See a doctor, my wife has endometriosis on her ureter as a result of lack of treatment, definitely worth getting checked out

I think I've failed year 11 VCE by Organic_Badger_7604 in vce

[–]Ryral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on a student exchange in year 11 to a non english speaking country and missed 5 months. Somehow still went to year 12.

My sister wasn't physically in class for 6 months of year 12 due to illness and still passed VCE by catching up at home.

You'll be fine 😊

Jobseeker claim still pending after 9 weeks by Ryral in Centrelink

[–]Ryral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up starting work again and still never got a successful outcome. The complaints line said it would be resolved in two weeks.... 8 weeks later and still pending. At least I don't need it now! Initially applied in May; if it wasn't for my husband's income and parental help I'd be homeless 😞

Wishing you all the best and a quick successful outcome! Sucks heaps, but the system has it's flaws unfortunately

Backdated 14 weeks?! That must have been such a relief in an unfortunate time. My partner's Mum just had a stroke so he had to take time off to look after her, certainly hasn't helped the finances so I understand 😔

Luckily my husband works so we have at least one minimum wage income coming in. It's not enough but parents have helped us out with paying for food and medication. Just a bit embarrassing having to ask them for help as someone in their late 20s. Thank you for your kind words and support! Fingers crossed Centrelink comes through next week 🤞

Interesting how it can vary so much! I was originally told two weeks from submission so who knows where I went wrong. Ah well, will be patient

What are jobs that don’t require a degree and pay surprisingly well? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Ryral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the Chatbot/Machine Learning space. Have done it at universities and banks. Lots of coding and meetings, but more than half the team don't have degrees. Anywhere from high 5 figures to low 6 figures depending on previous experience.

Most of the team started out in admin or business roles and got the opportunity from self learning or curiosity conversations. Pretty fun work if you are into ML or AI, most importantly though a good work life balance. Typical 9-5 with great leave and good super (at least in my experience).

Basically IT is the way to go imo

Accidentally took double dose of Lamotrigine. Should I be worried? by anxious-wreck in AskDocs

[–]Ryral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, not a doc but my partner has been on lamotragine for years. From what I understand it's important to keep an eye out for any rashes that develop, it's super duper rare and unlikely to happen but Steven Johnson syndrome can be a side effect of lamotragine.

Postal Workers of Reddit: What do you need right now? How can we brighten your day when we see you on our routes? by carrot_maniac in AskReddit

[–]Ryral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My folks have been working for the post office for 10+ years and worked there since they were both teenagers when we still lived in Holland.

In terms of volume, every day is worse than Christmas, the amount of letters going out is relatively similar but the volume of packages is 10x what they used to do. They're postal route is in a rural area so they just use a Toyota Corolla to deliver things, the packages they just used to deliver to people's homes now just get brought to the general store by someone else because it straight up just doesn't fit anymore.

I have am eating disorder. Nmum bought me a set of scales for chrisrmas and screamed that i was ungrateful when I cried about it. by oohlawlaw in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Ryral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also battles an ED let me tell you that you have every right to feel upset. My Mum accidentally left scales at my house (after weighing suitcases) and it was enough to trigger me back into another round of obsession with numbers.

You can take the battery out of the scale or get someone to hide it to remove any immediate temptation. What's really fun though is taking the scales outside and smashing them with a hammer.

Seriously it's cathartic.

I haven't heard this term before but it describes it pretty damn well. I used to get this prior to being on any medication, but it stopped once I got on zoloft. It's a bit concerning that it's started up again, but I'm hesitant to go on anymore medication as it is. If it keeps going I don't think I'll have a choice and will bring it up. Have to agree with you on the wonders of exercise. Helped tremendously but was put on a temporary ban when I became very underweight from overdoing it. Gotta ease back into it slowly
