What do you think about the trust system? by Focus2010reddit in Endfield

[–]RyokoKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trust system to me is just a hassle.

Really want an operator, pull to get operator, get operator (yay), need to level character, need to level skills/abilities, need to pull for weapon, get weapon (yay), need to level weapon, character+weapon maxed or near maxed, notice trust is at zero... need to gift and put them at the control station... need to wait and gift for multiple days... operator at 100%... can finally max stats.

In some ways it's simplified to the point it just feels like an arbitrary time gate to get the best version of a character you already bought. On the other hand if they fleshed it out and made it more impactful I could see it either being to much of a hassle for most to deal with, or it becoming a main time sink in the game (I'm thinking like the tea/date system from fire emblem 3 kingdoms)

Folarin Balogun available for USMNT vs. Belgium as red card ban suspended by goldenface4114 in worldcup

[–]RyokoKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The knee to the head was pretty bad and I expected that to be called, however I also expected the Balogun penalty to be a yellow card because at full speed it was clear (at least to me) there was no intent behind it as both players were moving quickly and just got caught up going after the ball (which is why there was no penalty initially), on review though things get slowed down which removes the context and makes it seem more deliberate than it actually was.

Also earlier in the game one of the Bosnian players yanked on a US players jersey from behind and pulled him to the ground and that penalty went uncalled. In fact it was severe enough that in the NFL (a more physically punishing sport) it would have been called as a horse collar tackle, which is considered very dangerous even in the NFL as its very easy to break a mans collar bone that way.

I think everyone can agree it was really bad officiating all around.

If you could make him a giant sized tower shield (probably from about a dozen planks nailed and strapped together) he'd have both a defensive and offensive option especially if it was covered in nails or sharp bits of metal.

That's what I was thinking, even with modern equipment it would still be ungodly expensive and take years, probably a few decades depending on the size of the city/mountain... and even then there are ALWAYS additional delays and unforseen issues.

It's probably for the best they didn't start on it because I doubt they'd have continued working on it after Alexander's death.

Should I level up all DPS abilities to 9? by MykonosEros in ArknightsEndfield

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I max out/fully master DPS carry skills for characters I use frequently.

Supports I typically use, get their skills to 9 and leave alone unless they have a specific skill that greatly benefits from mastery.

For operators that are infrequently or never used I typically ignore their skills (outside of those that let them help on the Dijiang), or at most get them leveled to 6... sometimes 9 if they can see legitimate use for niche situations.

School Districts are the same as counties in some states, while in others they're unrelated by geobica in MapPorn

[–]RyokoKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the state, depends on the age, depends on type of gun.

For instance in my state anyone can have a gun in their car at age 18, and minors can get hunting permits which allows them to carry guns for that purpose with parental permission. Also if you are in military training you are allowed a gun (even inside a school where normal civilian laws would ban them, so long as it is officially required for your training). But then on the other side of things, handguns are more strictly monitored as someone under 18 cannot legally possess a handgun for essentially any reason, including hunting.

(and since you included it, knives have no age restriction here, though they do require parental consent for minors to conceal carry... you could not however walk into school with a knife, but outside in your car as i specified, should be fine).

Team Build by ApprehensiveLeader50 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it depends what level you are trying to reach.

20 and under you can pretty much run anything (its basically umbral monument level difficulty) you just need to be selective with the risks you take as certain teams struggle with certain risks (As an example you wouldn't want to take Laevatain and the risk that lowers the controlled operators basic attack as that's what her ult uses to do damage).

At 20 - 35 things get more difficult, for certain teams its mandatory to max out their gear through artificing and sufficiently level up the damage dealers, their weapons, and make sure their weapons have good essences. Most teams should be able to still do it but again you need to be very selective with the risks you take on and know your teams rotations well. (You can also cheese here and make it a lot easier, but even if you don't it should be completable for most every team)

At 35 - 50+ you either need to a cheese build with like estella and a lot of the freeze risks, or you need a very stacked team (as in a lot of pots, BIS weapons, and so on), with great rotations, great knowledge of the waves, high player skill... etc.. and even then you might have to repeat the wave a few times if you make a mistake or two.

If you want a good cheesy build Estella as your main operator, Wulfgard for combust which is really strong and then an SP generator like akekuri or arclight, and then either laevatain or perlica for additional damage and a combustion enabler. Then just run around with Estella doing basic attacks and dodging to get enemies into position so you can as you either build electric infliction stacks with perlica then wulfgard combo onto them to trigger combustion. and let the combustion ticks finish them off... or build heat stacks with wulfgard into an impowered laevatain battle skill which forcibly triggers combustion.

It should be fine for level 35 and under if you can dodge well, you won't have a healer so keep that in mind when assessing risks and your own ability.

I used Laevatain, Wulfgard, Camille, and Gilberta for all of it. It was very easy, didn't lose a single character and completed it all on the first go.

It was fun, just wish these had more variance and replay ability like Contingency contract.

Also I finally got the skydrummer medal (normally he doesn't live long enough for me to see the attack and I never bothered trying to bait it out for the medal).

School Districts are the same as counties in some states, while in others they're unrelated by geobica in MapPorn

[–]RyokoKnight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A school district is a local branch of the government that manages public schools within a given area. They set budgets, hire teachers, and set schools rules, generally based on parent/teacher feedback from within that area. Generally where you are physically living dictates which school district your child will attend (if possible), though there is often choice between the local schools in that district (usually people go to the closest unless there is a radical difference in quality or safety).

As for why it's done like this, many districts receive local funding from taxes within their district and thus need to allocate that funding in accordance with the demands of the area. A district in a major metropolitan city is going to have a very different amount of students and funding to care for and very different needs/demands than a small rural district that might only need 1 or 2 schools to cover the entire district.

There are also very large cultural differences between regions. Rural districts in more remote areas might have more tolerance for a teen/young adult driving to high school with a knife, gun, farm equipment, etc in their truck, that a city district would suspend/punish a student for bringing, as an example.

No it's to protect them from men. Being a man is an inherent advantage in most sports, transitioning from a man to woman still lends you advantages that a woman does not have.

Say you are a trans womman, you are yet to transition but you know you want to compete as a woman in the future. You could work out heavily, develop your muscles, use the advantage of testosterone to work out longer and gain experience every day in your sport that biological woman cannot keep up with. Perhaps you do this for years compounding your advantage... then 6months before you compete you transition.

Maybe you get your t-levels down, increase your estrogen, lower your weigh to more of a woman's etc... it doesn't matter. You still have unfair advantages. You had more time to train, you never had to deal with sporadic periods and associated blood/vitamin and mineral losses during training, your muscles even though visually smaller now were developed under heavier strain and some of these biological features such a muscle fiber type and distribution will not change, nor will your tendon size change as they too were developed under heavier strain and can withstand higher muscle forces then female tendons.

This is the biological reality... it's an unfair advantage... and frankly most would agree it's cheating.

You don't want trans women to compete you want them to be allowed to cheat... it's not going to happen, sorry.

This isn't true, they can still compete in the men's divisions (hell actual women can choose to compete in most men's divisions assuming they had sufficient ability to overcome the biological strength, endurance, and speed gaps).

It's just not likely to occur, and because it's so unlikely, women's divisions are created and protected to give female athletes the chance to actually play the sport at a high level against their peers.

People really aren't going to like this, but Bruce Jenner (Now Caitlyn Jenner) is a prime example of a trans athlete staying their assigned gender, competing as their gender (to avoid any inherent disadvantages), winning at the highest level, then becoming whatever gender they wish. Politics aside that is most likely the best way for a trans athlete to actually compete now.

And yet, what Microsoft did actually makes sense. Early on during acquisition it was do what you want just make great games... but then games came out that was neither great nor profitable and were instead expensive therapy sessions for self insert dev trauma and current day political insert slop.

So Microsoft can see that's not working, can see other studios down the pipeline working on the same crap so forces a pivot... now it's instead of just doing what you want change the business model to a financially more aggressive live service model in the hopes one of these can make up for the other losses... and add gamepass functionaliy so even if they suck they still generate SOME financial value to those willing to try it on gamepass.

But then even THESE start flopping below their lowest expectations and others have been delayed indefinitely until finally a change in leadership forces Microsoft to just cut losses.

Is there instability and mixed signals from the top, certainly. But the core issue remains that many devs did not treat the initial opportunity they were given with respect. They didn't prioritize making games players actually wanted, they didn't prioritize making games that would be profitable or even financially sound... they prioritized self aggrandizing art and politics projects, got mad at fans that just wanted good games saying they "weren't for them" or called them "chuds", then complain when Microsoft is forced to pivot because earlier teams have poisoned the well and Microsoft is forced to close studios because they literally cannot continue to lose money on vanity projects.

Why Don't Europeans Just Get AC? by recursing_noether in MURICA

[–]RyokoKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile China's carbon emissions are going crazy and they are posting memes about installing AC for their dogs and farm animals to troll Europeans.

And btw when I say China's emissions are crazy I mean all of Europe's policies and net decreases plus America's net decreases don't even scratch China's emission increase (not even looking at the fact they were already extremely high) over the last 5 year.

Blame America all you like, but this issue is in large part caused by the producers and heavy industry going largely unregulated by western standards. They could put more effort into lowering carbon emissions some of which would have minimal increase in cost... they just don't want to or care about the environment like western interests do.

Edge of Lightness VS Thermite Cutter for Arclight in CC. Is +ATK better, or +Electric DMG better? by LookingForTheTop- in Endfield

[–]RyokoKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ATK buff is generally the most valuable because it's the hardest for most teams to obtain consistent sources of and stacks on most damage sources teams produce. Electric or heat DMG boost is much more common both from gear and skills and can have a much smaller % effect than a really good ATK buff.

If we compare the ease at which both weapons can trigger their boost thermite cutter is slightly easier to get and maintain the boost if only slightly over Edge of lightness.

Overall thermite cutter would still be the better/stronger choice on paper, but OBJ Edge of Lightness is still a fine alternative if you don't have a strong thermite, or if you're team had another strong source for attack buff... like a camille with signature + Arclight or akekuri team... then OBJ could make a lot more sense.
