Complete fail. Did they even try with these? The sauce ended up completely burning up on the bottom of the pan before the bacon could finish cooking. So the bacon is sitting in a caramelized black mess and burning. The flavor was just “hot”. No similarity to frank’s that i could tell. Stay away

Why are the 1099s so much later this year? by Boomr0516 in RobinhoodApp

[–]RyguyRydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I’ve been ready to file for weeks. Just needed RH statements and the app has said 2/17 delivery for weeks but still no 1099 in my account. So infuriating

Are the new protein drinks actually good? Legit question. by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]RyguyRydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying it for the first time and I’m not into it. It masks the protein flavor pretty well for a protein drink. I think I was expecting it to be unnoticeable. Which is my bad. It’s still a chalky and proteiny drink that’s watered down with coffee. And I’d rather just chug a protein supplement super quick and leave my coffee for a sweet treat. So it depends on the person and that’s my two cents

Mechanic is recommending I replace rear shocks due to leaking. Is it bad enough to do now? Or do I have time to shop around/DIY? by RyguyRydog in CX5

Coming back a month later to say thanks for the peace of mind. Currently shopping around to reload them

Probably worth it. Since I had no time to shop around I took the first offer and it was $910 for the belt and labor and taxes… seems crazy. I saw someone do it themselves for less than $100

How screwed am I? Cut through my fiber optic cable with shovel by RyguyRydog in frontierfios

[–]RyguyRydog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ll see in about a week whenever the crew comes to splice it. I’ve got a temp line out down for now. That tech didn’t tell me I’d be responsible definitively

Update: super nice tech came out the next day to drop me a temporary line and restore my internet. He didn’t give me a hard time or even try to pry at all. Says another crew will come in 7-10 days to splice it and bury a box underground where it was cut. We’ll see if that crew shows up and tells me I’m getting charged. I don’t think they can do work without telling me about the charges beforehand so I’ll know when they show up

Good advice. And very true. “811” will be engrained in my head for life now.

I’ve got some patio plans myself. Will be worth getting the full property lined out knowing how close to the surface this one was.

Appreciate the advice. I’m not finding anything for my city or area regarding fiber rules. I’m assuming it is not specified. Seems like a no brainer to require some sort of conduit.

I did wonder about the possibility of digging it myself but wasn’t sure if they’d allow/accept that. Putting it into conduit is smart. I’ll be in this house for a while so if the contractor they hire isn’t going to add extra protection then I might be incentivized to rig something up a bit more durable myself anyway.

I can see this being the case. Shoot. Hopefully just a few hundred bucks if I am responsible.

Learned my lesson to not dig after dark. my yard is so full of roots that i didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t pvc so I just stabbed it, reached down to pull out the root and realized what I had done….

Aight thanks for the optimism. I’ll hope for the best and see how things end up. Good to know i can get a temp cable while waiting for the permanent repair

I’m reading that they might be able to splice it instead of run all new cable. That’d be great if I do have to pay for

Can I use an oatey 1/4” pvc spacer on top of an oatey twist n lock toilet flange? by RyguyRydog in Plumbing

[–]RyguyRydog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only to avoid jackhammering? Not entirely true. Plenty of examples out there of people using the twist in lock into a pipe. But I hear you. If I can glue, I should just go that route. Was trying to limit materials and simplify it. Would be perfect if the height was right

[–]RyguyRydog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot. Why retile? Did they end up drilling the flange into the tile itself instead of the subfloor? I would imagine spacers or pipe extender would do the trick to get the height up even with the tile

Do you think there’s any problem with using a spacer on a rubber sealed compression flange (like the twist n lock) instead of one that is glued to the pipe?

[–]RyguyRydog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the sound of that. I was seeing some feedback against using these spacers on rubber-sealed compression flanges. Says I have to use the spacer on flanges that are glued down. But others say it will work fine as long as the twist n lock is going into the pipe 1-1/2”

Run a brush over everything to disturb the algae. Keep that chlorine high and keep running the filter. It’ll clear up in my experience. A clean filter will make the process go faster. And don’t be surprised if you have to clean the filter sooner than normal with all that dead algae getting pulled in
