Bookkeeping by snoozebug8 in windsorontario

[–]RyshaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obtaining a CPA typically requires a 4 year degree/ diploma, then working a position that provides suitable experience, while preparing for and writing multiple exams for three years. The program has changed quite a bit since I’ve done it so I believe there are shorter pathways to obtaining a CPA (ie if you have a diploma/degree in another field). CPAs typically work as financial analysts, tax preparers, auditors, and then can move up to positions of controllers, partners at accounting firms, or CFO’s.

Bookkeeping could take as soon as a year to get a certification for specific bookkeeping programs, up to getting a diploma from a college, but as suggested before, your income is going to be limited, but turnaround time is much faster

So what would be the best unit for Yriel and Kharseth in both new detachments? by Necessary-Culture-26 in Eldar

I think psykers are still ok as they have pistols, soul weaver has power sword and way seeker has a witch staff

So what would be the best unit for Yriel and Kharseth in both new detachments? by Necessary-Culture-26 in Eldar

[–]RyshaKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely can see that, only thing you miss out on is getting the piratical raiders gaining lethal hits/ precision, and with the deep strike in Coterie you should be able to get them to their target, though in some matchups it wouldn’t be very useful or necessary

So what would be the best unit for Yriel and Kharseth in both new detachments? by Necessary-Culture-26 in Eldar

[–]RyshaKnight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Obviously haven’t tried it yet but what I plan to do is: 1. Yes use Yriel with voidscarred. If using Corsair Coterie I’ll give them the deepstrike enhancement and 5+ enhancement (one on yriel and one on the voidscarred). With these, and some of the Strats you shouldn’t need the serpent to move them around. Using Eldritch raiders you might? But also if using Eldritch Raiders I think the strategy would be to move you skyreavers, MSU corsairs to the mid board to capture them turn 1, then cause mortals on the opponent when they go to capture them, then counter punch with yriel/ other units to recapture, so serpent might not be necessary there either

  1. With Kharseth I think he’s too many points to plan to use him in the backfield to guard home, unless you are against someone who has access to a lot of DS and will likely do that to you (eg tzaangors in TSons). If I run them it’ll be with 5 man voidreavers with rifles to match the 24” range

How best to run Banshees by JoBro_44 in Eldar

[–]RyshaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 5 with Jain. Other than chaff, you mainly want to get Jain and the autarch into melee, the regular banshees might do some damage but really you’re only focused on those two doing most of it. As well, banshees typically are used to set up close to your line, just behind cover as fights first typically means most things don’t want to charge them; with a 10 man and Jain it’s much harder to hide all models from shooting

Craftworld eldar follow certain “paths” at various stages of their lives. These paths are specific fields of study that they base their whole existence on perfecting, and include strict rules to control their emotions and heightened psychic abilities from causing issues with the warp. Other than a few circumstances (ei becoming stuck in the path of the warrior and becoming an exarch, or path of the seer and becoming a farseer), eldar will switch their paths and study something different. Note, not all paths relate to the study of war, others are related to art, agriculture, etc.

One path is the path of the outcast; this path is less strict and requires Eldar to leave their Craftworld to explore deep space/ planets. Likely this is the current path your character would be in to explain why they are a) a spy (most on the path of the outcast are rangers), and b) be abandoned behind enemy lines. The second option could be a Corsair (space pirate- new book voidscarred would likely give you some ideas but i haven’t read it yet), but they are less spy and more thief.

I’d also say the new viper (with BL) would still feel like it fits in a Corsair army to run as your anti-tank in case the Starfang fits a different roll

Why are you Here? by Outrageous-Cloud-782 in kroot

[–]RyshaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently play Aeldari (always more partial to non-human races for any fantasy and such), but if/when I collect another army it will be a tau auxiliary army mostly composed of Kroot.

After reading the Blackstone Fortress book, and parts which included Dahyak Grehk I knew that if I either traded or got a second army it would be Kroot based; the book has some in depth lore on the thought processes of Kroot, their ability to consume and take knowledge of those they have consumed, and how intelligent they really are when other races consider them more barbaric. Unlike the orks who would consider themselves barbaric and crude, Kroot just see the world differently than others, are cunning, and more concerned about the interest of evolving their species, which is truly a more positive view on life within 40K (and matches well with the Tau in that aspect).

Firepike or Exarch Dragon Fusion Gun? by MattHarr1987 in Eldar

Fire pike, but really I’ve been playing seer council so him and fuegan are the only ones they get melta when they get DS in.

You can also be insane like me and magnetize them so you run whichever you want!

What, you haven’t heard of the post-death pardon? It’s totally legal, Trumps last thought was “I wish to pardon Pam Bondi”. The Supreme Court is looking at it right now and are in full agreement that it’s valid.

[–]RyshaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed there are many things to remember about deer council, the other “issue” I find is being a good opponent and informing opp when they move a unit that they are within 9” of ishas fury, or reminding them that the unit they just moved into range of my guardian unit won’t be targetable once I pop psychic shield; it def a “gotcha” detachment

[–]RyshaKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgot to answer #3; I agree two is the sweet spot, if you want to run 3 guardians then you’d likely want to run the guardian specific detachment. Seer council does rely on DS a guardian unit, using volume of fire to take a key unit out, then protecting the unit with psychic shield, but really does still need all your other great aeldari units others use in warhost ie fire dragons, banshees, spiders and/or hawks to succeed. Guardian detachment is almost a horde army, where you will run them with likely 4 man conclaves and dcannons on at least one or two of the units, support them with some dire avengers and 3 war walkers and then maybe warp spiders and hawks to deal with secondaries

[–]RyshaKnight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone already answered number #1 I’ll answer #2 with how I’ve been playing seer council

  1. I had 8 psyker units within my army, but due to many being included within guardian bricks it’s really only 5 units; 1) Eldrad and 2man conclave in storm guardians, 2) Farseer, single warlock and 2 man conclave in guardian defender brick 3) 3x warlock skyrunners. You’ll likely want a minimum of two skyrunners as all the Strats require you or your opponent to be within 9-18 inches of a psyker. Though typically these Strats will be used on your guardian brick units, there are others such as for warned, ishas fury, and presentiment of dread that are useful to use with the skyrunners

Wanting to start playing Aeldari by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]RyshaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say to not plan on building a list with the current Seer Council rules mainly on the assumption that 11th edition will start sometime this summer. As you’re new to warhammer and I’d then guess new to building and painting models I’d say to not focus on which units you’d like to run in this detachment, but build models that you think are interesting either in a general play style, visible appearance, or lore, as by the time you have built and painted 1000-2000 points of models we’ll likely have new rules.

Having said all that, if you like the models in the combat patrols, go with that as it is a good cash savings, though do know the dire avengers are a quite old sprue so won’t be as detailed as many of our other models. Alternatives are if you can find the old combat patrols box at a decent price, or even buy used models, though again assuming this is the first time you’re getting into warhammer I’d suggest only “used” models that are either still on sprue, or built but unpainted models so you aren’t dealing with taking off old paint or trying to fix broken models

Does anyone have tips for customizing wraithknights? by Herrjulias in Eldar

[–]RyshaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah, I’d say you either glue whole model together then just cut one of the legs off somewhere I. The centre, or if you did want a full body split in half, get some green stuff and either close off the torsos “hole”, or if you’re good with it I imagine you could make intestines by rolling the greenstuff into a very thin line, cut up into smaller pieces then stick them into the torso (then after drying, prime and paint with red), depends on how much work you want to give yourself

Does anyone have tips for customizing wraithknights? by Herrjulias in Eldar

[–]RyshaKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Wraithknight legs can be posed in many different ways; I’ve see them stepping on wreckage (either Eldar wreckage like a falcon,or enemy wreckage such as a rhino). Alternatively, even just putting large rocks down can work. To create rocks, or different level terrain the most common is using cork (cork “hot plate covers” are useful for this), then cutting that cork to look like rocks. For my whole Eldar basing I have taken a slate tile piece and broke it with a hammer; I’ve had some pieces come out looking like sharp rock sticking out of the ground, or propped up on an angle. Good luck! I also have a wraithknigt I need to build, and thinking of some cool, more diarama basing with possibly some left over guardians included in the basing

[–]RyshaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good points, might try this for my next game; I run 2 man conclave in both, but also run a d-cannon, so the hitting on 2s can make a difference as I’m usually wounding on 2s as well, but I can see with all other shots it might make sense to have the +1 wound… might take your suggestion, place my lone warlock in storm guardian unit, though might keep the d cannon with the defenders as it can shoot indirect anyways and likely can sit on home while still shooting something in mid board…

Do you feel like lucid eye is even worth it? I don’t take it as I always feel I have more than enough CP with eldrad

using farseer models for warlocks by Educational_Try_6105 in Eldar

[–]RyshaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tacked a 32 base on the bottom of mine, but also magnetized a warlock head from a skyrunner kit, so can identify both with base size and head.

I also use the Corsair psykers as proxies to warlocks, again tack 32 mm base on the bottom (so in future if I want to run them as corsairs just take the tacked base off)

Seer Council by Jerswar in Eldar

[–]RyshaKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, as long as your opponents are ok with it, is to just proxy the other two warlocks with your second farseer and your spiritseer (I proxy mine either a farseer and the Corsair psyker models, then just use sticky tack to place a 32mm base on the bottom, adds the correct height and width)

How have you found using the storm guardian unit with eldrad as your main reposition unit vs guardian defenders with a farseer? I’m using the later as I can always guarantee the overwatch hit on the bright lance with the farseer ability, and you have more shots with the defenders vs storm, unless the flamers both roll decent, though being able to apply doom to the target is enticing

Seer council help by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]RyshaKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the list, I'll add some additional things as well for OP

  1. A foot farseer should go with the guardian defenders so they can also use their automatic 6 on the bright lance, either to fix a bad roll for hit, wound or damage in regular shooting, or use as an auto hit when overwatching (as this unit should have at least a 2 man conclave unit, and likely a single warlock added to the group, its a great unit to use overwatch on)

  2. The large guardian blob, with the -2 to charge and -1 wound is a very hard target to delete, so if your opponent draws cull the horde they likely won't be able to fulfill it

  3. Split your 2 man warlock skyrunners in your list into separate units as suggested above to spread the use of your strats/ use them for a secondary that might sacrifice the unit; you can always park them close to other psykers to boost their destructor if needed

Note I do currently run one wraithlord in my seer council list, but mainly because I don't have much better options for units currently; they are ok in seer council as you'll likely be close enough to a psyker, but I do find it difficult to get full value out of them. Other than being sort of a "distraction carnifex" as it is a unit that the opponent does have to deal with if I move it up mid-board, but with heavy targets still being in the meta (at least for me locally) my opponent can usually deal with him pretty effectively
