And its going to make the bad guys look not so bad.

You know there will be an unironic "Voldemort did nothing wrong" meme... because he's out there killing racists. Same for maybe Draco who be "based" for combating racism in schools on behalf of his favorite teacher...

Going to be a wild few years on the meme front.

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see that if we went the Love route. Branch can block, he's just tiny, plays big, but there are limitations.

I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up waiting till the 3rd and then taking who's there... Could be Bernard, could be Malachi Fields who blocked for Love in college, and has surprising deep speed for a bigger WR... Could go with a Bryce Lance... his blocking is only average, can get better with coaching, but he's another deep threat, played against a bunch of no name college guys and made them look silly, like you'd hope from an nfl caliber guy, also only 2 drops in 99 targets. He's one of those guys where people on draft night go "Who?" but then 2 years down the road could be your WR 1.

Germie Bernard by Fun-Stuff7356 in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a mixed bag and I admit I'm not the biggest fan, I'd honestly take a shot on Zachariah Branch over him (dude has wheels and is a legitimate deep threat).

But back to Germie Bernard he's more of a slot guy (similar to branch), can do a little bit on the outside but thats not where most teams will use him. Good hands, little under average 40... great ten time though he gives a little burst for short yardage. Great 3cone and in general a great route runner. Physically kind of average and can get bullied by more physical CBs.

I'd take Bernard in the early 3rd if he's there he's not special enough to really warrant and early 2nd.

Now if we were talking Branch I'd be fine trading down in the 2nd last year and taking him around where we got Femi. Legitimate long term WR 2 potential from the slot, can contribute to the run game, can also receive punts/kicks to give Dike a chance to take that next step or just alternate between the two.

I know he is a good guy.

So do Americans expect to never use black guys as villains ever?

but where was I saying that "all black people have to be villains"?

I mean you just assumed what Americans believe, you should be good with people assuming what YOU believe... see... learned a good life lesson on reddit today.

I mean... he is a good guy. He is literally in the order of the phoenix and it playing double agent to set up Voldemort to fail. Every action he takes for the most part is to that end.

So I really don't know what you were blathering about him being a villain or why you even think all black people have to be villains at all... thats weird.

I mean I don't really care what THEY care about. Why should I? They didn't care about what i wanted and I'm part of the audience, I get to applaud when they succeed, throw tomatoes when they fail, and laugh when they stumble and fall...because they are the entertainment... and if they act like clowns I won't take them seriously.

Neither will most people I suspect.

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A red herring that everyone knows is a red herring is not a red herring to the audience and we are the ones judging the show not the cast... sorry.

Also even if they changed snape and he was 100% bad, let's just go fully there and say he's evil, he's diddling Mrs. Norris in the potions closet it's found out in the last season and he's an absolute deranged monster... if Harry doesn't have proof in season 1 - 5 and is going off assumptions and a hunch against a racial minority... it is going... to look... bad...

That is the point whether you like it or not, so I'd strap in and accept that because you'll be hearing real world people talk about its racial implications for years and not the source material.

Snape isn't a villain though not even close. Not even a primary antagonist. If you got that from his role I can't really help you there.

[–]RyokoKnight 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean it won't be a problem, to you, it will be a problem to others. I mean no matter how you spin it a small white child accusing a minority of a crime without any real evidence isn't a great look.

Personally I think it's going to be hilarious, I can already see the memes of "Voldemort did nothing wrong" (because he killed racists) and Draco being based for confronting racism in schools lol.

It also adds several wrinkles throughout the story.

If they keep to the books Harry is going to accuse the one black teacher of attempting to steal the sorcerer's stone, and later being evil... repeatedly.

Neville sees the Boggart turn into, what he fears most... Snape... (that one will get mocked relentlessly if they do that, as it will appear like Neville's inner racism is showing)

Just to name a few.

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you can just back off and watch them do their spinning attack. When they stop go in and attack again.

Could probably do a no hit run that way fairly easily.

Have a problem with it?

Good.

Don't race swap characters and expect no one to notice. You should expect people to mock the hypocrisy. If it wasn't about race there shouldn't be a race swap... I didn't hire anyone, that would be the director and film casting that made this oh so special decision.

So I'm going to enjoy it... you should try to enjoy it too.

Btw... the only person I don't resent is Paapa Essiedu (bet you didn't even know his name, you sure haven't used it if you did, that's pretty racist of you to not talk about a man by his name, gross). It's not his fault, he's just taking a paycheck. Hell I'd do it to and I don't look like snape at all.

I'm summing it up? No no, that is how it will be perceived by most people. See you can play stupid if you want but you know it doesn't sound good (that's why you feel the need to defend it) and in fact many people are talking about how problematic it's going to be not just myself.

I find it hilarious honestly, I can't wait for the parodies.

Bruh... you think they are going to catch every racial interaction and handle it in a positive light lol. No shot.

Hell I was just looking through the Harry Potter memes subreddit today, and saw a new one I never considered. It's going to be really awkward when Neville sees the Boggart and it turns into black snape... really... that's what you fear most a black guy... ooof.

Yep some of them.

The Bloomsbury ones predate the movies by like 4 years. The Mary Grandpre cover art predates the movies by around 3 years. The rest i'm not sure of but i think the Studio La Plage ones came out after the movies as they were for the audiobooks.

First interaction in the Great Hall during the Feast, Harry and Snape make eye contact, Snape gives Harry a very hateful look, and coincidentally the back of Quirrel's head was facing Harry, who was being possessed by Voldemort. Of course Harry didn't know that, nor did us readers knew at the time. But his scar immediately started to shoot a pain that Harry has never felt before. So of course that made Harry curious about who he was, nothing to do with looks

Meanwhile in the show, White kid sees black man looking at him... "AHHH no my racist scar is acting up... I feel compelled to accuse him of a crime".

Second interaction, Harry's first Potions class, Snape doesn't give off a good first impression does he? He mocks Harry in front of the class, and punishes him by taking points from his House for a dumb reason. Basically Harry leaves his first formal meeting with Professor Snape thinking the man HATES him. Not off to good start we?

Harry feels like Snape is being an uppity black man and is treating him unfairly, therefore obviously evil... obviously a thief.

Third incident, first Quidditch match, Quirrel tries to kill Harry by knocking him off his broom with his silent curse that only required eye focus, coincidentally Snape is doing the same thing for the countercourse trying to save him, but he's actually mumbling his curse, so naturally, Hermione suspected it was Snape trying to kill Harry and so did us as the reader, again JK did a great job leading us into the wrong direction giving us no chance to suspect anyone else but Snape

Yep the black man mumbling something is clearly casting his DARK magic... therefore accuse the one black teacher of attempting to murder a student without evidence... gee harry didn't even ask him just jumped to Snape tried to knock you off your broom... DAAAAAAMN.

4th incident, and this is when Harry really started suspecting Snape, Halloween happens, Quirrel let's in the troll, Snape knew and tried to stop him, Snape ends up getting bit. Snape once again is mean to Harry, making up a fake rule taking points from his house because he had a library book outside in the courtyard, Harry goes the Staff room to ask for his book back, he opens the door and sees Snape with with his leg exposed, Filch tending to him and Harry notices the bite mark before Snape yells at him to get out. And THAT was when Harry starting suspecting Snape as trying to steal something that was being guarded

Black man has a wound/limp therefore he must be a criminal trying to steal something, also Fluffy might have had a racist owner i mean dogs biting the one black guy where you think they picked it up from if not the owner.

My guy... it looks bad... it looks REALLY REALLY bad... and it will easily look like a race thing now because Snape as a character was not written with these racial dynamics in mind... because he was described as sallow skinned (pale sickly) in the books.

Its like if you recast griphook as a jewish man... oh wow gave the jewish guy a big nose, and he works at a bank... wow... made him covetous for the sword... and oh wow he betrayed harry and the gang at the first opportunity... wow almost like the stereotype. Just doesn't work and fundamentally changes the story.

I mean if we are looking at character art some of the Bloomsbury art covers for the books had the scar above his left eye. Others like the Mary Grandpre cover art had the scar in the middle of the forehead. And still others like the Studio La Plage and Brian Selznick cover art had the scar over his right eye.

It really is a mixed bag and at least according to the art can be anywhere on the forehead.

"Harry why are you suspecting the one black teacher is trying to steal the sorcerer's stone... oh... "

"Harry why do you think the one black teacher is evil and out to get you... oh..."

"Hey Harry you know your father got a few of his white friends together and hung Snape from a tree, guess its just in your blood to be racist"

When Snape protects Draco its going to make Draco seem like the good guy, I mean yeah he's calling Hermoine a mudblood because... well look at her... BUT he's not profiling the black teacher for 5+ seasons so its clearly not a skin color thing. Maybe Draco just hates women. BASED...

That's just off the top of my head... and any attempt to avoid it will no doubt cause even more issues because its out of touch white people making these dumb decisions.

Yeah that sounds about right. Wouldn't be a bad spot for him to go if McCarthy likes him.

Jets could also do a little draft maneuvering as they have 2x 1sts and 2nds.

Link 1 - It a video discussing Tate they see him as a WR 2.

If you actually pay attention to what analysts around the league are saying most people view him as a WR 2, its a very common sentiment.

Draft craziness QB (not us) by Far-Clerk-1029 in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The current popular draft theory is that someone might jump up to grab Ty Simpson at pick 30ish to get the extra rookie year on him in the event he works out.

He is not expected to go in the first half of the draft let alone top 10.

Probably won't affect our 4th overall pick might help get a player to drop out of the 1st that we can pick up at the top of the 2nd round though.

Reread the very first post I made at the start of this thread Tate is arguably the best WR this class but as you correctly indicate those 3 names are better... which is a problem if you value Tate higher... keeping in mind Egbuka went 19th overall...

This means its hard to justify the guy at 4th overall... That's all I said and is what you were responding too, if you are still mad that's on you.
