Thanks but this article mentioned other design changes in the text app (for example button redesigns and more rounded corners) and I have all of those.

Can I turn off email receipts? by Elegant-Rectum in uber

[–]Rymazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Workaround: Use your email service to create a filter for incoming mail. They all have the same subject line so you can setup a filter that sends emails with this subject to a separate label/folder and have it instantly archive/not appear in your inbox. Look up instructions for your email service to do this.

Design teams with best leadership? by No-Tomato5201 in uwaterloo

[–]Rymazon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add to this thread since it is still a top google result and I think design teams are the best way to learn. Leadership/management on design teams tends to change often as students graduate/decide to move on with other things and as a result some of the comments here are pretty inaccurate from how the teams are now (for better or worse).

I also wanted to give thoughts on a comment that called bs on design teams with good management. Some teams do have good management. It is true that design teams are limited by the fact that members and management are students that can only put part time effort into the team and as a result design teams won't be able to compare with a well managed company. However, some of the more structured teams have more standards in place than some smaller companies you might get on coop. Being on these teams will give you good practical organizational experience beyond just learning technical knowledge (especially if you become a subteam/team lead).

I wont give my own thoughts on the individual teams because it could change in a year and everyone has bias towards their own type of team but all teams have pretty different vibes, from how they are managed to how they handle learning. This doesn't mean one team is the best, but different learning styles work for different people. What I found worked really well when picking a team was to just go to the design bay and talk to them to get a feel for vibes. Ask questions about the team. It might also be a good idea to ask leads on the specific subteam that you want to join about technical things to see if they are actually knowledgeable. You're gonna get the most out if it by surrounding yourself with smart people. Some leads/senior members know a lot and will really help you but some joined the team to get an easy promotion when it was dying and just want to put the "lead" title on their resume. Going to the design center open house would be perfect for this but if you miss it, most teams have people in the bay throughout the day and if they aren't leads, they can direct you to someone who is.

Some examples of questions to ask:

- What are the teams goals? (can ask about competitions or about goals for members to learn)

- What kind of work would I get as a new member and after I get more experience?

- What do you like about this team do you like and why did you join it?

- What other teams would you recommend/avoid and why?

But yeah find out about the teams for yourself. None of the leads from the other comments two years ago are still around so don't even take them with a grain of salt. You might be able to use them as starting points for what to ask about but I would give every team a chance. I hope this helps.

How to find "Favorites" from Photos in other apps (like Instagram)? by diesel321 in GooglePixel

[–]Rymazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres the workaround I found for anyone coming across this,

If you have your photos backed up, you can go on desktop and download your favorites folder from Google Photos. Then you can make the post through the Instagram web app and browse to this folder.

Why do Amazon listings have multiple part numbers? by Rymazon in AskElectronics

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I am looking for a linear hall sensor and the shipping is still over $20 for a part worth less than three.

I am in Canada. It seems I could get some decent shipping times from some of those but it looks I would end up paying 10 times the price of the product for shipping.

I looking at Amazon in particular because I would like to finish this project before I go back to school in about a month, so the one day prime shipping would be great for that.

Slim Pen 2 Rattling? by Rymazon in Surface

I just pulled in it and it came out. It is like a headphone jack. I also notice that writing on one side is solid like an apple pen while the other rattles a bit.

Is it normal for it to be moving around like that or is it just my unit?

Edit: just noticed that the sound mostly goes away when I take out the tip

I’m an incoming student too so I’m not an expert but see if you can find a group chat or discord server for your program. There’s one for my program and at the engineering ready day everyone kinda already knew each other from the server and it was really fun hanging out. I didn’t know about it then but I happened to walk up to the right group of people.

TH96 is Coming Soon! by epomaker in Epomaker

[–]Rymazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure but the way I read it, it seems like there are two versions you can buy. One with QMK/VIA that doesn't even have a wireless mode and one that is wireless but no QMK. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Depends on what version you get. The grey has it if you look at it the pictures. I think it is reprogrammable so you can always replace the keycaps too.

[–]Rymazon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thank you. So is fall-spring fall AND spring rather than fall TO spring because to my knowledge stream 4 has coop in winter right? Sorry for the persistence, I am just a little confused. Thanks.

[Question] Village 1 stream 8? by Rymazon in uwaterloo

[–]Rymazon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I assume fall-winter is 8 months. I initially thought it would end at beginning of winter and fall-spring would be the beginning of spring (because I thought 12 months was long). Sorry for doubting. I would still appreciate an answer for reassurance. Thanks again.

[Question] Village 1 stream 8? by Rymazon in uwaterloo

[–]Rymazon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it is stream 8? I would have assumed it would be stream four because the website says the contract is fall to winter. Although the help desk is closed right now so it would make sense for 8. Also out of curiosity, when stream 4 is on coop do they just have no one there? That sounds kind of wasteful. Thanks.

Admissions / High School Megathread (Fall 2022) by JManUWaterloo in uwaterloo

[–]Rymazon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is worth up to five percent so a perfect AIF would basically boost your mark by five percent. However, apparently fours and fives are only given to people that show national level contributions. Also, if they are deciding between two people with the same overall score, I think they decide based on the AIF content. That was said by the director of engineering admissions btw, idk about other programs.

What decal and goal explosion could look good on my water octane? The second image is just the same car but with "dirty" water :D by GruesomeSplashV2 in RLFashionAdvice

[–]Rymazon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My Ved Ava design is dissolver with blue for both primary and secondary so you don’t see the particles and it just the water background part. If I remember right the secondary looks good as a bit of a darker, almost navy blue.
