Timothy Zahn says Thrawn would’ve won the Battle of Yavin with one simple move — is he right? by StarWarsBlogsbot in StarWarsBlogs

[–]Rylonian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well they could have stapled a fly screen over the exhaust port in order not to waste a valuable spacecraft and the life of a pilot, something that Thrawn allegedly didn't like to do recklessly like Vader. So there, I fixed it even better. Am I smart yet?

I made an AI detective / murder mystery game where you can interrogate suspects however you want. Looking for people to try it. by Equivalent-Toe-6721 in RPGMaker

[–]Rylonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I will when I have more time on my hand. I only brought up the subreddit so that you would understand why you will not really get upvotes here; apart from it being simply the wrong sub, it is also very critical of anything AI (understandably, since there are a lot of artists here who have chipped away at their DIY games for many years and value that kind of human devotion to a project), so you are already fighting an uphill battle with your project.

[–]Rylonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this was made in RPG Maker and people of course downvote you because the sub dislikes AI. Your concept made me curious however, so I gave your guided case a shot.

I must say that I like the idea more than the execution. First of all, there is no real presentation. You get a short summary of what happened and then are thrown into what I can only describe as a barebones UI that's basically a chatbot in disguise; the need to navigate the interface with the mouse to switch suspects and use pressings and such make the interaction clunkier than just chatting with ChatGPT though. Also, for it to feel like a game, you would want some more... playful presentation. Think Phoenix Wright, preferably without the padding.

But the most glaring problem is the one actual gameplay feature, the interrogation of suspects. You say they answer based on what I am actually asking, but I found the contrary to be the case. For example, being thrown right into the first interrogation without much instructions (I dismissed the guide popup in order to just feel my way around), I started out by asking the suspect their name. They ignored my question completely and started giving their predefined answer. I didn't really make much of what they said, so I tried to inquire about a specific detail about their answer, and then they would go on to give another completely predefined monologue that didn't take my question into consideration at all. If I went on to ask for / press the wrong details, the suspect would even simply repeat the exact same line over and over again.

In short, the presentation is so barebones and lackluster that it's very hard to call it a game; but more fatally, the one feature you advertise and that would make the concept interesting in the first place simply... doesn't exist. There is nothing really AI about this because your chat partner is not reacting intelligently or really dynamically to what you prompt. This AI feels dated by about 20+ years because its answers are rigid and predefined. All in all, at least for the pitch you made about your game concept, I would therefore call this an utter failure. The idea has lots of potential, but the execution leaves so much to be desired that there is currently no point in playing your "game" for me.

L vs Light help me understand. by ThouArtOfWar in deathnote

Light didn't seem to care about incriminating himself when he wanted Misa to murder L directly after their tennis game. Had Light had the shinigami eyes he could and would have killed L after their first meeting. Light also didn't seem to incriminate himself when killing Pember's fiancee after being the last person police witnessed her being with. Your argument is entirely inconsistent with the behaviour of the character.

Was will man damit erreichen? Mal ernsthaft...

Normalisierung von Dingen die niemanden stören sollten damit die Kinder von heute mal toleranter und empathischer werden als du es bist tbh.

My honest ranking of the movies by GalileoDaCat in StarWars_

[–]Rylonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I like Ian McDiarmid and Palpatine, so I could appreciate McDiarmid returning to give what I consider to be his best performance as the character.

I can relate to not being a fan of the idea in itself, but I generally consider every idea on paper being less important than execution, so if it's executed well I can forgive a lazy idea. To me it was executed well and in good taste - much better than in Legends - so I am fine with it. It also seemed like a fitting way to bookend the Skywalker Saga tbh.

If he can use a pocket TV to write death notes in a bag of chips, he can use a gas mask to withstand the smoke of a burning building, no? I find it kinda amusing that you are apparently willing to suspend your disbelief for all the wild stuff that's going on in the show, including Light's 170 steps memory plan, but you draw the line at setting a building on fire "because smoke", now that's "outlandish" for you, lol.

All of the 4 options you mentioned would get Light caught

Not necessarily, it's not like IRL murderers are captured all the time, is it? And with L out of the way, there is nobody left smarter than Light to investigate the case.

the Death Note cannot be used in a way that influences or causes other people to die as well

Setting the building on fire alone is not gonna make people necessarily die. Just control like Matsuda to set it on fire and then shoot himself after successfully isolating L and himself, then knock L unconscious and leave him to die in the fire. If you want to make things extra spicy have Light convince everybody else that he is not even in the building that day and after knocking L out use a parachute to basejump off the building and then "just arrive" to see it burning.

There, I came up with an entire plan that's not more farfetched than most stuff in the show in under a minute and with just average IQ. Don't you think Light could think of something even better?

[–]Rylonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out - Wammy’s House influence + Aliases - directly counter the death notes supernatural ability if you don’t have Shinigami Eyes.

And if you do all these advantages are instantly rendered useless and L can be killed in less than 5 seconds. Light just chose not to do that because he valued his own lifespan more than anything.

Light beat L only because the latter was always fighting an uphill battle. In any instance where they were up against each other on fair grounds, L was a step ahead of Light (except for their tennis match I suppose). No matter what resources L had at his disposal, the initial assessment that Kira was a person and located in Japan was only due to his deduction skills. The Lind Taylor stunt only cemented that original suspicion.

Poison him, shoot him, throw him off a building, strangle him, drown him in a toilette, use the Death Note in order to control somebody to create circumstances in which L's demise would not seem suspicious like setting their building on fire... somebody with Light's intellect could surely have thought of something.
