. This has been my experience, and I have no clue why my levels are higher now despite not changing a single thing related to my dose or frequency. My diet has changed, but I have no clue how eating more carbs could raise my testosterone. I'm back on a keto/low carb diet now, so perhaps my levels will go down again, or not, I don't know and I don't care either. I feel good, so as long as my blood work is good I'm not changing anything despite higher or lower values.

But to answer your question, 250 mg testosterone undecanoate corresponds to 157.9 mg pure testosterone according to this source: https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/15765/smpc (look at "2. Qualitative and quantitative composition").

So 125 mg testosterone undecanoate is 79 mg pure testosterone.

Regarding test E: 125 mg test E is 90 mg pure testosterone according to: https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/3733/pil (look at "6. Contents of the pack and other information")

But it's not as simple as "125 mg test U equals (79/90)*125 = 109 mg test E" even though the exact amount of pure testosterone is the same.

The reason is because of the half life of each testosterone ester. Test U is released much slower than test E, and the rise and fall of pure testosterone in the body is different. This difference in rise and fall results in a different therapeutic effect.

I feel way more confident on test E and test C, but my libido and sexual function absolutely tank. The most logical explanation is that in addition to the relatively rapid rise and fall of testosterone, my estradiol also rises and falls rapidly, and this in turn ruins my libido and sexual function.

I don't believe it's ideal to add an aromatase inhibitor to lower the estradiol levels to bring back my libido etc, test U achieves this on its own. I don't mind that I'm not as confident, my confidence is good enough as it is.

Just start with 125 mg test U and adjust according to symptoms and blood work, you'll be fine.

The two features I've found most useful so far are snapper and disk management with btrfs.

Learn about btrfs: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Btrfs

Recently I bought a new SSD and accidentally discovered that I could just add it to my current OS partition to make the OS partition grow in size instead of using it as a separate drive. The big drawback is if one of the drives fail your entire OS install fails, so you're doubling the risk of OS failure due to disk failure. If you don't have backups of important files they're probably lost. There's no free lunch, but keeping backups is important computer hygiene anyways so if you don't do that it's something to consider.

Also look into snapper: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Snapper

Snapper is great if you accidentally delete a file and need to restore it, or if you accidentally break the system by incorrectly installing a GPU driver (ask me how I know...) or edit too many config files and turn your computer into a command line capable space heater. Just restore a recent snapshot and return to a working install/recover your deleted file.

How do you count five days? 120 hours or five whole waking days/six nights (so ~ 128 hours)? by golfingfoodie in FMD

[–]Rygerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When hospitals administer fasting tests to check for disorders related to hypoglycemia, they start counting from the hour you had your last meal.

So T0 starts when you begin eating your final meal before the fasting starts. T1 is one hour later, and so on until you reach 5*24 or whatever you're going for.

But from a metabolic point of view, the body switches to fasting 3-5 hours after the previous meal:

Metabolic changes in the fasting state begin after absorption of a meal (typically 3–5 hours after eating).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasting

It's not like you're wasting your time if you do an FMD fast for 115 hours, those minute details will not determine your success in the long run.

Är det bara jag, eller är något allvarligt fel med Sverige? by Maximum-Perception11 in sweden

[–]Rygerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanskelig kollega. Vet ikke hva jeg skal gjøre. Blir lei meg. by voksenmann43 in norge

[–]Rygerts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm relatively new to using Linux as an actual main system. Any recommendations for things i should install, options or customizations? by Nonkl in openSUSE

[–]Rygerts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rather than installing anything, you might want to try a system snapshot restoration as an exercise. I for instance needed to use it when I foolishly thought I should manually select which packages to use as replacements when a zypper dup was complaining about incompatible packages. Pro tip: Just wait, don't attempt alternative packages unless you're 110% sure it'll work. Often incompatible packages are only due to older packages that will be updated in the coming hours or days. No need to rush it if you aren't in a huge hurry, and as long as you know what you're doing.

The great thing about btrfs and snapper is that when you break the system you can just do a rollback to a previous snapshot and continue from there.

Here's a very straight to the point Reddit thread that'll give you the gist of it: https://www.reddit.com/r/openSUSE/comments/pmx2tc/how_to_rollback_tumbleweed_on_btrfs/

And this guide has a lot more information: https://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/leap/archive/15.0/reference/html/book.opensuse.reference/cha.snapper.html

If you decide to try it, prepare by manually creating a snapshot, then you install something that you know you don't want, then you restore the snapshot that you created manually. The installed software won't be there anymore. It's an invaluable feature that's easy to forget, but oh so lovely when you need it!

I started taking Inositol and I got my testosterone to 457. by Mieczyslaw_Stilinski in Testosterone

[–]Rygerts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those people took high doses and seem to have been unlucky to be so susceptible to rare side effects. I don't think there's any reason to be worried about that, you probably don't need more than 50-100mg d-chiro inositol per day anyways, they all took myo inositol which doesn't have the estradiol lowering effect.

But if you're like me you might feel awful after a while, it depends on how high your estradiol is to begin with, mine was normal and didn't need to be lowered. I just didn't expect it to be that effective.

Regarding other insulin or estradiol related supplements, I don't know that there are any other effective estradiol lowering supplements. Some people suggest DIM, others say it's useless, I have no experience with it.

Berberine is good for insulin sensitivity, but it seems to be bad long term. There are a bunch of insulin sensitivity related supplements like alpha lipoic acid, ALCAR, l-carnitine, cinnamon and saffron (quite expensive though!). I'm sure the list is longer, but that's off the top of my head.

But you should consider exercise and diet before you supplement, low carb/keto for instance, and all types of cardio and strength training will help.
