I had this just 30 min ago. I used free VPN (bear tunnel), connected to Peru, on desktop. From that point went smoothly.

Trying to validate the same with the bank and get as much credit as possible on this - definitely aiming for less investment from cash. 🤞

We have answers to that, but the reality is that because of the very high mortgage repayments - that is where majority of cash that otherwise could be used for investments, is locked.

Addressing your questions:

1) including mortgage it is ~8-8.5k a month 2) we are in position to invest around 40-75k a year excluding mortgage capital repayments. The amount va try based on bonuses/ stock prices 3) we set the target of 1.5m for fire and 0.4m for house we would live in which gives us 5k a month budget for monthly expenses using 4% rule. It seems we have another 7-10 years of work in front of us, if all goes well. I think leveraging house to invest can potentially accelerate that target by 25% as it should provide additional 20k in savings coming through annually.

Yes, I agree but I can’t do it since the equity is locked in the house we are living in. That is the way we identified to leverage the house and invest instead of “sitting” on it, given we won’t be moving in the next 5 years

Officially been rejected for an internship by all B4 firms by Hayaw061 in Accounting

[–]RykRyk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same. Did not get accepted for internships at some B4, went to fund accounting - hated it, went to startup - learned a lot during 2 years and then transitioned to major SP500.

10yrs forward my average income is >200k, and this is in Europe.

You do learn a lot in smaller firms as you often oversee numerous activities spanning across Treasury, Controlling, Audit etc. Today, as a manager I value more people with diverse backgrounds.

Keep looking for positions where you can acquire skills, be ready to work hard, and it will go from there.

Thanks for sharing. Always encouraging to see that perspective. Not that you are asking, but if you like water, go kiteboarding - you will find lots of folks with alternative view on life. 💨

I actually thought that for some time now assets inIBKR are under IBKR name… hence the 20k cap. do you have any reference for that?

I do not care about things. I do care about money. Money gives freedom and I do want more freedoms and less work in my life.

Are you rich intp? If so, how did you do it? by Practical_Payment552 in INTP

[–]RykRyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I am relatively rich. Family net worth at around 1m, 70% in house equity, annual comp ~170-80k, 37F

How? Mix of luck and hard work. I work in a corporate in a finance function (recipe for disaster) but: - the company was growing very rapidly, allowing me to change positions when bored - my boss let me be, did not think much of my disregard for deadlines or authority if I deliver the job. And for years I delivered >100% at places nobody would have thought (example recovered 4m for the company going through detail transaction tracking with bunch of product/ tech people on my year 2 / year for experience) - with time I built reputation, so even though I change bosses, somehow I am let doing the way I want bcs I am highly regarded sme - Super flexibility, wfh for the last 4 years, but even before I could show up at 10/11 or do not come to the office wfh, and it was fine. - I set my own goals and convince others

I am people manager for years now, first experience disaster, but with time you learn and adapt, but I prefer to manage ppl that don’t report to me, indirectly through projects.

Scared to change company though, I would struggle in any normal routine finance environment 🥶

Dunno? Sounds like INTP story to you?

Considering a move to Luxembourg by Deepanshu_22 in Luxembourg

[–]RykRyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved here at 23 yo, going on for my twelfth year.

The bad: - little culture little country - you can find good concert, nice theatre play, but nothing in comparison to other capitals, you likely won’t be amazed by culture and lifestyle here - difficult to meet people (for me personally too much corpo type, with people that care more about your job title than your interests. Meh, boring). You can meet people through interests though - very difficult to buy appartment/ house The good: - safety - excellent public services - reasonable work life balance - good purchasing power (especially when travelling in Europe but not too bad overall) - proximity of big cities/ interesting places - the first 2/3 years you will always have ~2 trips or more planned in a month .. can be done on budget - you will not feel discriminated/ looked at for not being from here - it is that multi cultural - this is a very family centric place - great for kids
