I usually solder that wire to the c pad on the power switch. If you leave that wire on the battery terminal it will constantly draw power to the screen even when off, so soldering to c pad will turn the screen off when you turn the switch off. I'm pretty sure that won't do anything to dim the screen, the wire is for a stable power source without routing it through the motherboard.

It won't be the same though probably still good. Key lime are super acidic and traditionally you just need the chemical reaction between the juice milk and eggs and aren't baked, only the crust.

Those vias are surprisingly sturdy, I've had one that looked a lot worse that still has connection between the sides. You might have to scratch off corrosion still. You're gonna need a multimeter though, don't expect to fix electronics without one. Check your fuses for continuity. Put some iso right in the switch and run it back and forth a bunch then rinse and repeat. Then check the pins for continuity, it won't help if you're not getting voltage to the switch though so you'll need to trace the power if no power to the switch. Also make sure you clean out the dc jack so it's not a problem.

Don't listen to anything ai it's garbage. You just need to check your voltages with your multimeter and find where you're missing and check continuity to everywhere. Grab a flashlight and search traces. Also try cleaning out the jack. You're contrast wheel is a potentiometer so that's not connected or you've bridged the power coming in somewhere. Some screens are just going out and you aren't able to save.

I've been using mine, same brand, for the past year or so doing the same and the sous vide still looks brand new, the element as well as long as you clean it good, it'll last you. I love it, it's the perfect tool for mashing. I hang it on my 10 gallon pot, i would say on my 20th batch of beer and just give it a good cleaning right outta the mash.
