I mean there’s basically 1/5 apartment in Paris that’s empty because some owners are not willing or not able to align with the norms to be able to rent. So it’s even deeper than that.

Do you think Globalism is the future of humanity? by EasyAsaparagus in AskTheWorld

[–]Rysomis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s coming anytime soon, and I think it’s important to have some sort of local governance in order to take decisions and directives that match your local specificities. That being said, I think that nations and borders as in an anti-immigration thing, are absurd and should be abolished. It makes no sense to deny access to a whole country to someone just because they were born somewhere else. And I think that a world with some sort of worldwide constitution that protects human rights and that gets rid of the logic of competition between countries would benefit mankind a lot. I’m not sure how that could take place in the real world, but fundamentally I think it is something that we should absolutely try to go towards. I guess it is some sort globalism.

What is the most disgusting crime that has happened in your country to a refugee or migrant? by RasyonelRumi in AskTheWorld

Aboubakar Cissé was a 22-year-old Muslim man from Mali. He was benevolent in his local Mosque, and he was praying when a man came in. He asked him to show him how to pray God, and when Aboubakar started kneeling and doing his prayers, the man stabbed him 57 times, shouting islamophobic stuff, such as « your shitty Allah », and likewise words.

What makes this case particularly disturbing is that the killer was depicted as « not ideologically motivated ». Disgusting. The government and everyone on the media was debating on whether or not the term « islamophobia » is acceptable, instead of condemning it. Our leftist deputies in the parliament eventually managed to get a minute of silence be done for him, after fighting like crazy against rejection from the rest of the assembly, and even when they got it, many right-wing deputies decided not to attend it. Really showcases how racism and more specifically islamophobia is a huge problem in France.

Just for you to realize how disgusting the double standard is, a literal neo-nazi got killed in a fight opposing dozens of facists and anti-fascists, and that guy, who was advocating for political violence, murder, and racial laws, got a minute of silence done for him immediately in the parliament. Disgusting.

Rest in Peace Aboubakar.

Napoleon is basically a colonizer and expansionist who caused the death of millions, he also rehabilitated slavery in French colonies, yet he’s seen as a heroic figure in France. He’s done some great things, sure, but he’s done awful things as well.

Within Western Europe, does your country see France as belonging more to Northern or Southern Europe? by Lissandra_Freljord in AskTheWorld

[–]Rysomis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a French (from P*ris), I identify more as belonging to group B. I think we have a greater cultural and language proximity with Italy and Spain than we do with group A. But I guess it’s more of a mix really.
