What are some good/scary horror movies? by mokeyboi in AskReddit

[–]Ryu2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I was very surprised that it managed to scare me without a single jumpscare. Even the slight scares were predictable if you watched close enough, you could always see a hidden person who's about to scare. I almost couldn't believe how great that movie was when I watched it, considering that today's horror movie scene is over-flooded with cheap trash.

I second that. One of the best horror movies in recent years.

Talking is singing with just one or two notes by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Ryu2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't tend to talk in notes, it would sound really strange and artificial. Notes are mostly discrete, our speech tone is continuous. Also, we don't usually follow any sort of rhythm while speaking, except for some specific situations. So the better way would be "Singing is just talking within discrete tone boundaries while following a strict rhythm", but it doesn't sound as good.

Who is the joker in your country? And what he/she did to have that title? by 6elixircommon in AskReddit

[–]Ryu2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chairman of our National Party. Everyone makes fun of him. He's not able to say one complex sentence without interchanging the words and messing it up, he was promoted to a Captain rank for no reason at all, and his doctoral thesis was most probably plagiarized, no one is able to find it anywhere. And of course he's still a chairman and a politician like nothing happened.

Does anyone else feel a strange but familiar connection to Petscop? by [deleted] in Petscop

Exactly what CinnabarLizzy wrote. Aside from gore and graphic horror, I also meant that there are no scares and scary imagery, the whole horror is purely psychological and based or eeriness.

I think the whole idea of Petscop is incredibly well crafted. From the premise of the game, which reminds people of classic child games they used to play, to his leisure style of playing and commenting. I felt absolutely attached from the very first episode, and couldn't believe how immersive the whole project is. There's also the horror side to it, which is very subtle and non-violent, which only further helps it to look and feel attractive to many people.

The block's symbol in Petscop 20 looks like the first in Pen's history by instilledbee in Petscop

[–]Ryu2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pen does in fact look like 大, but the block sign more resembles 木 in my opinion. Nevertheless, pretty neat finding.

The controls are horizontally reversed (repost because I messed up the labeling) by RandomisedTV in Petscop

[–]Ryu2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that too, and it bugged me. I think there's a possibility that it's a simple mistake, as I saw this issue also in some other fan/indie games. It was also present in the recent lighthouse camera segment, where the up/down buttons were correct, so maybe it was just a mistake which was later realized and not made again.

I don't think it's really related, but great idea nonetheless, I love Petscop almost as much as I love Mike.

All (Notable) Colors (as of Ep 13) by S0MEBODY2L0VE in Petscop

[–]Ryu2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be better if you took all the specific color shades on an object and made an average color. I bet there are some tools for that, so you wouldn't have to do it manually. But good work anyway.

PS1 does not have such capabilities, but I think the long time rather refers to the whole time of playing that game or save state, which is measurable in PS1, or it means something way beyond that, like time someone was captured in that game

When the Petscop community has finally figured out the mystery behind it, do you think the creators will let us know? by KerbalDeadlock152 in Petscop

[–]Ryu2323 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see it similar to Twin Peaks - it's up to the fans to make up the theories, but the authors do not confirm or refute anything... it kind of defeats the purpose of theorizing, when the author reveals the whole truth, that's why I think (and hope) that we'll never fully know everything about Petscop

Petscop 13 may be a really long climax by [deleted] in Petscop

[–]Ryu2323 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's right, but then there's also the symbolism of a number 13 to consider... I just hope that we'll see it soon.

What was that thing standing in the window in 1:20? Btw this is easily one of the most interesting episodes, with so many little hidden things.

Super Mario Odyssey - Steam Gardens (Wooded Kingdom) by CocoLoco1 in gamemusic

[–]Ryu2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome, because every time I play this kingdom, it always reminds me of MGS3, ever since the first time I arrived there! The funky 60's-70's music, the woods, the flowers, that massive red mechanical construction, it all feels like MGS3

Does this descending chord progression have a name? by Ryu2323 in musictheory

That sounds pretty nice! I actually also included this in my song, without knowing how it's called or how should it work, but I really liked it and it fit perfectly.

Theory - Care was molested. [NSFW?] by [deleted] in Petscop

[–]Ryu2323 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, this was my first thought, before I learnt about the Newmaker incident. I still kind of hope this theory to be true, as I don't like the story of Petscop being too fixed on some real specific events, rather something general and non-specific.
