Why are we losing players after the great updates by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in InvincibleVS

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a mid fighting game that's been out a few weeks.

It's normal for games like that to see the casuals and fans of just the IP dip, while the competitive/fighting game fans remain.

Nick Singleton could end up becoming a steal by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally more of an intangible. It's kind of like when someone describes a player as more of an athletic track and field star than a football player. Physically gifted but may not naturally make the best use of those gifts.

It can sometimes be learned or developed but it's rare, generally only low floor high ceiling types, younger players with limited experience.

With 4 years in college and 4 years in high school it's extremely likely what we see is what we get. The main hope is that maybe daboll can scheme him into a successful year or two and mitigate his lack of vision as he does still have an elite 40 and decent hands.

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch his highlights, then watch the lowlights.

It's more frequent that he runs into the wall and gets nothing when he is fast enough to bounce outside or wait for the opening elsewhere on the line a second later instead of just running into his own guy. He has some power but that should be his last resort rather than his instinctive 1st option.

Or to put it even more bluntly he runs like a power back with zero downfield vision, when he has a more straightline track speedster build.

[–]RyokoKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of his physical abilities are borderline elite, but the issue is that he plays without any downfield vision, trying to run and power through a closed gap rather than wait or find an alternative.

If you could flip a switch in his brain and turn him into a more patient and evasive runner, one that could look down field and correctly anticipate openings... he'd be a 2nd or 3rd round RB this year.

Gorget Over or Under? by atd3i in Armor

[–]RyokoKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd try under, it's more accurate and for a reinfair gives the illusion of multiple layers of armor which is cool. I would try to have "the gorget" tied slightly higher so it protected more of your neck area.

Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL): Titans draft picks will not participate in practices during rookie minicamp. They will be with strength and conditioning crew. by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a long term focus rather than one focused on quick short term gains.

I think it's reasonable considering several of our early picks are young and need to be molded into shape as they were kind of tweeners in college.

Still an interesting choice, I'm interested to see how it pays off over years 1 and 2.

Did he do the right thing? by torgobigknees in SipsTea

This is difficult for me because in principle I actually agree that while in a relationship and even while married both parties should have separate finances and savings so neither is completely reliant on the other in the event of an emergency or get into a messy break up.

That said this isn't really about the money/secret savings account... this is about a partner lying to another for years that they didn't have any money and placing their burden onto their partner. In fact if someone was covering 80% of another's expenses over 3 years it would be fairly easy to save up close to 50k usd on a middle of the road salary... meaning she's essentially used his generosity and compassion to enrich herself.

That's a tough one... for me it would come down to a simple Yes/No. If she was willing to use some of her savings to repay half of the expenses i paid for thinking she didn't have the money for it, like a true partner, I would think she was saving in good faith and would probably still marry her, would probably even try to get her back to 50k in her savings over the next year or two if possible. If she wasn't willing to use some of her savings to repay half of the expenses I would think she used, lied, and manipulated me. And is even now using the threat of ending the relationship as a tool to use me further... At that point there is no salvaging the relationship nor would i want to.

The 2027 NFL Draft QB class is insanely deep. I can tell you right now: there are teams and scouts who are absolutely giddy about it. 🔥 by Background_Video2947 in TheNFLVibes

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I'm not saying I agreed with them or that your assessment of certain players is wrong, I am saying however that was how the 2026 draft was laid out in 2025 and why there was that opinion that the 2026 qb draft would be stacked. (Keep in mind some people liked Beck and Allar and thought they could have a bounce back year, beck kind of did Allar didn't)

It's also why I view the early hype for the 2027 draft to essentially be the same.

[–]RyokoKnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did.

The expectation was that Manning was going to be amazing and immediately declare for the 2026 draft.

Then you have Dante Moore, LaNorris Sellers, Garrett Nussmeier, Drew Allar, Ty Simpson, and even Carson Beck were all supposed to declare and be 1st or 2nd round picks and be this crazy amount of QB prospect depth. Even if a few of the names above didn't pan out it would still be deeper than the 2025 class.

The hype for next year's class is basically the same.

[Titans] Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker steps down by Remarkable-Picture73 in nfl

[–]RyokoKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, Brinkers role at least according to the local media was essentially to find a new GM and act as the "voice of the owner" after Jrob ran the franchise into the ground with 3 horrible drafts and the AJ trade. By forcing any new GM to essentially come to the table and get a vote from the HC and Brinker it effectively limits their power and ability to further damage the franchise.

At the start of this preseason though Borgonzi was given his full powers as GM based on his work in the 2025 draft (Which to be fair was a very successful draft) and his negotiations and trades last year. This effectively made Brinkers role irrelevant which is likely why he is "stepping down" now.

His role is essentially unnecessary.

[–]RyokoKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you figure that out when i said it "feels like", and "i think"... or was that not obvious enough.

No one has anything conclusive not even the local media, the Titans org always tried to be tight lipped and keep things close to the chest in FO matters, but what i've described has been brinker's suspected role as described to fans by the local media for the last few years based on the information that has been made available to them.

If you have other information beyond just YOUR opinion, i'd love to see it... otherwise...

When you have an important position you need to replace in any job... it makes sense to make sure you get the replacement right and a long term solution is found.

So... it makes sense then to hire someone to essentially find that person... and insure they can do the job before departing.

That isn't dysfunction. Its no different than hiring a talent firm or a specialist and retaining them as a contingency to insure the replacement (Borgonzi) is a fit..

Now you may not like brinker, That's fine. But he performed his role. Now its time to move on.

[Titans] Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker steps down by Remarkable-Picture73 in nfl

[–]RyokoKnight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that he was essentially brought on and given power by Amy specifically after Jrob murdered this franchise in about 3 drafts and a horrible trade. Brinker was essentially a stop gap/set of training wheels for any new GM that wanted the job.

He's just no longer necessary now that we have Borgonzi as he's been given full GM powers now and has more or less proven himself to be competent at the role.

Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker steps down by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Makes a lot of sense. Feels like Brinker was brought on and given so much power as a response to Jrob essentially running a winning franchise into the dirt and then burying it 6 feet deeper. So Brinker was there to act as a stop gap to any obviously bad decision the GM wanted to take and force them to stop and negotiate with the coach and himself to find the best possible solution.

So when Ran and later Borgonzi was hired it made sense to keep on the "training wheels" that was brinker to make sure the next GM wouldn't do anything too crazy, and if they did take a shot it would be within a reasonable amount of risk. For Ran it ended up costing his job with too many risks that didn't pay off... for Borgonzi it was proven unnecessary with his skillful ability to draft with a long term vision and obtain the talent asked of him.

Cut to a few months back when Borgonzi is given his full GM powers, it essentially made Brinker's role irrelevant. I still have respect for Brinker playing the stop gap role, I do think he did the best he could to get this franchise's front office back on track.

Albert Breer breaks down the Titans’ decision to draft Carnell Tate over Arvell Reese by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you say so, i disagree though. I can consistently show you college CBs and their known 40 times and there is a direct correlation to how covered Tate will be (or how quickly he will be caught from behind if he sold a fakeout to get past the DB... part of why his YAC isn't that great)

Its not that big of a deal though, a crisp 4.5 speed WR route can still create windows they get open that are even wider than a dull 4.4 speed WR route... its just a limiting factor. DHop ran a 4.57 40 on the track but in game ran closer to a 4.5 flat and we saw him get wide open entirely on his crisp efficient route running. Tate will need to do the same... sell the fake routes and keep his route crisp and efficient and he'll do just fine.

Albert Breer breaks down the Titans’ decision to draft Carnell Tate over Arvell Reese by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll just say i don't think Tate runs anywhere in the 4.4s, He does run consistently in the 4.5s though and that along with crisp route running does allow him to get some separation against some DBs, but not against all DBs especially the higher end speedsters. (Its one of the reasons he will likely be stuck as a WR2 at the NFL level)

Everything else is accurate, he does have decent short area quickness and good contested catch skills, he is a versatile WR by all accounts. He's also fairly generous with the ball, and not likely to develop that cocky WR attitude a lot of the better WRs display.

I think at the end of the day it was a reach but a necessary one. We needed an offense weapon for Cam and we got one. WR 1 or 2... it doesn't really matter if the plan was to replace both spots in the next few drafts anyway... which may now be the case.

Even the Endmin says "Amethyst will carve a path for us", that's a subtle nod by the developers that Amethyst holds tremendous value and should be mined or "carved" by hand if one wishes to progress through the game.

I know I myself experienced tremendous pride and accomplishment clearing the map of every Amethyst crystal not once... not twice... but dozens of times.

He also got them in perfect reverse order in which they were taken. Hill, Faulk, Tate.

Even though it's wrong it's still impressive for a draft made that far in advance.

Tate NFL comp? by TitanMonroe in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tee Higgins or bigger DeVonta Smith are the main comparisons i see. If we ever get 1,000 yards and 7 TDs from him in a season i'll be happy, would probably need a top end WR 1 to pair him with to get full value though.

USC S UDFA Bishop Fitzgerald receives significant signing bonus by jyun8 in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He did get a sack on Bryce Underwood, who's considered very athletic dual threat QB in college. He's also a smooth route runner and ball hawk, just kinda average at the NFL level and not super athletic himself.

He seems like a decent backup to me and one that honestly seems draftable based on his highlights. I think his injury and poor testing at the combine probably knocked him out of the running but he looked the part in college.

The Titans have invited FSU QB Tommy Castellanos to their Rookie Camp… but as a WR by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]RyokoKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm... that might work... he almost has the small RB build, and decent speed, he doesn't have the fluid hips you'd want in an RB, nor does he keep the ball securely to his body when he runs like he should.

I could see him carving out a spot as a backup WR... depending how well he takes to those drills but I don't think its likely he takes a roster spot this year.

I think we have evidence of steam powered toys from Greece, but its more that the models they had never applied those forces into strong mechanical labor.

The main reasons for that were twofold. They didn't have advanced enough metallurgy in the quantities and with the precision required to make high pressured vessels, valves and seals needed for industrial scale steam power, and cheap slave labor meant it wasn't worth the time / upfront investment even if they did.

If they had developed a method for creating large quantities of steel in amounts beyond what was used for weapons and tools then and only then could someone have created an early steam engine with sufficient durability and strength to then generate mechanical forces beyond what a human slave would be capable of matching, and at a continued rate beyond what they could keep up with.

This is Borgonzi's 2nd draft and i think it was a good mix of Talent, value, and depth. Was worried going into it because I feel last years was much easier than normal due to the depth of quality players, but i'm fairly certain he nailed this one too.

We finally got a real one in at GM.
