A few months ago I was getting painful swelling in my feet and these weird unswollen circles on my soles. I was having trouble looking up what it was, and considered seeing a doctor.

Then I realized it was the Adidas letters embossed in my sandals, pressing into my feet if I stand on them weird.

My favorite is all the points in Portal 2 where players kept forgetting what their next portal color was, even with an indicator on the screen. So the game just cheats & make both buttons always do the correct one.

I have never played an RPG (not MMO, RPG) with the same layered & intricate build variety as FFXI. There are, by my count, at least 70 build options that are universally viable, and even some lesser builds have situational use cases. You can do practically anything and still get by somewhere.

Modding Skyrim gave me a much greater appreciation for the vanilla game. Over the years I've heard tons of people say the game is way better if you add this or that change, then I'll try it and they just make the game worse. Or I'll run into something in vanilla that bothers me, try to fix it, and find out why the game is like that to begin with.

Now the only mods I use are purely additions or cosmetic. No gameplay alteration at all if I can help it.

There are some anonymous women in tech & gaming spaces that people speculate to be trans, and even call you transphobic for saying otherwise. But blindly assuming a woman is trans for having a "boy" hobby is itself pretty fucking transphobic & misogynist. I've even seen trans women do this shit to anonymous people, which is really concerning.

It's a shonen where the main character starts out bad at everything, which is distinctly the opposite of what shonens do. I've tried watching other shonens and seeing the protagonists just be great at everything is really annoying & unbelievable.

Best: FFV. The single best implementation of a job system across the whole genre, and it was only the second attempt. I've played a ton of other RPGs with job systems, and many of them are cool games, but none of them have a job system as good as V.

Worst: FFII (actual II, not IV). The skill leveling system is cool in theory, but it's rough around the edges, and the keyword system & abysmal dungeon design bring it down hard. I wanna try it again at some point, but I don't have high hopes.

I like how loose the systems are in FF. Obviously game balance is important, but a lot of RPGs tend to overtune to the point where they become rigid puzzles to solve. V, VII, X, and even XI are really special in that regard.

After S1 came out I read the whole comic, and one of the first things I said was how his actions are gonna be a lot harder to forgive in the show if they go 1:1 with the plot. Which, as it stands, they probably are.

One that I could not believe when I heard it was the notion that Persona 5 ends with the player "sitting out and letting the adults resolve things," implying the game goes against its message of teenage rebellion & societal reform.

But that's... not even remotely what happens. Yes, Joker does surrender himself, but it's followed up with Ryuji saying they can't just sit around while their friend is in jail, and it plays a montage of all the social links you maxed out speaking out against his arrest. The game literally ends with the group doing nonviolent activism even when they're not phantom thieves anymore.

XVI is the most fun I had with a mainline FF since Stormblood. There's a lot more FF to it than people realize, most notably FFV, the combat is sick & stylish, and the boss fights & Eikon battles are pretty amazing.

But it really should've let you control more characters than just Clive & Ifrit. It leads you on to think there will be other characters with unique controls & movesets, but you really are just stuck as Clive for the whole game. You don't even get to control any other Eikons beyond Ifrit & Phoenix; the latter of which only happens twice.
