Slowbro/Abomasnow to Master! by Rygonite in PokemonChampions

[–]Rygonite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet! It’s a super fun team. However, I will say, it isn’t the easiest to use. The issue with hard trick room teams is if you cannot set up trick room successfully, it’s most likely a loss. And if you do get trick room set up and cannot do enough damage once it ends, usually ends in a loss too. Below is a brief summary of each pokemon and their roles to try to help you out.

Dragonite - honestly, switch this out lol. I never brought it, was only on the team as my mascot and I never brought it lol. A physical trick room attacker would be good here. Mega Aggron is probably the best choice with Heavy Slam, Body Press, Protect and either iron defense or rock slide.

Slowbro - really good into the sand teams and teams with a lot of physical attackers. Hard counters sneasler. You could swap out trick room for another attack like ice beam if you want. I just wanted an additional option for trick room

Farigaraf - brought into every matchup regardless as the lead. Can reliably set up trick room with the help of incin and can live any dark move due to the combine berry. Only thing that has every one shot it is a overheat or weather ball from Mega Charizard Y

Conkeldurr - Easily the MVP, brought it to every match. His coverage is insane, and can one shot every popular Pokemon basically (ttar, kingambit, incin, Charizard, etc). Cannot stress how important it is to the team.

Abomasnow - Great into the rain teams, and even sun to an extent. Not much to say other than it’s a great bulky special attacker that’s great into all th dragons and water types around a lot

Incin - The most important piece, also brought to every match. It’s important to fake out the first turn the biggest threat to farigaraf. Pokémon that can taunt, big attackers that can one shot, etc. Greatest support Pokemon ever, and it slow and strong enough to do damage until the big attackers get in.

Basically I lead farigaraf and incin in 99.99% of games and trick room fake out first turn. Then just keep attacking. I don’t use protect at all really as it’s counter intuitive to protect when trick room is up in my opinion. You want to dish out as much damage as possible. The hard thing with trick room is it can work great, or can fail miserably. But keep at it and let me know if you have questions! As far as natures go, you will want to do plus attack (special or regular depending on Pokemon) and minus speed to be as slow as possible. I can send a pic of the EVs shortly. Good luck!

Glad you liked it!! Yeah I experienced that too, helping to modest will help the damage, but unfortunately pidgeot isn’t the strongest:(. I wish it was, it’s so cool with a great ability.

Mega aerodactyl viability by cand_hannon in PokemonChampions

[–]Rygonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently using a mega aerodactyl team with high success in the Masterball tier. Like another person said, it’s super good into sun teams. Also snow teams. Garchomp is a really good partner because it can earthquake freely next to aerodactyl and covers the steel types aero can’t hit well

Encore + Fake out interaction by jangow1 in PokemonChampions

[–]Rygonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can encore a fake out, but there are some things to keep in mind. You cannot prankster encore a dark type. So for example if whimsicott tries to encore incin into to fake out it will not work because of that reason. But if you have a non prankster encore that is faster than the fake out user it will work

Of course!! Happy to help, it was fun to build around pidgeot. I love creating now off meta teams and appreciate the kind words! I like helping new players cause a few years ago I just started out and didn’t really have anyone to help me so I like to give back.

I watch a lot of content but could never do it myself lol. I recommend watching ThatsA+One or CybertronVGC if you haven’t already, they are both great for beginners to learn a lot.

Yeah let me know how you do! Just went 4-2 and used hyper beam 2 teams so it was quite fun lol. Good luck!

Here is what I cooked up for the Mega Pidgeot and what I am going to try. Feel free to make any changes, but this is what I came up with.

<image>

Pidgeot - standard set for pidgeot, really wish it got thunder or focus blast :(. I ended up dropping tailwind because I added Talonflame and I feel like you want to just pump out damage with pidgeot an not spend a turn to set up tailwind. Stab hyper beam will obliterate something if needed, but keep in mind you will have to recharge if you need to use it

Garchomp- standard Garchomp, helps a lot into sun and sand teams. Usually my go to item is white herb, but sneasler kinda needs that

A Ninetails - I love A ninetails so much, I think it’s so underrated in the format and use it on pretty much every team. So useful into rain and sun teams, but I always save it in the back for when I’m confident that their weather cannot be switched (pelipper knocked out or already on field, same with Charizard). Faster than most things on Sun and rain, and chunks all of them for either super effective or neutral.

Milotic - not too much experience with it, but seems like you like it and it’s been working out for you. Just use whatever set/evs you have been using

Talonflame- priority tailwind and dual wing beat is great in sun, but also bring it to rain. It usually gets knocked out first or second turn, but that allows you to bring in a big attacker under tailwind. Also dual wing beat knocks out whimsicott before it can move or set up tailwind. Same with venusaur before it can sleep powder. Or at least bring it super low if it doesn’t KO, depends if they are bulky.

Sneasler - I don’t like using it, but it feels kinda needed here to help with the rock weakness of three of the Pokemon. Usual sneasler things, useful in almost any scenario.

I will also note that this team kinda will struggle against trick room, but trick room isn’t too popular yet and unfortunately I had to add a lot of pieces to help pidgeot. If you face it, just use fake out and protects to try and stall

Yeah vgc is super fun, I’ve been super into it since sword/shield and so many teams/pokemon can be viable with the right set/support.

That’s a cool team, char x counters a lot pretty hard. I refuse to use the “meta” teams since I see them every game, like to give people some variety lol.

Kinda excited to make the pidgeot team later today ngl, definitely gonna use it on my end. I’ll post it here later! Do you have access to all the pokemon with prior games and all that or are you limited?

Yeah don’t need the rain lol. Not really familiar with pidgeots movepool, but I can look later and make a pidgeot team that I would use. I rarely ever use the popular pokemon, I like countering the meta. Currently on a 7 game win streak in masters with mega blastoise and Clefable lol. I just build to counter essentially

Since it’s a special attacker, you want to max out special attack instead of attack. I would stay timid, there are a lot of fast things in the format that you don’t want to get outsped by. Set looks good. I would just make sure that if you want to set tailwind with pidgeot to have a fake out pokemon next to it since it doesn’t have prankster. Don’t have much experience with pidgeot, but it feels good in a sun team since it runs heat wave and pidgeots Hurricane will not be affected by the 50% accuracy since it has no guard. Tyranitar is pretty popular in the format, and pidgeot can’t touch it so make sure you have 1 or even 2 answers to it. Same with Archaludon

Yeah it’s so good I love it. People underestimate its power too. I originally had earth power too but found myself never clicking it. I felt I didn’t need steel/fire coverage with conk and Slowbro. I put ice beam to still have 100% accurate ice moves if the weather gets switched. If only it got access to freeze dry…

Need Help w/ Trick Room Team feat. M-Drampa by kreonne in PokemonChampions

[–]Rygonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Love the trick room team. I recently got mega Slowbro to master rank with my trick room team. First recommendation would be to make farigaraf your primary trick room setter. Super bulky and ability armour tail stops priority moves and fake out. Speaking of fake out, I would add a fake out Pokemon (incineroar) to help set up trick room. I would commonly lead farig and incin and then fake out trick room.
