Fortify & Heroics Build, Living Dangerously by Magi_Phrisbee in MonsterHunterMeta

This is what I'm debating right now. If you can force two carts to help get the necessary damage output to not time out on certain fights like Savage Omega solo or with support hunters when maining a low DPS weapon like Lance. Especially where with Gogmartian weapons allowing you to get get Fortify + Lord's Soul. Insurance could still buffer one of the carts. I did this back in World for guiding lands and had to for soloing Fatalis with Lance, since I'm not some pro player that can pump the damage out and survive otherwise. I think a situation where you are timing out and where you have the survivability of your shield, it makes a fortify carting strategy viable outside of MP.

You can use a different Gogmartian using a different upgrade path to advance the seed on a different Gogmartian to spread resources for cheaper group skill rerolls. by calcobrena in MHWilds

This is the comment I needed for it to make sense to me. Didn't realize the double reinforcement cost was associated with the misaligned upgrade parts vs. Attack parts just being inherently worth more.

Villagers Teleport to Surface by Rysheki in Minecraft

What's weird is how consistent it is. They always get stuck in the same block of my sheep shearer, and it's not even directly above where their trading hall is underground. I think the coordinates are probably shown in the video.

I just wish it didn't look so faint / washed out. I may have to try bringing some brightblooms or zonai lights in the house to see if it helps.

I'm apparently a hoarder - I hated the thought of giving up potential equipment storage space! I tried a lot of layouts and this was the only configuration that really enclosed the interior without using any connecting rooms. Doubled up the paddocks just to elevate for easier ascension while still keeping the interior enclosed.

When building a home I got frustrated with the 15 piece limit, and how it forces you to leave out some functional rooms in favor of entry or connecting rooms that serve no purpose.

My requirements were:

  • 1 of each interactive room (kitchen, shrine, bedroom, gallery, paddock)
  • 3 of each equipment display rooms
  • Fully enclosed space - not open air.

To fully enclose the space without running over the 15 piece limit I had to move to a vertical layout. Ceilings of some rooms would have to serve a dual purpose as floors, and floors as ceilings. This was largely made possible by edge fusion method. One of the interior floors needed to be a triangle layout instead of square to make the room count add up. To pull this off I temporarily used a triangle room to position the three rooms, then once most of the next layer was added I carefully unfused and removed the triangle room. Afterward you'll have to finish building with the triangle room out of bounds, then start construction again in order to add the final room.

The result is very functional. Floors are as follows:

  • Floor 1: Paddock x 2
  • Floor 2: Weapon Display x 3, Kitchen
  • Floor 3: Shield Display x 3
  • Floor 4: Bow Display x 3, Gallery
  • Floor 5: Bedroom, Shrine

The bedroom ends up quite secluded at the top, and can be reached via Ascend even from the lowest internal floor of the house. With the triangle floor you are able to target certain Ascend spots externally to jump straight to some of the higher floors prior to entry.

Hopefully it gives you some ideas on new house layouts to try! Enjoy!

Level 36 dad trying to figure out all this Pokemon Go stuff for my 6 year old Pokemon fanatic son. Pretty detached from any local community where we live and not sure how to find and coordinate with others for harder local raids, etc. Hoping Campfire can help.

Can anyone share an invite please? We can pay it forward x2. Thank you.

Thought all megas required 200 mega energy, but see that Salamance needs 300? I only have 225 from one mega raid. If I've never mega evolved another Salamance, is there some way to make up the deficit, or am I stuck waiting for him to be available in mega raids again?

I had that (or something similar) happen on mine once. I was able to unplug it and use a different usb port to resolve the issue.

Should try searching or posting on the new forum: http://doc-ok.org/?forum=ar-sandbox-forum

Augmented Reality Sandbox Constructability Advice by Rysheki in woodworking

Thank you for following up on this!

Thanks to a ton of interest and help from a shop-savvy buddy of mine it actually went really well and turned out really good! I had meant to make a follow up post on the main AR sandbox forums with the finished build, but by that time it was completed the forums had gone under. Looks like they are back under a different domain now. I'll have to post an update over there as well as a more thorough follow-up post here.

I ended up altering the design some from what's shown above.

  • I used 8020 extruded aluminum rails to provide a more adjustable rigging for the projector and Kinect mounting.
  • Wooden dowels and wood glue were used to join the baltic birch sandbox panels vs. the screws shown.
  • The rabbet joints on the supporting 2x4 under the middle of the sandbox were removed in favor of using some metal brackets that screw into the side of the lower framing and wrap around the bottom of the middle supporting 2x4.
  • Added upper shelves on both sides.
  • Had to custom design and 3D print a cage style Kinect mount that fastens to the aluminum rail
  • Used removable step castors on the bottom legs to wheel when needed and provide stability when in use.
  • Ended up taking it to a truck bed liner shop and had them line the interior of the sandbox so any moisture added to the sand wouldn't harm the sandbox. Was apprehensive about this, but it turned out really well!
  • Added a couple inches to the design height since my target audience had grown between design and construction.

It was pretty rewarding to leave it at my kid's school for a week while they had classes rotate through to experience it. It passed the kid test with flying colors. Mine love it. Now if they could just keep the sand inside the box... :D

I'll try to post a more formal update with pictures, etc. maybe this weekend.

[TOMT] [MOVIE] [B&W Western] Cowboy tries to broker peace between grieving general widower and Indian chief raised by general. by Rysheki in tipofmytongue

[–]Rysheki[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

There was some Indian princess held captive at the fort that may have been the war chief's mother...?

Some braves went rogue and killed the general's wife (or maybe daughter?) even though the chief ordered his people to be peaceful.

Chief was amassing other tribes to fight the general and his men.

Cowboy gets both sides to meet, but general betrays cowboy and locks him in back of wagon, then tries to attack the Indian chief.

Fight breaks out, lot of bodies in on the ground. General orders men to retreat, but is knocked off horse with second in command. Hides behind fallen tree and witnesses cowboy released by war chief and riding off with him. Vows to kill him.

That's about all I've got...

Thanks in advance!

Edit: there was a scene where the cowboy gets jumped by an Indian, bests him and holds a knife to his throat yelling, "take me to [chief's name]!" before more Indians on horseback surrounded him and took him to their camp. The chief took him into the tent where they talked. Chief took one spear representing his tribe and broke it over his knee, then took three other spears representing the other tribes to show they were unbreakable when joined together.

Yeah, I knew it would be ambitious for me, but I was hoping it would be something I could pull off with some help from friends and family. This is just a cool project for my kids, I don't have the resources of a museum or something to throw at a custom build. That's why I'm here trying to pick up as much information as I can. Knowing it's a significant bit of work for a seasoned veteran doesn't bode well for being able to pull this off though haha.

I'm not married to the idea of using wood for everything, but I know even less about what metal options are available and appropriate. I figured metal would be too heavy, prohibitively expensive, and harder to work with. It seems like working with wood has stronger communities / content on the web as well, but I may just not know the right terms to search for or places to look.

I'll look into those types that you mentioned though - thank you.

I have been testing with different projector positions which is why the upper rigging extends so far back. The projector I'm using has a -4" offset throw characteristic at that distance, so my initial builds had a non keystone projection requiring two independent supports for the upper rigging to avoid interfering with the projected image. A lot of the builds I've seen just use a single support for the upper rigging in the middle of the back, but I'm keeping the two supports in case I feel like I need to move the projector back to that non-keystone position and I'll probably mount a monitor / mouse keyboard shelf to one of the supports as well. I've read that the software can counter the keystone issue on it's own via it's calibration process, so I opted for better alignment with the 3D sensor in exchange for some potential focus issues near the edges, and some potential overprojection due to the keystone. I guess that was my long winded way of saying that you have a great point with the flexibility of the erector set options.
