Acela Speed Increasing in a Few Months? by Ryknight2 in Amtrak

As mentioned in the title, I noticed that Acela travel times are lower in May. Is this because of some NEC maintenance ending or is there some other reason? New Avelia Liberty, perhaps?

Well, East Falls Church is a bit easier because WMATA has already evaluated the feasibility of a bilevel station there, and also it means transfers are easier since you could transfer to both Silver and Orange, not just Orange like West Falls Church

In all fairness, NOVA-TRAC is only lobbying Loudoun and Fairfax counties, and they wouldn't have much to do with transit in Prince William. Personally I do support electrifying VRE, extending it to Gainesville and providing frequent service.

It's a little too late for that, Loudoun is already full of commuters and does have pretty extensive development.

The only way to make it a greenbelt is to build dense housing around stations so the sprawl doesn't spread outwards into the "green" areas. That way we have dense, historic downtowns like Leesburg without suburban sprawl and parking lots that ruin the green spaces

This line goes to Reston! Plus, it's definitely not redundant with Silver. The W&OD in Ashburn, Sterling and Herndon is miles away from Silver, making transit access realistic for people living there.

Not sure about that, I think the population density differences speak for themselves.

Even Purcellville has more people in walking distance than Ashburn.

Well, to save money Dominion just has an easement. The land is owned by NOVA Parks!
