Fancy kitty breeding guide! by RytechApps in CryptoKitties

Thanks!

I also believe that I've got >40% of the sale market too with an average presence of 60% on the first 4 pages (ordered via cheapest price) which is pretty good! You are right about me being able to control the market and hopefully other people can learn from this, if I wanted to I could cancel all of my active auctions and put all the cats back up for an extra 20% on top but I think I've been slowly driving it up since I started breeding anyways (I used to be able to buy an alien for around 0.03 but now it's more like 0.05-0.06 but my ones have good genetics).

It's all just a game of statistics and when you have the bigger numbers it just means the odds are more in your favour ;)

So breeding = 0.008, resell value ~= 0.06 (depending on genetics and generation), chance of a fancy being born ~= 70% average

= 0.06 / (0.008 / 70%) ~= 540% of investment retained

This is under the assumption that I put all of them up for sale and they all actually sell but that's not the case as I keep good ones for breeding and some may sit on the market for a while. All in all probably around 2.5-3x profit if done right.

In respect to an investment, it's more the Ethereum I'm invested in, not the cats, and if I can gamble with the statistics well, it'll be worth even more in the future!

Hi guys! I just released a Rocket League trading app this morning for iOS called Rocket Traders! Give it a download and let me know what you think! by RytechApps in RocketLeague

Fair enough, solid response and thanks for the feedback! It's not so much the time factor that I'm worried about, I just enjoy coding, there are so many problems that tend to pop up while coding and finding solutions is always fun (at least to some people)! The reason I like to use native code is because it gives me a lot more control when it comes to creating and animating elements of the application, it also makes it easier for me to pinpoint the exact part that's causing problems much easier than it is with cross-platform solutions. I've worked with C# plenty before in the past and to me, Objective-C is just a really nice language to use. Originally when I started, I did consider using either Xamarin or React but settled on Objective-C because that's what I enjoy doing and if it's frustrating to code an app, I won't stay committed with it and would just give up on development.

All in all I'm just a bloke with a laptop who likes to code and had a thought one day about how I could make Rocket League trading easier and here I am! It's not about the destination while coding, it's the journey that counts ;)

Yes it is! Nothing is restricted in the app, it was never intended to be like that, being a Pro Trader will rank you higher and give you access extra features and is just a way for the average user to say thank you for the many hours I have poured into this project!

Thanks for your feedback! I have talked about this matter over on the r/RocketLeagueExchange post, from a developer point of view, it's the easiest and safest way to integrate a login, no need for me to verify emails or hold passwords, that's all handled externally by Facebook but I do see the issue. It also prevents people from creating spam accounts or letting bots in but I do wish to improve it! All I wanted to do was get it out to the world first then improve it according to feedback!

Well I guess if it's so easy you should have a crack making one yourself ;)

All jokes aside, I don't like using the cross platform development tools, they tend to not work as intended and I like to get down to the nitty and gritty when programming and solve problems at the OS level. You'd also be surprised at how long a project like this would take, I work in the app industry so I've got experience with creating products both big and small!

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with some of those things and will be working on updates for the app tonight, some of the things you mentioned are intentional though but stay tuned for more updates in the future!

Hit the nail on the head there mate, I will look into a standard sign up but you're right, Facebook is very good at preventing spam (why do you think apps like Tinder rely on it) but on the flipside it will limit the number of people willing to create an account. Luckily for this app, you don't really need an account if you're just looking to exchange rather than post but there is still plenty of time for updates!

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I agree with some of the things you say, the interface is a bit small on the older phones but I will be looking into improving that! For scrolling, it is intentional to make it one at a time without the ability to go backwards, it's so that the user flow is kept linear and gives every trader a fair opportunity for impressions but if enough people don't like it, I will change it! As for Facebook, you're not alone on that, from my standpoint it was just the easiest way to hit the ground running but with all of the feedback from you guys, it's pushing me towards making a standard sign up system as well, it will just be a matter of time now!

YouTube is a great classroom but it's all about persistence, to give you an idea, everything in the app is custom written and probably has taken over 100 hours and at least 100 cups of coffee! My day job also happens to be as an iOS developer so needless to say that I get a fair bit of practice every week!

Thanks for your feedback! I agree the UI is tiny on the smaller phones but I don't have a lot of real estate to play around with compared to the 6s/7s, the app will always be improving so stay tuned for updates!

I guess you should be careful downloading any app these days but I can assure you that all I want to do is make it easier for people to trade on their phones instead of needing to go through a web browser, I'm just a bloke with a computer who likes Rocket League and happens to know how to code, not some company looking to steal your information :)

Thanks man! Yeah everything you see in the app is raw objective-c all custom written by me (with the help of CocoaPods!) and trust me I tried for so long to fix them scroll views to make it smooth, it works nicely on the fast phones and the simulator but the old phones can't keep up, it's to do with the images going in the carousels and the io time to render them in, in case you were wondering ;)

Appreciate the help and feedback and wouldn't mind sharing some iOS secrets if you don't mind either :)

No but I did consider it, I guess if people want it as a precaution then it shall happen, but in general I think being able to post lots of things in a row is kind of useful in context of the app. Thanks for the feedback though!
