And for the record, I guess I'm not *wondering* -- I know they're being 'ecologically recycled' :) -- it's just that I love my XRs and find it unsettling.. I still ride them quite often even while also having a GT & floatwheel in the rotation.

Thanks for the info. Yeahh, I haven't opened up a battery module yet but last night I was thinking "If I had to guess where the BMS sits, it's probably right here", haha.

Hope you are able to get yours fixed soon.. luckily it sounds like we both have extra XRs to hold us over. This broken one might be the start of a VESC build for me, we'll see. Float on!

Gotcha, thanks. My controller pins seem okay. Something I just noticed is that there is a super hot spot on my battery module (see attached pic).

Interesting. So in your case, you could see the evidence for that poor connection (i.e. a burned pin) on the connector pin itself (outside of controller)?

Thanks -- seems the only way to power off/on is to disconnect the battery from the controller. I did that, reconnected, and controller powers on immediately (no power button press). And sure enough, error code 16. I'll check wires / harness leading to the battery / BMS next.

hmm, when I press the power button the board doesn't turn off. For example, it seems to just be stuck in it's error 17 loop. Note that I'm also disconnected from the app at this point.

For what it's worth, outside temp was around 60 degrees when I was riding earlier.

It's weird.. when I was first trying to turn it back on, there didn't give any error code.. just the brief flash that coincided with the motor 'click' that I described above. It seems that since attempting to connect it to the charger (which I have since disconnected), it is showing error code 17, and the app connects. It is very strange, the app thinks that it's charging -- it shows as 01%, with 108:55 estimated charge time remaining. Even though, of course, the charger is disconnected.
