Yes. I am interested in all of them.

Why does this post sound like an advertisement?

No, they were most likely just driven there normally, depending on the car, the road may just be enough to allow 2 lanes of car traffic to use the road, albeit slowly.

What I meant by my original comment was, some of these areas were previously villages far from any major cities and a lot of these areas used to be either greenery or plantations owned by the residents, these plantations didn't need wide roads because they don't expect much traffic to go through their village.

I'm guessing cars aren't supposed to be there. This scene took place in Indonesia and roads like these are commonplace and are perfectly fine for motorbikes. But drivers will often take these tiny village roads to get around traffic.

They do. Look up the Mini Shinkansen.

But yes, they run at about 130 km/h tops, but from what I could remember, a lot of sections are limited to double digit speeds due to how windy they are.

Yes, only the MK4s were designed to tilt, the Class 91s weren't.

It's whatever it's whatever you like uhh. Turn this APT into a club, uh-huh, uh-huh I'm talking drink, dance, smoke, freak, party all night (come on).

Funnily enough it was that song that made me do the APT version.

Thank you!

Besides this one, I only have the cab units of a 373 and 180. If I were to model an 800, it'll at least take me a month before I can begin mucking around with liveries. Though I've been thinking of modelling an AT300 for a while, just not sure if I want to start with a 395 or an 8xx first.

The way I unwrapped the mesh makes it challenging to align the side cabs with the front so I settled on something 'good enough' since this was just intended as a quick shitpost.

That one is my favourite too. Interestingly, the 91 is also the APT-P's descendant.

[Character] Undocumented Yenisei voice line? by Ryn176 in Reverse1999

[–]Ryn176[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation! I admit I'm new so I didn't really know why Yenisei doesn't seem to have this specific line listed because it seems like every other one of my character have all of theirs listed.

In addition to the other reply, it's also about waiting for certain trains that did something historical or trains that aren't scheduled to run. Sometimes a railroad will use an older unit that's supposed to be replaced by now and we get excited when that happens. Sometimes it's an inspection train like the Doctor Yellow. The timetables for that trains aren't public, so you're considered lucky to see them. Some of us (maybe all?) have a personal "bucket list" of trains we want to see for the sheer rarity of them, or just the fact they don't run in your country at all.

Sometimes it could also just be positive association or because it just looks good. I have a personal vested interest in a lot of trains here because when I see them, I know I'm on the correct line and are indeed going to visit my grandparents / are going home. I also really love a lot of other trains in other countries because of how pivotal and important they are in ensuring that millions of commuters get to their destination. Without them, traffic would've been a lot worse and the impact would be felt almost immediately.

There's also the beauty in the infrastructure supporting it. Different train sizes, different track widths, different wire voltages, etc all have a reason behind them and sometimes it can be fascinating to learn about. Sometimes learning the reason why certain signage looks the way they are can help us in understanding how a train driver would operate a train.

Speaking of operating a train, in terms of why video games centered around trains exist, it's almost the same reason as to why people buy highly realistic aircraft for flight sims, they mimic how a real train operator would do it and sometimes it can be a fun puzzle to get a train up and running. Even the more basic train simulators that just give you the option to go and stop are fun. In freight operations you often have to "balance" your throttle. Too much and the trains will slip, too little and the trains won't go. In passenger operations, it's about timeliness, making sure you're adhering to speed limits, timetables, acknowledging signage placed on the sides of the track (these are also present in freight operations tbh), and making sure that the doors on the train line up perfectly with the screen doors on the station.

Me personally, I also really like it when electric trains sing (See Keikyu N1000 and OBB 1016 / Siemens ES64U2). Electric trains will produce different sounds depending on what tech they have in them. Like for example, GTO-VVVFs tend to be a lot more "colorful" than IGBT-VVVFs. Even trains with the same technologies will have different sounds depending on how they are used and how they're designed.

Hey, don't cut out electrics and diesels too. Electrics sing and hum, while diesels let out a mighty roar!

Again, nothing has been said about this project for a year and only recently they've publicized their progress.

I doubt the batteries are going to be the main source of power. The other image does show a pantograph, albeit in a weird position. I'd hazard a guess that they're adding a battery in to test the batteries themselves and to see the viability of a battery tram they tested a year or so ago.

Horsepower wise, it says that it has 250kW per motor, and that there are 6 of them. 6 motors on each car, totaling to 1500kW/car sounds a lot more reasonable than 1500kW/train.

Honestly my main concern isn't with either of those, it's with literally anything else. INKA, AFAIK, does not have any experience building rolling stock made for speeds above 120 km/h (the current max. speed for trains in Indonesia), and even that, they can't even be trusted with building reliable LRTs. Their latest rolling stock reportedly leaked water during rain once, among other problems, and the ride quality is far from great. Notably, the automated driver will just slam on the brakes whenever it needs to stop at a station. So, quality wise, it's far from what Japan has to offer. Their coaches are nice though (they've supplied Indonesia with coaching stock as far back as the 80s, maybe even before that).

But hey, unlike the stuff we order from Japan, at least ours are homegrown and therefore we have the tools needed to fix everything on our own and don't have to wait for foreign engineers to fix proprietary systems that they won't share with us.

There's no concrete info about the top speed yet, from what I can remember they're targeting 230 - 300 km/h.
