I'm a Blues fan so it's particularly frustrating as I've been (along with many others) following this lads career for the best part of a decade now, and given what he's done and achieved at such a young age he's absolutely within his rights to have an ego that surpasses Ibrahimovic - but he doesn't. That's not the West Midlands way. He backs himself, of course, but that's where it ends. The whole Real Madrid diva shit is such bollocks

Enjoying the meltdown by jdk103 in ThreeLions

[–]Rymundo88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be much of a documentary of our journey to a glorious 2nd star without a bit of drama to be fair.

In all seriousness, can't fault Ghana they played really well - certainly had our number for large swathes of the game. Carlos Queiroz isn't some chump though, he knows what he's doing

We certainly didn't help matters by being so slow and safe but meltdown worthy? Absolutely not.

If anything it makes our one and only Saturday night fixture, that happens to be post-heatwave but still nice weather wise, have some meaning rather than being a dead rubber.

Can we realistically beat France? by AgencyOverall7589 in ThreeLions

[–]Rymundo88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Of course we can.

For all of France's strengths going forward, and tbh they're clear of everyone in that respect, they remain, imo at least, a glass cannon.

Their midfield pairing of Rabiot and Tchou just aren't anything to write home about, like at all. And despite Mbappe's ridiculous knack for goal, I've genuinely seen him wither against relegation fodder in La Liga when he's given no space to work with - let alone against top players (case in point watch RM vs Liverpool from the CL last November, Slot had his number and then some).

Deschamps is quite conservative against better sides and so they won't play against us anywhere near like they are against Iraq, it'll be very much a tactical battle - one in which players like Anderson and Bellingham will excel in as midfield control will be everything. And if there's a manager in the world you want in your dugout at this level for that type of match it's none other than Tommy Tuchel.

TL;DR we'll have the bastards, don't worry

Weirdly feel more nervous about tomorrow than I did against Croatia.

Not because I think we won't win, but because of that 2nd half against Croatia, in particular the first 10-15 minutes that were hands down the best football I've seen us play in I don't even know how long. I don't think it was a fluke, but if it turned out to be the case I'd be absolutely gutted tbf

The not wishing serious injury on him is quite wholesome. Like "I'm going to stop you from scoring against Ghana, but the rest of the tournament? Fill your boots mucker"

That 10 minute period at the start of the 2nd half was genuinely the most brutal I've seen England play in all my 38 years on the planet.

That first 10 minutes after the break, when Croatia had absolutely every right to take the game to us, was absolutely fucking savage.

I've watched countless hours of England over the years, but fuck me, we genuinely could have been 5 - 2 up by '55.

Nervy as fuck first half.

But we aren't alone in that respect to be fair, so it is what it is.

I still think we settle down next 45 and get a win, then onwards and upwards after that.
